When Percy was knocked out on Polyphemus' Island while trying to save his friends, he had no idea that waking up in ancient Greece was an outcome he had to prepare for.
But here he was, sailing across an unknown sea with a very well known ancient hero, reenacting the Odyssey (of which he knew far to little) and trying not to die. Fun times.
Meeting the gods (who were wilder, younger and way more vengeful) while attempting to not mess up the future was just the top of the metaphorical iceberg.The only good thing? Dreaming about a rather cute boy who always made him smile...

“What’s the matter, baby?” Flashing his best smile, Hawks fervently hopes the metallic taste on his tongue doesn’t mean there’s also blood leaking through the cracks of his teeth. "You don’t think I look pretty like this?”
Against all odds, Dabi does not follow their usual script. Does not lunge to light his ass up with blue flame while he’s too weak to even stand, or kick him in the stomach where he’s so, so, so stupidly exposed that he’s hurting.
Instead, Dabi’s warm breath ruffles a few strands of Hawks’ messy hair (and if that doesn’t kick Hawks’ poor heart into a gear that can not be healthy) when he murmurs, all too earnest and all too quiet, “No, birdie. Not like this.”

Alternatively, when the Commission beats Hawks down, Dabi is there to pick up the pieces.

Summary
A simple recruitment assignment goes awry when the recruit uses their quirk to turn Dabi into the ugliest cat in the world, but the second Hawks sees him he knows that the adorable, hypothermic cat is going to be his best (and only) friend forever. Now he just needs to get his cat to agree because like hell is Dabi going to become the heroes pet. But, this would be the perfect opportunity to turn the tables on the lying, spying bird and find out new information on the #2 hero. However, what Dabi ends up learning is that Hawks has horrible taste, no hobbies, and no friends. Don’t even get Dabi started on Hawks’ work habbits. Most of all though, what Dabi learns is that Hawks is lonely and depressed, and it’s very hard to scratch Hawks’ face off when he sits crosslegged on the floor and hugs him while he cries.
So Dabi continues playing cat and takes mental notes on Hawks.

Summary
Scoping out new recruits apparently goes terribly wrong when you bring the Number Two Hero along with you, Dabi has found - there are now a good few piles of ash on the floor, the dirty stench of burning lingering in the air, and a very panicked, very injured hero by his side, clutching at his upper arm through his jacket.
“Can’t have you dying on me,” Dabi mutters, and hopes it comes across as indifference, rather than desperately trying to hide his panic. “You know what I’ll have to do, right?”
His voice is quiet. Sympathetic. He doesn’t want to do this to Hawks in any capacity, but if he has to, then- well, he has to. He lights a tiny blue fire at his fingertip for emphasis.
Dabi’s cauterised a wound before. It’s not pretty, and not in any way painless.
He’s sure Hawks knows it too.
