Chapter 1: Meet Peace

Chapter Text

“Since both of your visas are expiring today, you will both go to the same game together, Chishiya and Niragi.”

Hatter announced.

Great. How come Hatter decided it was a great idea to put two people who almost kill each other in one team? But neither boys can do anything about it.

Niragi would've already shouted and complained if it weren't for Aguni holding him back beside him. When the black haired guy looked at the blonde, Chishiya's face was blank and that alone pisses him off.

But the sun is still high, he still have time to curse and throw tantrum somewhere else.

So when the meeting was announced adjourned, Niragi immediately dashed away from the room.

Meanwhile...

"PFF— WHAT?!"

"Kuina, you're going to clean that up."

Chishiya pointed out the mess when Kuina splashed the water to his room's floor. Kuina, apparantly, choked herself from the news that her friend said.

Kuina let out a loud laugh while the other sigh. "Try not to kill each other I guess."

He crossed his arms. "I can just make up lies for why he died if ever he try something funny." Chishiya said.

THE GAME TIME.

Hatter provided one car for Niragi and Chishiya, meaning they have to sit beside each other. All Chishiya's plan of keeping his distance vanished into thin air.

He's not interested and not really in the mood for driving so Chishiya entered the front passenger seat while Niragi was to one to drove away from the resort.

The whole ride was unexpectedly quite. Maybe because Niragi was focused on his thoughts and Chishiya has his mind wondering.

The truth was none of them was in the mood to talk shit about each other and Niragi would try to cover it by acting so focus on the road when the Game Arena wasn't that far.

They stopped at a swimming pool game arena. The moment they arrived there they immediately parted ways.

They entered through the lasers together. It was odd. It was weird. They're not bickering and threatening each other.

When they entered the game arena all heads turned to Niragi almost immediately because of the gun on his shoulder. But they all looked away when Niragi met their eyes.

Chishiya had his eyes focused on one certain.

She's alone sitting and hugging her knees. She wear a light-blue dress and her hair tied in a braid. Chishiya wonder why would someone left their kid alone in this dangerous world they're in.

He shouldn't care. But it was too late to realize that he already walked towards the girl. She lift her head up. Chishiya faintly smiled and the young girl just stared at him.

Chishiya sat next to her.

"What's your name?" He said with a surprisingly soft voice.

"Arumi. Arumi Kazunai." She looked down.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Chishiya. How old are you?"

Arumi looked at him again, with a tiny voice she replied. "8."

"You're alone?"

Arumi nodded. "How long... have you been here?" Chishiya asked again.

"Just... a week. I was with my sister but she died in a game."

He fell silent. No one would know but Chishiya is doctor, a pediatrician to be specific. So even if people would see him as harsh and cold, Chishiya learned patience and how to calm a kid. He would use his sweet and soft, small voice, he will smile and try to have conversation with the kid.

"Do you have somewhere to sleep?" Chishiya asked and the young girl shook her head.

He's harsh and cold, Chishiya won't even deny that. But somehow, this kid felt like something to him. She gives the warmth of peace even if she looks pale and sad. Chishiya feel like he needs to do something to wipe the frown on the young girl's face.

"Why don't you come with us?" He offered.

Arumi looked up and he saw how her face lighten up. He heard her silent cute gasp. "Us?"

Chishiya pointed to Niragi. "We know a place where you can eat 3 times a day and have running water."

"But he looks... mean."

He let out a tiny laugh. "He can't hurt you though."

"But what if he's mean..?"

Chishiya smiled hoping it will assure her. "He won't have a chance to hurt you."

Arumi nodded and said nothing more. Chishiya excused himself and approaced Niragi.

"The way you talked to her wasn't so you." Niragi said as Chishiya came closer.

"I learned."

Niragi looked around. They still have a minute before the registration close. "What's your plan with that kid?"

"I want to take her to The Beach."

Niragi raised his brow and scoffed. "You know The Beach itself is not a safe place."

Chishiya let hummed. "I know. But that place have benefits. She has nowhere to go."

"Whatever. I guess you already have something in mind on how to convince Hatter."

Chishiya scoffed. "I don't need to convince him. Surely he still accept people into his cult."

"That's a treasonous talk." Niragi crossed his arms.

They shared a laughter. "So what you think about her?"

"She seems cool, I guess."

"That's unexpected."

Niragi shoot him an unimpressed look. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I'm expecting an asshole-worthy response."

"Fuck off."

Chishiya chuckled. He could've said more if it weren't the announcer announcing that the game registration has closed and the game will now commence.

He walked towards the girl and Niragi followed him. The three of them stood beside the corridor while looking at their phones.

Game: Flag

Difficulty: 9 of Clubs

Time: 01:00:00

Number of participants: 14

Players need to form a group with 3 - 4 members. You will be competing against other groups. You need to collect flags from the opposite side.

The group with the highest number of flags at the end of the game wins.

However, your ship must not sink. If your ship sink your team will be automatically disqualified.

Ps. Any weapon is allowed. Limited stock of weapon is provided, also you can use your own weapon.

As Chishiya looked around, they saw how they panicked and rushed to where the weapons gather. Some were looking at Niragi and his gun.

Chishiya also went and picked a weapon, it was a pocket knife and a pistol. When he came back Niragi was reloading his rifle and Arumi was still as she watched people.

Chishiya sat down to match the young girl's height.

"Just stick with us. We'll be your team."

The young girl nodded.

No one dared to approach as they made their way towards the pool. In front of them was boats capable of 5 persons and a wide massive pool. Across the pool was almost a jungle.

Chishiya turned to Niragi. "I have a plan."

"Game start!"

00:59:59

The three of them sailed their boats, Chishiya told Arumi to keep her head down afraid that random player would use their guns of knives to shoot them. Arumi was placed in the middle while Niragi lead and Chishiya was at the back looking out.

The other team shot another team multiple times making their boat sink and lasers shot them from the skies. Now, there's only three teams left and one had made it to the opposite side and they're already looking for the flags.

"You should be the one to go and look for the flags. We'll be here." Chishiya said as soon as they arrived at the opposite side.

Niragi stared at him. "I know you don't trust me but you have no choice, just go!"

"How about her?"

"I can protect her."

00:39:44

Niragi stopped for a second and then nodded. He immediately jumped off the boat and started roaming around the seemingly jungle place.

There were a lot of trees and turns. A player tried to shoot him but he managed to dodge it and killed the player.

While he collected 3 flags so far, Chishiya threw his DIY bomb to the empty boat which was the first boat to arrive.

00:30:56

"What kind of idiot will leave their boat unattended?" Chishiya muttered as he watched the boat in flames and eventually it sank.

The player from the other side shot him a wide eye shocked face. He was clearly shaking as he held a gun on his hand and it was pointed at him.

Almost immediately, Chishiya hid her on his back and the other player pulled the trigger. And Bang!

A gun sound echoed.

Chishiya was shot on his shoulders. He used his pistol shooting the other player twice and making him fall from the boat.

He was slightly panting as he touched his shoulder.

Arumi looked at him, horrified.

But Chishiya assured her. "I'm okay..." He even smiled.

The young girl nodded even if there was tears on the corner of her eyes threatening to escape. He tried to hush her by hugging.

While there was no one on the other boat it was an opportunity for Chishiya's team.

As he watched the lone boat floating, he muttered. "Shit... I don't have anything left."

00:26:10

Meanwhile, Niragi was running for his life. He was not only carrying 6 flags that some were stolen from other players he killed, he also carries a gun.

He have one more player to take down and that player have more flags than him. He looks for ammo i his pockets but there was none. So he rushed to come back to the boat.

He was near the pool but the other player stopped him.

The other player was short but tough-looking and acting so confident. He have a wide grin as he point his gun to Niragi, a pistol similar to Chishiya's chosen weapon.

"Now give me all your flags." The guy threatened him.

Niragi scoffed. "What's the point?"

The other player already had the triggers pulled and all that is left for him is to shoot. Niragi figured he can just dodge it.

But he didn't expect was the gun sound that echoed from the room was not from the other player. It was from the other player's back.

The other player drooled blood from his mouth and slowly dropped to the ground. Behind him was Chishiya.

Chishiya was panting and holding onto his wounded shoulder while his other hand was carrying the pistol

Niragi's eyes widened. Chishiya wasn't sure if it was really fear that he saw on the black haired man's eyes. But Niragi rushed to him with a worried look.

"The fuck happened?" He immediately asked as he gently drag Chishiya back to the boat.

"It's... nothing."

"Can't protect yourself." Niragi sighed.

00:09:58

Arumi and Niragi sailed back to the starting point, they didn't let Chishiya. Eventually they reached it and put the flags to a box.

00:01:00

Niragi helped Arumi to get off the boat and he dragged Chishiya out of the boat.

"You look so fucking helpless."

"Hmm... You like it?"

Niragi stopped for a second before his face turned into an expression of grimaced. "The fuck that's supposed to mean?"

Chishiya managed to let out a small laughter. "I don't know... whatever you think of, really."

"You're dying and you still have the guts for that." Niragi said as he took off Chishiya's hoodie and wrapped them around his wounds.

"How gentleman of you.."

"Game cleared!"

A card appeared on the table that used to be the weapon's. Arumi picked it up and handed it to the two bickering men.

Niragi stared for a while then showed a slight bjt genuine smile. "Keep it, kid."

"You look so fake." Chishiya laughed when he saw Niragi's face.

"You're so lucky I can't kill you." Niragi replied.

Arumi kept watching and listening to two grown-ass men bicker and threaten each other as if they didn't do anything during the game to save each other's lives.

I'm lucky I found people to adopt me but why these... Arumi couldn't say her thought out loud.
