Work Text:

“Help me get a piercing, Liam.”

That was the first thing the raven man said to his partner that day. He had left early that morning for work, missing William getting up and had returned late that night. The blond gave him a look of disbelief as he set down his cup.

“A piercing, Sherly?”

“Yes. Right on my ear here.” He pointed with a grin, waiting for the man’s answer. The two were silent for a minute or so before William realised that his companion wasn’t going to budge. He gave a nod and smiled in return. He stood up with a stretch before tidying the coffee table. The other man joined him and helped take the dirty dishes to the kitchen. William took them again and then started to wash up while the raven man leaned on the counter next to him, watching him work.

“Okay then, Sherlock. Would you like me to do it for you or shall we call for a professional?”

“I’d prefer if you did it, Liam. I trust you most, you know. Anyway, I’ve seen your skills with a sharp object. You can pierce more than just an ear.” He chuckled and leaned his chin on his right shoulder as his eyes fell back on William’s hands. Yup, can definitely pierce more than just an ear. He watched the man’s long fingers turn off the tap and wipe themselves dry on the tea towel. They then crossed themselves across the blond’s chest as he leaned against the other counter.

“Did you want to do it now? We have time.”

The two gathered various items needed for the act of piercing Sherlock’s ear. A chair, a needle, a candle and a towel. The pair decided to do it in the kitchen for an easy clean up and Sherlock sat in the chair, his shirt off and the towel on his neck. William stood over the lit candle, needle in hand. His sleeves were rolled up and the ‘patient’ had a clear view of the ‘operator’s’ figure. What if I just.. The man’s thoughts were interrupted by the blond turning around. He walked over and leaned down to ear level. The man took the damp towel and placed it against Sherlock’s lobe, his other hand rested against the man’s neck as he carefully held the hot pin.

“Here we are, Sherlock. It’s going to hurt so don’t pull away or it may make any damage worse.”

“I think you doubt my pain tolerance, Lia- OW! LIAM, THAT.. hurt.”

William smiled apologetically and gave a sigh.

“I told you not to flinch. You’ll get blood everywhere. You can hold my hand if you need to, Sherly. I’m going again, okay?” He patiently coaxed Sherlock into a nod and went back to work. Though the man protested, he ended up holding the blond’s hand the whole time and even while the pain was still subsiding after the whole activity had finished. The two stayed like that for some time, chatting into the night while William cleaned up any spilt blood and made sure Sherly would not prick himself when he eventually moved. They needed to go to bed at some point after all.

During their talk, William was knelt in front of the newly pierced man. He looked up into his indigo eyes and watched them look right back. They sparkled with admiration and love, and the blond couldn’t resist but lean up into the man’s face, and kiss him. Naturally, Sherlock didn’t resist and even pulled his partner up onto his lap, supporting him by wrapping arms around the man’s frame. In between kisses, he whispered sweet nothings into the blond's open mouth, pouring them without end like a fountain. And as if dying of thirst, William drank them as if his life depended on it.

“You really can’t live without me can you, Liam?” He smirked as he pulled away to look at the other man’s face. “I was gone for one day! And you couldn’t handle it. My dear Liam, all pent up.” William's slightly flushed face  looked up at man gazing down, holding his chin, and blinked in silence. After a few seconds, his face started to crack and he then suddenly burst out laughing while in the other man’s hand.

“Sherly, you are hilarious. Don’t tell me you’re doing this to distract yourself. I can see right through you.” The blond leaned up again and gave Sherlock a peck on the lips. “You are just too much sometimes. You don’t have to lie to me, I can tell exactly how you’re feeling. My, dear, dear Sherly.” He added with an eyebrow raised as he copied his partner's previous bravado. The raven man sighed with a soft smile as if to say ‘you caught me’ and stroked his companion’s hand gently. You understand me completely, Liam. What would I do without you? He then reached to brush his hair behind his ear when he was quickly stopped with a 'tut'. His mouth gave a silent “oh” and he nodded.

“Right, the piercing. Thank you, Liam. Anyway, we should be getting to bed now, it’s late.”

“Yes. I recommend that you sleep on your left side for a while. In fact, we need to get you an actual earring at some point. The sooner, the better. Maybe a skull to match your ring?”

“That sounds wonderful, love.” Sherlock replied before planting a kiss on the man’s forehead when the two had stood up. “You always know what to say.”
