Work Text:
The party was loud, pounding at HiMERU’s head like a freshly formed headache. His unit leader had the brilliant idea of hosting a party to celebrate his brother’s graduation so of course, everyone was invited. And if there was something to be said about Rinne Amagi is that wherever he was, there was alcohol. Naturally this kind of event wouldn’t have been approved by ES so Niki offered his apartment as a safe location. In other words, Rinne volunteered Niki’s place and when Niki and him inevitably started bickering no one bothered to cancel. Everything after went relatively smoothly.
With a heavy sigh HiMERU wove his way through the crowd at the door. The lights were dimmed and changed colors rapidly as the party continued. Some kind of music boomed on the speakers with what sounded like HiMERU’s own voice. He was probably mistaken though, even Rinne couldn’t be conceited enough to play his own music at a party he was hosting.
Speaking of the devil, a harsh laugh broke through the background noise as HiMERU was pushed right to where Rinne was standing. People surrounded him as he attempted to drink from a beer bottle positioned between his breasts. Which were exposed, along with the rest of his torso. His shirt was nowhere to be seen but no one seemed to care as someone yelled “Chug!” and the redhead tilted the bottle further down his throat. They locked eyes just as stray liquid dripped down his jaw to his bellybutton, the way he was leaning making it so much worse. Rinne’s throat bobbed against the leather choker in a way that was undoubtedly intentional.
Finally, he opened his mouth and the empty bottle clanked as it hit the floor. Rinne grinned predatorily.
“MeruMeru! You finally made it,” he pushed himself off the table he was leaning on, “ and here I thought you were too uptight for this sort of thing.”
“HiMERU said no such thing. He just doesn’t see any point in wasting time on…activities like you do.”
“Aww, you scared?”
“Scared of what? Catching your stupidity off of you?”
Rinne cackled and took another can off the table. It looked like another beer but the label was faded so HiMERU wasn’t sure. “Boo, you! Here MeruMeru have a sip,” the animal cracked open the seal and took some amount of gulps before handing HiMERU the significantly lighter contents. The blue-haired man huffed out of frustration and set it back down. “Stop trying to give HiMERU your leftovers. He has no need for any favors and neither does Shiina.”
“I don’t see how this has anything to do with Niki! Besides I know you only have eyes for one, don’t you worry,” Rinne fixed him with a knowing look that HiMERU decided to ignore.
“Whatever do you mean, Amagi.”
“Come on, you know you can’t hide anything from your best buddy. This Rinne Amagi has everything under control,” his eyes were focused somewhere over HiMERU’s shoulder, “I’ll help you bag your crush!” Eyes turned towards them at Rinne’s exclamation and his hand tingled at the urge to slap him.
Before the blue-haired man had a chance to react the mass of bodies started moving again and HiMERU’s back collided with another’s chest. The person was surprisingly warm and their arms enveloped his shoulders in an attempt to rebalance them both. “Thank you, HiM-“ That cursed smile appeared right in front of his eyes. Kazehaya Tatsumi held him in his arms, smiling like a saint to one of his followers. Green hair slightly ruffled and cheeks flushed his moles stood out like shitstains on carpet. HiMERU held back the urge to scowl. That son of a bitch seemed to notice a shift in the air and smiled again, apologetically. “Apologies, HiMERU-san I didn’t see you there. This happens quite at parties like these doesn’t it,” he said laughing in HiMERU’s face, “I usually don’t go to these often but, you see, Hiiro-san asked me to accompany him. Although, it seems that he disappeared.”
Gaining his composure, HiMERU righted himself the best he could. Tatsumi was a mess his face red and shirt unbuttoned down to his chest. In his hand he held a glass of whatever punch they were serving that looked like a toxic swirl of pinks and purples. HiMERU shifted his gaze pointedly, “You do know that thing is spiked?”
The green haired idiot looked at his own hand like he was seeing it for the first time. “It’s fine hic I turned twenty-one recently. But I’m happy HiMERU-san was concerned for me hehe~ ” Tatsumi’s body swayed as he giggled at HiMERU in that annoying way of his.
Fuck this.
HiMERU turned away from a considerably drunk Tatsumi when he caught sight of a certain Amagi winking and wiggling his eyebrows at him. Son of a bitch.
Leaving now would be admitting that Rinne won. Other people were likely involved in this little scheme which made everyone present a possible enemy of HiMERU. Well played, well played. If HiMERU had to leave the party with Kazehaya Tatsumi, if only to protect his image as an idol and person, he would swallow his pride and do it. Looking back that damn fool had already grabbed another glass of questionable substance and was chatting with some ReiMei graduate. HiMERU didn’t recognize them but they waved at him as he approached. Without a word he grabbed Tatsumi by the collar and dragged him away.
Pushing strangers out of the way the man earned a fair share of grumbles and drunken yells. Something flew and hit the door as he slammed it behind the two of them.
Tatsumi smiled brightly, “That was fun! I do feel bad about leaving Hiiro-kun and his brother in there…”
If HiMERU rolled his eyes any harder they would pop out into his skull. “Come on, HiMERU will take you back to your dorm.” He led the other man behind him, keeping a safe distance between them. He was forced to grab his hand almost immediately so Tatsumi wouldn’t fall down the stairs and bust his head open. It would be a pain to clean up and he probably would get questioned by the police, a whole other headache he didn’t need. No, that was the only reason he squeezed Tatsumi’s warm hand as he led him down.
Walking out on the street was of no consequence, though the drunk man looked nauseous and trembled a little again in the other’s grasp. He had just let go of his hand Tatsumi started tipping over again, to the point that HiMERU had to lean to catch him. With a frightful shudder he convulsed and murky slime erupted from his mouth. It poured onto the pavement, staining it and the two men’s shoes.
HiMERU wrinkled his nose in disgust and stepped away. He wasn’t unused to dealing with drunks but at least Rinne had the decency to keep the contents of his bowels to himself. The smell of vomit was rancid and enveloping which led him to believe some had gotten on his clothes as well. Talk about a shitty night.
The other man seemed to recover and looked at HiMERU pitifully, “My deepest apologies for all this HiMERU-san. Encroaching on your kindness and good faith by making you deal with someone as pathetic as me…I think I can make it the rest of the way without help.” Just as he said that his knees gave out and he plopped into his puddle of grime.
HiMERU scoffs, “HiMERU only does what is necessary. If you can’t even stand properly, get on his back or someone else to help you.”
With great difficulty Tatsumi was maneuvered so he had his hands wrapped around his neck and shoulders and HiMERU held on to his legs for support. This way, they continued on to the train station that was still working so late in the night so as not to navigate the streets in the dark.
…
Getting back to ES was relatively uneventful if you don’t count how Tatsumi almost fell face first on the sidewalk twice, and how he drooled all over HiMERU’s collar as he dozed off on his shoulder. They ended up at HiMERU's dorm since Tatsumi didn’t have his keys on him. At least he hadn’t vomited on HiMERU, but wait, he totally had. Rummaging with the lock he led them into the dorm. His roommates were away for the weekend which was a blessing. Now no one could question him why he brought a drunk guy from a supposed night out. God, how humiliating.
His shoes went first, then his jacket. Tatsumi struggled with untying his so he acquiesced and helped. With no other choice he led Tatsumi further in and pointed at the bed. HiMERU knew how terrible hangovers could be and it was better to suffer through them somewhere comfortable. He gazed at the other’s prone form. Ugh. The sheets would need to be thrown out afterwards. Or burned.
There are still stains on his shirt and it smells vaguely sickening. Walking towards the dress and digging around in it HiMERU emerges with a pair of clean t-shirts he keeps as spares after training.
His eyes gravitate back to the man currently on his bed. Tatsumi’s eyes were closed and his breath was even. An observer would assume he was asleep if not for the vague shifting and muttering. HiMERU pulls off his own shirt and sets on lifting arms and head to change Tatsumi’s. He pointedly avoids eye contact even as Tatsumi whimpers breathily at the sensation of cold air hitting his naked chest. It was still warm but it seemed like the alcohol had shut him up significantly so there was no problem in HiMERU moving him as he pleased. He seemed to be asleep or wasted enough to not make any unnecessary comments on how long it was taking to change his shirt, or how he was being touched with the utmost care.
So weak, vulnerable. HiMERU could anything and he couldn’t even say no. It would be laughably easy to kill, to bring HiMERU’s hands to his throat and strangle him. What irony, dying at the hands of a supposed ‘friend’. It was fitting really. A man blessed in the eyes of God, dragged back to hell by a sinner where he would suffer for all eternity. Religion was a hoax but when it came to Tatsumi it was fitting, for what greater blasphemy than masquerading as God himself.
Which was why he was prostrating himself before HiMERU now, vitals exposed, begging to be freed from his mortal flesh. To deny him would be outright cruel, but HiMERU was never kind.
Hell, he needed a drink.
Legs moving on their own he went to the kitchen. Pouring himself a glass of water his mind wandered to someone’s bright smile, shining as they called him ‘older brother’. He couldn’t quite catch that person’s name even as his chest filled with warmth and he brought the glass to his lips.
Just as he was about to take a sip, a powerful aroma of blood overtook his senses. It took all his willpower to double over right there. Staring into nothing his vision shifted, the floor under his feet morphing into hospital tile and the beeping of a heart monitor filling the silence.
Looking at the water, there was nothing wrong with it or so it seemed. Arashi might get on his case later for drinking tap water and how it’s bad for the skin. Whatever, he wasn’t that thirsty anyway.
Somehow he found himself at the foot of the bed again. Tatsumi is awake. His violet shine in the weak light as he croaks, “Kaname-san?”
HiMERU can definitely smell blood now that it’s dripping down his hand. Glass shards dig into his palm and wonders what would happen if he brought them to Tatsumi’s face. He stares blankly.
“Who?”
