In Another Universe, A Different Noceda Makes It Home

Summary:

After many adventures in the Demon Realm, Camila Noceda finally makes it home.

Notes:

This is part of a “What If?” Scenario where Camila enters the Demon Realm instead of Luz, and let’s just say she adopted Hunter pretty quickly and gained a reputation for kicking the emperor’s butt into submission.

Work Text:

Camila found herself at the foot of her door.

It had been many months since she last saw this place, yet she couldn’t believe she made it back. It almost feels like a dream. Then again, the entirety of today felt like one.

Saying goodbye to everyone at the castle, being given a coven sigil that put her and Hunter through agonizing pain, that strange God-like child stopping it when Belos begged for their help, Belos grabbing the two of them through the portal…

Had it not been for the coldness of the rain pelting her down and drenching her cape and vet clothes, Camila would’ve assumed she was still dreaming.

And yet, here she was.

Back at her house with the two boys she cared about by her side. The Good Witch Azura book that Luz loved so much and the thing that started Camila’s journey stayed dry and undamaged in her satchel.

Camila raises her shaking hand to knock on the door…but no knocking came. She couldn’t move, she was hesitant.
Why am I so nervous? She wondered, Luz would be ecstatic to see me…right?

A gentle hand squeezes her shoulder.

“It’ll be okay, love…” Belos reassures his partner, his voice ever so soft and calm despite the chaos that had happened.

He had felt pretty livid about the plan he worked so hard on going up in smoke thanks to those rebels taking advantage of his relationship with the human mom by giving her a sigil and making him give up his dignity by begging the Collector to stop the Draining Spell.

That child god would want his head later, not that he plans on ever returning.

But all of that internal unresolved anger could wait, he suppose. Right now the failed Draining Spell plan didn’t matter to him. What did was the woman he cared for so much finally reunite with her family.

“You’ve gotten this far, after all. We are right behind you.”
Camila turns to smile at the now-former emperor, his words always had that effect on her. She then moves her head the other way to see Hunter softly wrapping his arms around her own, wanting to comfort his adoptive mother as well. He doesn't say anything, but his body language was enough to lift Camila’s spirits.

“Alright...I’m ready...”

The boys let go of her, and with a big deep breath, she firmly knocks on the door. Almost immediately there was a voice, one she hadn’t heard in so long...

“I got it, Vee! I'm coming!”

Camila’s breath hitches.

That was Luz!

That's her little girl!

Soon the door opens, and Camila’s heart races as she comes face-to-face with her sweet, loving, imaginative, irreplaceable daughter.

Luz gasps and covers her mouth in shock, her mom right in front of her wearing a golden cape with curlier hair and two guys standing beside her.

The 14-year-old lost count of how many times she dreamt of this moment, the many nights of wishing and crying for her Mama. Vee did her best, and she was a good mom! But she wasn't Mama.

But now...

Luz could feel her tears threatening to fall as she stood and stared at the one person she missed the most.

Her Mama was here, she was real, and she was back.

“Hola, Luz...” Camila smiles, her voice cracking, “...I’m home.”
