Fleur's eyes flickered around the club from where she stood on the balcony. The lights flashing around her, the bass of the music bumping through her. One hand holding a glass, the other placed on the railing.
She had no idea why she was still here, there was nothing of interest tonight. Sitting in the VIP section had its perks. It kept most of those wanting her attention at bay. Her sister and friends sat at the table while her eyes looked over the crowd. She could just make out her sister’s laughter over the hum of the music.
Just as she was getting ready to turn, something caught her eye at the door. She could see a tussle going on between two men but it was the beautiful brunette walking past them that caught her attention. She walked in a crowd of four guys, one of which had his arm thrown around her shoulder. Even from this far away, she could tell that the brunette wasn’t happy with the red head who had his arm around her. In fact, she looked down right pissed. Not that he seemed to notice, too busy joking with his friends to care about what the woman wanted.
Fleur watched from the balcony, enraptured by the brunette standing by the bar. Eyes tracing the gentle curves of her face, not that she could see her eyes from this distance but her interest in the woman was a surprise. Not that she didn’t like women, loved them in fact, but it had been a long time since she had gotten caught up in a woman from one glance.
But there was something about her that had Fleur leaning over the railing.
Watching the interaction of the group, she knew, immediately, that the young man was more focused on his friends and having a good time with them then to pay any attention to the woman before him.
She watched as the brunette took a shot before grabbing a mixed drink that was presented to her. Her eyes darting around the club that was packed full on a Saturday night. Bodies moving with the beat of the music as people lost themselves in the club.
“She’s gorgeous,” Gabrielle said from beside her.
“Isn’t she,” Fleur replied as she leaned on the railing.
The boys were busy laughing, the red head shoving one of the others, causing him to bump into the brunette. She frowned when the boy didn’t even turn to apologize to her. Fleur was hoping she would throw her drink on him but she held back, taking a look at her phone. It was clear that this was the last place the woman wanted to be.
“What are you going to do about it?” Gabrielle questioned.
“What makes you think I am going to do something about it?” Fleur asked as she turned to look at her sister.
“I know you. You never take an interest in anyone and here you are staring at her from the other side of the room. You’re thinking something.”
“She has a boyfriend.”
“How do you know?”
“Saw her come in with him. The red head.”
“The one who isn’t even paying attention to her, too busy taking shots with his boys.”
“That one.”
Gabrielle chuckled. “Well, then I suggest you go sweep her off her feet.”
“This isn’t a romance novel.”
“It could be if you just took a chance.”
Fleur shrugged but thought over what her sister was saying. She watched as the woman asked the red head something, but he brushed her off, clearly not caring about what she said.
Taking a deep breath, Fleur downed the rest of her drink before handing the glass to her sister, who chuckled.
“Go get ‘em,” Gabrielle hollered after her.
Fleur made her way down the stairs and onto the dance floor. People moved out of her way as she made her way to the bar. Pleased when the crowd parted and she spotted the brunette, who had a frown on her face and an empty drink in her hand.
Almost as if she could feel her eyes on her, she looked up, jaw dropping as Fleur approached. Fleur almost preened under the attention the other woman was giving her. She knew her looks garnered a lot of attention but there was something about the way the woman looked at her that had her quickening her pace.
None of the boys noticed her approach but she didn’t care, she had only had eyes for the woman before her. She came to a stop just within touching distance of the brunette, who met her eyes with a shy smile.
“Care to dance?” Fleur called over the music as she held out her hand and leaned forward to be heard better.
The woman looked shocked but pleased by the invitation. Then, almost as if she remembered she had a boyfriend, she looked over her shoulder at him. He was, clearly, not paying any attention to her and a look settled over her face. Fleur watched the change come over her, the way she squared her shoulders and fire burned in her honey brown eyes.
Turning, a beautiful smile crossed her face as she took Fleur’s offered hand, who was pleased with this. The woman set her drink down as Fleur led her onto the crowded dance floor. When they were far enough away from the bar, she turned to face the woman, drawing her close as she let the music take over.
She slung her arms over Fleur’s shoulders as she matched Fleur’s movements with those of her own.
Together, they danced, mixing moves and holding eye contact as they moved as one. Fleur couldn’t remember the last time she found someone who just fit with her. Drawing out a playful side that she had long since forgotten about. They taunted and teased each other as they danced, not speaking but letting their bodies talk.
The longer they danced, the closer they got, until they were pressed up against each other. Nothing could take Fleur’s attention away from this gorgeous creature before her. It was clear that the woman was having fun and enjoying the attention that Fleur was paying her.
She could feel the beat of the music bursting through her, her own heart racing at the press of the woman against her. It wasn’t long before she gave into the desire to kiss her. She leaned in, taking her time to let the woman pull away if she wanted. Instead, she met her half way and the world exploded with color in Fleur’s eyes.
Heat rang through her, catching her off guard at the intensity. Her heart hammered in her chest, as she moved to deepen the kiss. The arms around her neck tightened, dragging Fleur closer. After what felt like eternity, Fleur pulled away to breathe. Her heart was racing, breathing heavily, and trembling from head to toe. She was in dire need of this woman before her. There was nothing quite like feeling this woman against her. She had never been so enraptured by someone so quickly.
Pulling her close, she yelled over the music.
“How do you want this night to end?” Fleur questioned. “Because all I can think about is having you inside of me.”
The woman moaned, gripping her tighter before pulling away after a few seconds.
Her honey brown eyes dark with need but there was something in her eyes that had Fleur’s heart sinking. She knew, before she spoke, that this wasn’t going to end the way she hoped it would.
The woman gave her a sad smile before pulling away. She opened her mouth to speak but Fleur shook her head. The last thing she could bear at the moment was a half hearted attempt to make her feel better. Instead, she watched the woman disappear into the crowd of dancers. Without thinking, she turned and headed back to where her sister waited in the VIP section.
“Sorry sis, I thought she would have stayed,” Gabrielle said as she slung her arm around her sister’s shoulders.
“It’s fine, better that I be turned down now instead of later.”
“I doubt she would have turned you down if it wasn’t for that red haired idiot. He didn’t even notice she left, nor did anyone else.”
Fleur scoffed. “How could he have someone so amazing and not even pay attention?”
It wasn’t fair but that was just how the cards fell. Instead of worrying about the world, she and her sister headed out into the cool night.
“Maybe she’ll come back,” Gabrielle said hopefully but there was nothing she could say that would make Fleur feel better. The rejection stung but that was just a part of life.

Two months since that beautiful woman had come and twisted her whole world around. Two long months of waiting and hoping for something that never seemed to happen. It left her feeling out of sorts and craving the touch of that woman. When it became clear that she wasn’t coming back, Fleur resigned herself to letting go of the feelings that she held. There was no point in hoping for something that clearly wasn’t about to happen.
Gabrielle did her best to try and cheer her up but she found that the nightlife held little in the way of distracting her. Instead, it just reminded her that she was alone and would probably stay as such for the foreseeable future.
That was how she found herself on the dance floor. She hadn’t picked anyone to dance with, instead had gone down to enjoy the thrill of losing herself to the music. Her body swayed in time with the music, eyes closed, head back, as she let herself go. There was little that she cared about so when she felt the press of bodies against her, she didn’t even care. Didn’t look to see who they were and was in no mood to speak with whoever felt the need to invade her space.
Just as she was about to pull away and make her escape, she heard something that had her freezing. It was brief, a hint of a sound but it rang through Fleur louder than the music pumping through the speakers.
Fleur froze, eyes snapping open, her eyes desperately searching for whatever had just interrupted her. As she looked around, her eyes landed on the one person she thought she would never see again. She was standing not far from her, a brilliant smile lighting up her face. Fleur’s jaw dropped, drinking in her appearance. She was even more beautiful than Fleur remembered, and she was here, actually here. In front of her. There was nothing more important than getting to that woman.
She smirked, crooking her finger to indicate Fleur follow her. Fleur stumbled out from between the two dancers, who reached out for her, but she brushed them aside as she took the offered hand. The warmth of her hand filled Fleur’s whole body until she could think of nothing else but that gorgeous woman before her. She drew Fleur into her, wrapping her arms around her as she drew Fleur close. Fleur held onto her tight, refusing to let go of her again if she could help it.
“You came,” Fleur said with a sense of awe in her voice.
The woman smiled, leaning forward to capture Fleur’s lips in a kiss. Fleur was drowning in her feelings. Lost in the heat of the kiss that left her body aching all over again. She missed this and it seemed so had she.
When they pulled away, both women were smiling.
“Want to get out of here?” The woman asked.
“Yes,” Fleur practically yelled causing the woman to laugh.
Together, they made their way into the cool night air, hands grasped tight as they headed down the street. Fleur didn’t care where they were going if her hand stayed in hers.
“I’m sorry it took me so long,” the woman said after they had been walking in silence for a while.
“Why did it take so long?”
“Ron, my ex, was taking the breakup hard and I wanted him out of my life before I came to find you again. I was hoping I wasn’t too late.”
“Not at all, I would’ve waited forever for you,” Fleur told her before slapping her hand over her mouth in embarrassment.
The woman chuckled, tugging on her hand to pull her closer.
“That’s the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me,” she admitted.
“Then you should be told how amazing you are every day.”
“I don’t know about every day. You may change your mind once you get to know me. People tend to tell me that I work too hard and that I am a bit of a control freak.”
Fleur huffed. “I promise, I am not like those idiots.”
The woman shrugged, continuing to lead Fleur wherever they were going.
“That is kind of you to think but again, you may change your mind.”
Fleur shrugged. “Well, with me, you will constantly have to watch as men and women approach me, whether you are there or not. I’m not trying to sound conceded but it is the truth. A lot of people can’t handle it.”
The woman smiled. “I think I can handle that.”
“Can you?”
“I believe so. I am not lacking in confidence.”
“You are gorgeous,” Fleur remarked as she turned to look at her again. She couldn’t help herself. She had been dreaming of this woman for two months.
“Thank you, now, how about we pick up where we left off last time.”
Fleur nodded, letting herself be led into an apartment complex. She didn’t care where they were, if they were together.
“I’m Fleur, by the way,” Fleur remarked as they climbed the stairs.
“Hermione.”
Hermione pulled her close the second she opened the door, pushing Fleur back into the door before kissing her with all her pent-up emotions. Fleur responded kindly, losing herself to the moment. Nothing had ever seemed as important as what was happening right now.
With a smile on her face, Fleur found herself exactly where she never knew she needed to be.
