Work Text:
The Kamisato siblings were sat together at their preferred booth in the Komore Teahouse. Simply enjoying the free time they had, which was getting rarer nowadays. When a loud noise interrupted their peaceful evening.
"Milord! Milady!"
The panicked scream of their chief retainer was heard. Ayato and Ayaka wasted no time before darting out the room, and they found Thoma with another person. Not exactly with, more like holding up.
It was none other than Arataki itto.
Ayato felt panic bubbling up in his chest, heart sinking while he tried to hide it.
"What happened?" Ayaka speaks first.
Thoma slowly lowers Itto down on the ground, letting the oni lean against the wall. "It was my fault, he was drinking and invited me over..." While Thoma talks, Ayato walks next to Itto, crouching down to inspect the other. His pulse seemed fine and he had no visible injuries.
"I don't see how that is your fault." Ayaka points out.
"Well, itto wanted to try this new drink, and I wanted to show him my gratitude for inviting me so I bought it." Thoma looked so painfully remorseful, that it made Ayaka feel bad for him.
"And then what?" Ayato finally spoke.
"The drink contained beans..."
Ayaka was quick to comfort the blonde male, explaining that he was human, and he made mistakes while gently patting Thoma on the back.
Ayato hums slightly, agreeing with his sister before moving to carry Itto, arms slipping under the unconscious oni to carry him bridal style, carrying the other with practiced ease.
Against everyone's expectations, the jostling from being picked up had woken the Oni. Itto grumbled quietly before speaking, eyes closed.
"Thoma... You're my bro and all... But..."
Itto had started squirming around, trying to escape from the arms that were carrying him.
"But... hahh... You shouldn't touch a married man like that..."
Itto had started to push himself away from the chest he was resting against, Ayato and thought the Oni's choice of actions were cute. At least now he knew the oni was loyal.
Ayato had somehow failed to notice how the other two people in the room had reacted. Thoma had looked ridiculous, jaw on the ground while Ayaka was no better. Eyes as wide as saucers.
"Itto, it's me."
The Oni's eyes immediately opened as well, stopping his attempts to escape. Infact, he had tried to cuddled closer to Ayato.
"Aniki !! When did you get here?"
Ayato chuckled before walking towards the room he and Ayaka were sharing before Thoma's arrival.
Ayaka and Thoma simply followed behind, still confused. Watching Ayato and a dazed itto interact was like watching two highschool lovebirds, their love sickeningly sweet with an overwhelming amount of PDA.
Ayato, who was smiling down fondly at Itto who clung to him and kept blabbering about everything and nothing. There was one main question in both Ayaka and Thoma's mind.
Were Ayato and Itto a couple?!
Although Thoma had another thought that made him think Ayato was the "other man" meddling in itto's marriage. His lord wasn't like that, at least he hoped so.
Thoma had quickly snapped out of his thoughts and rushed after his two employers. When he entered the room he was greeted with the sight of Ayato laughing softly, looking ever so lovingly at itto who had his head in the commissioner's lap, speaking slowly in a hushed and soft tone. Ayato's gloved hands gently playing with long white locks.
And of course, Kamisato Ayaka, sitting across from them while hiding a bewildered expression behind her fan.
Thoma takes a seat next to Ayaka, and she closes her fan, setting it down on the table. She takes a deep breath as if she was readying herself for something nerve-wracking.
"Brother, are you married?"
Ayato's expression remained unchanged, although his figure had stilled. Then came his response, "Did you not know?"
That only confused Ayaka and Thoma more.
"What is that supposed to mean?!"
It was one of the rare times Ayaka had lost her composure. Unsurprisingly, everytime Thoma had seen her lose her composure was because of her brother in some way.
Ayato had only smiled, "My apologies, this-" the bluenette pulled the Oni up so he was sitting as well. The larger male was disoriented at the sudden movement, letting out a quiet squeak as Ayato continued. "This is my husband, Arataki Itto."
"I mean, we could've guessed that, but since when?"
"And why'd you keep it from us!"
Ayaka didn't seem pleased, and understandably so. Her own brother, not telling her about his marriage. While, Ayaka had been telling Ayato everything about her little crush on a certain priestess from Watatsumi island.
"Well-"
"What are we talking about?"
A very enthusiastic Itto had seemingly overcome his bout of haziness, now leaning against Ayato like it was the most natural thing for him to do.
"Our marriage." Ayato answered.
"Oh! What'dya wanna know?" Itto eyes were shining as he turned to face the two sitting across from him, it was almost as if he was waiting this very moment. When a poor unsuspecting soul would be unfortunate enough to bring up the topic of his marriage to him.
"When and how did you guys start dating?"
"Good question, lil sis! It started like this..."
----------
Around 2 or 3 years ago. The two had been sitting together at Chinju Forest, huddled together under a tree and behind some bushes. For once, they weren't playing any sort of game, just sitting around, talking and laughing.
No titles, no formalities, no responsibilities.
Just Ayato and Itto.
The commissioner sat with his back leaned against a tree and itto sat down criss cross in front of him. They were facing each other and holding hands while Itto went on and on about something that happened to him recently.
They both tried to ignore it, the rapid beating of their hearts, the warm fuzzy feeling bubbling in their chest. The way they both dreaded the end of the day, when Ayato had to go back to work and Itto back to the camp with his gang.
Ayato had simply decided that today would be the day he tried to express the way he felt towards the Oni. No big deal. None at all. He could totally do this, for sure, absolutely no doubts present in his mind.
"Itto, have you ever thought about love?"
Oh wow, Ayato had been shocked he actually went through with it this time. Itto had momentarily froze, and Ayato fears he may have been too forward, but he patiently waits for Itto's response.
"Yeah, bro. Why? What's up?"
"Would you ever want to try it?"
"Bein in love and stuff?"
The bluenette hums, eyes trailing to the floor, not daring to hold eye contact. Ayato was no weak man, but Itto somehow made him feel that way. At the same time, Itto made him feel so strong, as if he was capable of destroying mountains with one flick of the hand.
"I... "
"Yeah?"
"Aniki."
"Mhm?"
A pause of silence urges Ayato to look up at the oni, and he saw that a lovely blush has begun to spread on Itto's face, "I would like to try, if it's with you."
Ayato's eyes had widened comically, jaw reaching the floor in record time as he sat there, stunned. For a moment, the oni had wanted to take back his words. He didn't know how to feel with Ayato's reaction, but one thing was for sure. He didn't want to ruin anything between him and his aniki.
When the bluenette had finally processed the words, he had jumped on the Oni, pulling the larger male into a searing kiss. It wasn't a good one by any means, but they make up for it in passion. Only separating when they run out of air.
When they pulled apart, Itto had this lovely shade of red dusting his cheeks and the tip of his nose. Pupils dilated and slightly panting.
Itto had moved closer, sitting between his aniki's legs. Ayato had his legs resting over the Oni's thighs. They leaned closer and shared quite a few more kisses. Indulging themselves in the feeling of finally being able to have the one they've longed for most.
That night, when they finally detached themselves from one another. They're respective friends and family might've asked where they've been and why they came home so much later than usual. Even if they were lectured, they didn't mind at all.
The euphoria that came from love was simply too delectable.
----------
They couple had big smiles on their faces as they recounted the events of their "get-together".
Thoma felt like he was about to get diabetes.
"What about the wedding?"
Ayato answered easily, "it was a simple affair, I asked Yae Miko to marry us, she agreed. We got the paperwork done and now we're married."
"She agreed?" Thoma spoke this time.
"Mhmm, she has a weird, twisted soft spot for Itto."
"It's not a bad thing!" Itto reprimands him immediately.
"Sorry dear, but it is a bad thing." Ayato shrugged and the Oni gave him a light smack on the arm. The two continued to bicker and tease each other. Meanwhile, Ayaka and Thoma had began to see why these two had fit together so well.
"Well, why hasn't Itto moved in?"
"I have."
"Why didn't I notice anything new in my brother's room?"
"Cause I didn't move anything in other than myself."
"Oh."
"Yeah, Itto still sleeps at the camp with his gang sometimes."
"Hmm."
Well, there was one more question Ayaka had been dying to ask.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"I wanted to find the right time, but there didn't seem to be any. Sooner or later, I forgot about it, awhile after that, I had simply assumed that you already knew."
That's weird, how does a man go about not ever bringing his marriage or lover up in conversation?
Before Thoma could bring up the question, Itto had let out a yawn, stretching his arms above his head before falling back to lie down on the ground behind him, rubbing his eyes gently.
"I think that's our cue to leave." Ayato starts, helping his husband up and the two bid their goodbyes before leaving the Teahouse, the bluenette keeping an arm around Itto's waist. Ayaka and Thoma returned the farewells.
"Thoma, please book a ship to Watatsumi island for me as soon as possible, thank you."
"Yes, milady."
