It was late at night, and Tsukasa’s siblings were all fast asleep. Well, minus Kanade, but that was normal.
Tsukasa doesn’t stay up late that often, but lately he’s been logging into this app called “Nightcord” Kanade introduced him to. She said it helped her meet the people within her music circle, and it might help him meet new people too.
And it did. But not in the way he would expect.
This person called “Chesecak🤤” messaged him a while ago and they had started talking. They seemed pretty easy to get along with, and they certainly liked cheesecake. Anytime this mysterious “Chesecak🤤” person had a cheesecake, they would send Tsukasa a photo of the cheesecake and a thumbs up emoji.
Tsukasa would soon realise he would be getting these sort of messages (almost) every day, and it managed to become a routine of sorts. This wasn’t the only thing “Chesecak🤤” would send him though, they had some very good conversations and they actually became pretty close after a while, despite the fact that they have never heard each others voices, seen each others faces, or anything else, they have only ever messaged each other like this.
They continued to text like this for a couple weeks, until the last day of school before the summer break. This changed everything for Tsukasa and Chesecak’s relationship.
He was walking home from school, when he got a notification from Nightcord. This wasn’t that abnormal, as it could either be Kanade asking for advice on her newest song, Emu sending him a bunch of cute little gifs for fun, or of course:

Tsukasa arrives at the Wonder Stage by 5 o’clock, and they all get on with practice for their upcoming show. Strangely enough, Emu plays a lost kitten for part of it, which reminded him of Chesecak. He keeps this to himself at the moment since he doesn’t know if the rest of his troupe would approve of him being a Nightcord kitten.
Apart from that, practice goes smoothly, and Tsukasa has managed to memorise all his lines for their upcoming performance. He feels very proud of this, and decides to let Chesecak know about it.

Summer break was great, Tsukasa and Chesecak grew very close, and they text each other almost every hour if they could. They were still Nightcord kitten and moderator, but Tsukasa found himself thinking about how he wished he had someone like Chesecak when he was younger, just so he didn’t feel lonely all the time.
However, all great things eventually come to an end, which meant summer break was going to as well. That wouldn’t stop Tsukasa and Chesecak talking though, because on the first day back, they text each other the whole way walking to school. Tsukasa always had a stupid grin on his face when they would talk, and people probably thought he looked really stupid walking along smiling like a loser at his phone.

The lunch bell rang, and Tsukasa made his way to the classroom he would normally meet with Rui and Nene in. As expected, they were already there, and Rui had brought out some new creation that he decided he could work on during lunch.
“How heavy is your bag from carrying all those tools and metal scraps all day, Rui?” Nene asks. “Well, i’ve gotten so used to it, so I barely feel how heavy it is at all. Would you like to try carry my bag for a second?” He giggled, poor Nene.
Rui put all the items back in his bag for Nene to lift it, and she almost collapsed to the ground after picking it up. If it was that heavy, how much does his back hurt?
“Rui? Is your back okay? That seems pretty heavy if it can almost drag Nene to the ground.” Tsukasa walks over to the bag to try and pick it up himself. He managed to for a moment, but had to put it down because of the strain it put on his hands.
All Rui did was giggle, and quickly brought out all the equipment he had out earlier to work on his creation again while Tsukasa and Nene had their lunch to eat.
They discussed their upcoming shows for a bit, and then Tsukasa remembered he said to Chesecak he would text him at lunch.

Akito was currently wandering around the corridors in an attempt to find An and Toya, but he had no idea where they had went. Normally, they meet up in front of Akito’s class, but they must’ve forgot.
The only support he had right now was his Nightcord kitten, futurestar, who he had been texting for almost all of lunch so far. (It had only started about 10 minutes ago, but still.)
He swears he’s looked in every single classroom for them. This was probably the last corridor in the entire school, they had to be here, right?
He walks by the first classroom, nothing.
Second classroom, there’s a few people, but not An and Toya.
Third classroom, no one.
Fourth classroom had those weird second years in it, plus that one quiet girl that plays games most of the time.
Wait. Tsukasa looked like he had Nightcord open.
It also looked like he had been texting someone by the name “Chesecak🤤” which coincidentally, is Akito’s Nightcord username.
Akito… was Tsukasa’s Nightcord mod? As in, the Tsukasa that hangs about with that other weirdo?
If Tsukasa really is futurestar, maybe Akito thought bad of him for no reason then? He’d always thought he was just some loud, self-centred extrovert, but maybe he was wrong. Futurestar wasn’t really anything like that, he actually seemed like a nice guy.
The more he thinks about Tsukasa, the nicer he gets in Akito’s head.
Maybe he wasn’t that bad after all.
Wait, Akito was meant to be looking for An and Toya.
Funnily enough, they were in the classroom just to the right of Tsukasa and his friends, and he finally sat down with them to have lunch. He sent a reassuring text to futurestar, (or Tsukasa, he supposes) to let him know he found his friends and will text him when he gets home.
Akito was about to have so much fun knowing Tsukasa is his Nightcord kitten.

The school bell rings, and about five minutes later, Tsukasa gets a text from Chesecak.

The more Akito thinks about it, the more he realises it was pretty obvious that futurestar was Tsukasa. When he looks back at their old texts, he’s always bringing himself up with compliments, and even his username made it obvious. Who else goes about the streets yelling about being some sort of ‘World Future Star’?
Akito did feel a bit mean about sending him a photo of a millipede earlier, knowing that Tsukasa has an extremely terrible fear of them, but he just had to make sure that he was certain about Tsukasa being his kitten.
He wonders how many hints it would take before Tsukasa realises that he’s been texting Akito this whole time.

Akito thought he might have at least asked if he had met him and had never realised or something, but he was completely wrong. Tsukasa just resorted to thinking he was great at guessing.

The school bell rings, and Tsukasa grabs his bag and all his other items and dashes for the door. He was on the ground floor, so getting up to the roof would be a bit of a pain.
When he finally gets up there, no one is there.
Did Chesecak cancel last minute? Maybe they had some sort of club to go to.

Tsukasa looked up from his phone for a minute, and looks to his side for a moment. He felt someone sit down next to him.
“SHINONOME AKITO???” Tsukasa bounces back and yells at the top of his lungs, making Akito jump a little.
“Or ‘Cheesecake spelled horribly with a drooling face emoji,’ but I suppose that one works too now.” He said as he stood up.
“I would have never guessed it was you! Though, I suppose i’m not really good at guessing.” This made Akito laugh a little.
“I actually only found out that you were my Nightcord kitten yesterday when I was frantically searching ‘round all the classrooms to find An and Toya, and I accidentally found you, that other weirdo, and the girl that’s always playing video games in one of the classrooms I walked by, and I saw out of the corner of my eye that you were texting me on Nightcord.” Tsukasa just continued staring at Akito with this puzzled look on his face, even after he finished his little explanation.
“Ena is your sister right? That means your sister also has a Nightcord kitten! Kanade told me. Ena’s kitten is Mafuyu, right? They’re dating!” Tsukasa connected the dots out loud to Akito. “Does this mean… Does this mean we’re dating?!?!” He yelled.
“Not necessarily, but if you wanted… to we could?” Akito looked away for a moment, and Tsukasa sat back down to think about it for a second. Akito was very pretty, and he got along very well with him. Sometimes they did act like they were dating.
“I mean, I think you are very pretty, and I…”
Akito placed his hand on Tsukasa’s cheek. He had pretty big hands, so they almost fully covered Tsukasa’s ear, which prevented him from hearing whatever Akito whispered just now.
“What did you say?” Tsukasa asked.
“I said I love you, kitten.”
“I love you too…”

Akito and Tsukasa lived happily ever after as kitten and moderator/boyfriend and Kanade cried tears of joy when she found out she indirectly got her brother a boyfriend and everything was amazing and they lived a happy life together and Tsukasa helped Akito surpass rad weekend with his beautiful singing.
