Chapter Text
Imagine, the school bell rings and you go with your friends to your first class. You go to sit in the back and expect just another boring lecture in which you are not in the mood for whatsoever.
But then, the plot twist of the century. Policemen show up.
Tommy, Ranboo and Tubbo were those friends and sat with the three of them chilling in the back. Paying attention wasn’t a thing Tommy excelled in, he would just study the notes from his friend, Ranboo.
They were the one who would pay attention in every single class. Not because they enjoyed it, but just because he was the reason his friends succeeded every test. And, not to forget, Tommy and Tubbo would pay them in various kinds of food in return for their notes.
Without Ranboo, Tommy and Tubbo would be doomed and fail miserably.
Tubbo on the other hand, was something else. He wasn’t like Tommy, who just zoned out and created stories in his head or talking to his friends. Tubbo was neither a notetaker like Ranboo.
The small boy simply didn’t pay attention because he was busy. Busy with creating new technology. Tubbo’s school bag was mostly filled with blueprints from those designs.
The trio were sitting in their third lecture of the day, history. The teacher explained the history of Essempe, how it was built from the ground and how it evolved to what it was now.
“The few remaining citizens didn’t obey the order and stayed in the Badland. That leads us to the follow up event. Does anyone know about which event I am talking about?” The teacher asked the classroom.
She looked around the classroom and as expected, no one had their hand in the air, ready to give an answer. “Mister Craft, perhaps you are kind enough to share your answer with the class?”
Tommy tensed up and his eyes shot panicky to Ranboo. “Uhm well..” He stumbled over his words. Some of his classmates were looking at him, some with pity in their eyes. No one desired to be picked out to give an answer.
Luckily, Ranboo was there to rescue Tommy. “The police invaded the Badlands to force the remaining people to collaborate and forced them to live in Pogtopia. With that, the mayor could start the plan to make the Badlands into an industrial district with factories.”
Tommy smiled thankfully to Ranboo who gave him a small smile back. The teacher, however, wasn’t pleased in the slightest. “Thank you Ranboo, that was an excellent answer. Although, I forgot the part where I asked you to answer.”
The teacher narrowed her eyes and said strictly to Tommy: “Next time, Craft, I expect better from you. It’s no wonder why your brother walked down the wrong path. If you continue like this, you will end up just like him.”
Tommy felt his cheeks going red and quickly looked down. He clenched his fist underneath the table, his nails digging into his skin. How dared this teacher to speak about Wilbur in such a way.
Okay, it was partly true, Wilbur did commit a few small crimes. But that did not take away that no one, no one was allowed to talk about his brother in such a manner.
The blonde looked up and shot the teacher a look which if it could kill, the woman would die right there. The teacher had already moved on with the class like nothing happened at all.
A foot hit Tommy’s knee. “Calm the fuck down Tommy. You look like someone killed your dog or something.” Tubbo hissed to Tommy while he kept working on his designs. “Or do you want to cause another scene?” He asked.
Before Tommy could answer, the door of the classroom opened. All twenty heads of the students, including the teachers, turned towards the door. Two policemen with the schoolmaster walked in the room.
The policemen, determined, stopped right in the front of the class and the schoolmaster spoke, clearly avoiding all of the questionable gazes from this surprise visit:
“These officers have a warrant for a certain someone here..”
The headmaster didn’t get a chance to finish his sentence and all the students began to murmur with each other. Asking themselves who the person was to be arrested.
Tubbo poked Ranboo in their side. “Nobody in this classroom is an adult, are they just allowed to arrest someone below the age of 18?”
“I honestly don’t know.” Ranboo shrugged and suggested: “Perhaps they are here to arrest the teacher?”
Tommy leaned back and crossed his arms. “I hope so.” He murmured. “She is a wrongun.” The other two nodded at that.
The headmaster tried to regain control and calm down the students. When it was clear he would not succeed, one of the officers stepped forward.
“Silence!” Xe commanded. The chatter faded quickly after hearing the booming voice. “We’re searching for a sixteen year old kid named Thomas Craft.”
A hush fell over the class. Everyone turned to the back of the room. Tommy froze up, did he hear that correctly? Did that officer say his name?
“What have you done this time?” Tubbo said, breaking the painful silence. “I…don’t.. I did nothing?” Tommy responded. He frowned, thinking about something he could have done wrong.
“Surely they have the name wrong. There is no way that Tommy , out of all people, did something wrong.” Ranboo piped in. “Have you met Tommy?” Tubbo scoffed. “Of course I met him. But I guessed that if one of us would end up in jail, you would be the lucky one.”
The two friends kept bickering while Tommy watched fearfully the two officers walking closer. Seconds seemed minutes. Tommy’s mind was racing, asking the one question he wanted an answer to. Why were those officers looking for him?
“Mr Craft, can you come with us?” One with the glasses asked. It was the same one who shouted for silence a minute before. “For what exactly?”
“Just to ask some questions, nothing extreme.” Xe shrugged. Tommy sighed and stood up but was held back by Tubbo. “You said you have a warrant. That is not something you can describe as ‘nothing extreme’.” the small boy put air quotes on the last two words.
The other officer stepped in and said with a deep voice: “Nothing that would concern you.” Tubbo stood up from his chair and said dead calm back to the officer: “Are you sure about that?”
“Pretty sure small one.”
Tommy held in his breath, scared of what would happen. Same with the rest of the class. They all knew what the brunette was capable of.
“I am pretty sure this will concern me. Seeing that you are about to take away my friend,” he nudged his head to Tommy, “without any clear accusations other than ‘asking questions’.”
Tubbo walked to the officer and stopped when he was right under the man’s nose. The high difference would be funny to Tommy if it were other times, but now he knew he had to step in before Tubbo would say something which couldn’t be reversed.
“You see, I have connections which you wouldn’t even dream of. You the money your job gives you? How about I get you fired? Or I can arrange for you to be evicted. You like the sound of that?” Tubbo threatened.
The police officer began to laugh. “Now that’s hilarious!” He wiped away a tear from the laughing and said: “Oh kid, you're living in a fantasy world I hear? You can’t do such a thing!”
The rest of the students, including the teacher, didn’t laugh with the man. Tommy wanted to say that Tubbo actually could do such a thing.
It was common knowledge Tubbo could basically get everything his heart desired. When he was taken in by Schlatt, the CEO of the Rammies Company, the biggest company in the whole city, the new foster parent made sure Tubbo wouldn’t be lacking anything.
So the kid was partly true. Not him, but his foster parent had those connections to make those things happen.
Ranboo stood up as well and pulled Tubbo back. “Excuse me sir, Tubbo sometimes says stupid stuff like this.” They said nervously.
Tubbo whispered to Ranboo, still too loud so everyone heard anyways: “I will make them pay for even trying to arrest Tommy.”
“I know but calm down. Tommy sure knows what is going on. Right Toms?”
Tommy looked at his friends. “I honestly don’t know. I think Wilbur has done something again. You know how he can be sometimes.”
“Wilbur Craft?” The officer with glasses said. “This ain’t about him. This is about your father, we have a suspicion-”
“That’s enough!” The other cut xem off. “Don’t shout it off the rooftops! We only have to bring him in, nothing more and nothing less, understood? Those are our orders.”
My father? Tommy thought. He couldn’t think of a single action his father could do to harm others or whatsoever. That man wouldn’t even kill a fly or spider.
“This has taken long enough. You, come with us now.” Tommy shook his head. “No, you must have it wrong. My father did nothing wrong. If he did an illegal activity, well he just can’t!”
The teacher spoke up and said with a smirk: “Well officers, if I may, the Craft family does have a history with illegal activities. If I remember correctly it was Philza Craft who made sure Wilbur wouldn’t get a punishment for setting the school partly on fire.”
“That fire was an accident!” Tommy hissed. He felt his blood boiling, only if he could punch that teacher in the face right now.
The schoolmaster clapped his hands a few times to order attention and said: “Please, just take Tommy with you and be on your way. I don’t want any unnecessary attention then it already has.”
“Wait.” Ranboo spoke just before Tommy walked away. “How come you have a warrant, but you only need Tommy for answering questions? And why not come for him after school?”
“We have a warrant in case he does not listen to come with us. And this matter can not wait. Now, excuse us.”
The three walked away, the headmaster stayed as last to say his apologies for the interruption and closed the door on his way out. The students began with chatting and speculating almost immediately once the door had shut.
Tommy would describe the car ride to the police station as nothing else but awkward as hell. None of the two uttered a word, and if Tommy asked something to them, he would just be ignored. They didn’t even answer the question how long the car ride was going to take, the bastards.
Once arrived at the station, the police officers opened the door for Tommy and guided the boy to the investigation room. He looked around and absorbed every bit of information which he could use to solve this mystery in his head.
When Tommy walked into the investigation room, he was met with tho very well known faces. His brothers, Technoblade and Wilbur.
