Work Text:
It has been a few months since their break up. It's been a few months since they stopped seeing each other, hugging each other.
The way both handle their break up was more mature than their own friends expected.
Hoseok and Jimin expected to see a heartbroken Seokjin, crying and depressed. But instead Jin got up the next day and followed his routine to go to work, after that he went grocery shopping and by noon he was making a box with all the stuff Namjoon left at his place.
Both of his friends where shock. They where expecting tears not instructions on how to gave Namjoons things back.
In the other hand, Jungkook and Yoongi where mad, mad because Namjoon went jogging the morning after leaving his relationship and was already making plans to go back to the dating life.
Both where upset that his friend was moving a little too fast. Taehyung didn't seem to care about it that much, cause in his own words, "It's better for him to move on as soon as possible".
That pissed of the other two even more. Namjoon thanked Tae and processed to give the youngest a bag with Jin's belongings, knowing that only him would drop them at his ex's house without making any questions.
Now a few months have went by. Both of them move on. Kept working, hanging with their friends. And them making sure to never drop their exes names on this reunions.
Jimin never told Seokjin that he saw Namjoon holding another guy's hand on what it seem a date some weeks before.
But he got upset. Again.
On the same line, Jungkook never had the courage to tell Namjoon that he keeps bumping to the eldest and a new guy every two three weeks at the restaurant he works.
Making him quite hurt. He expected a wedding from them not a break up and the coldness that followed it.
And all those months they never crossed paths, not even once, not even knowing that they go to same restaurants, drink at the same clubs in the city and even knowing that Hoseok and Yoongi have something between them.
So they never imagine that the very first time they'll see each other again would be at the snacks area at a convenience store.
They bumped to each other in the most random way.
Namjoon recognized right away the grey sweater Seokjin was wearing. It was his. But he never got it back.
And for Jin. It was a little bit more overwhelming. He smelled the cologne he gifted him on their last anniversary, three months before their downfall.
The memories filled his mind and somehow crushed his heart. He didn't wanted to look. Because he knew.
So in a quite glance he took, he saw him. Standing there in the middle of the aisle and for the very first time saw him being sad.
He got out of his trance wen he heard the noise of the things he didn't realize dropped.
It was weird.
The way they break up was easy. They sat down and talked, both admitted there wasn't any more love, they run out of it.
Hard but simple at the same time.
Then, why it was so hard for them to move, to walk away, to even say a simple hello?
Maybe at the end they're still holding some love for each other, but not like they used to.
Not in a romantic way. More in a "hopefully you have a good life" and a "I'll always want you to be happy" kinda way.
So they smiled at each other. Real fondness in their eyes.
Namjoon was the first one to move away, like in his relationship. "Good to see you hyung". That dimple smile that Seokjin once adored so much appeared.
"Same Namjoon-ah" he smiled without realizing.
Both walked different paths after leaving the convenience store. In the exact same way they did months ago.
Their friends will never understand how easy it was for them.
Because when love isn't holding you anymore, you have to let go.
And they did.
But maybe they wanted to stay.
Maybe one of them wanted to fall again and maybe, the other one only wanted to be together.
But they didn't.
And actually, they don't regret it.
