Heartbreak

Summary:

Small angsty blurb, where Joel finds out that Lizzie doesn't remember him.

Notes:

Hi. So. Uhm. I'm most certainly an active writer. Take this and enjoy or something. Sorry.

Work Text:

Rain was heavily pouring down on the kings head, as he stood in front of the - now broken - palace. Pieces of stone, monoliths and monuments were lying scattered in disarray across the whole grass-covered surface. Everything was happening so quickly, processing it was probably nearly impossible. Slight sights of smoke could be easily seen from the big crack in the middle of the building. That’s it. He has nothing left. Well, at least materialistically wise, he still had his wonderful (and definitely not taller than him) fish wife, yet he did not know if she was safe at the moment, so deciding to ignore the tears streaming down his face, Joel went on a look out for Lizzie.

The king was running around in a panic throughout the broken paths and terrains looking for his wife. Since she was, well, rather tall, she would be easy to spot, yet it felt like ages now and he still couldn’t find her. After a few more minutes of worry and running, he was quickly out of breath, yet he spotted a figure in the distance, but it was way too short to be Lizzie, they looked more Katherine-like, height wise obviously. Although they “weren’t” the person he was looking for, maybe they would know where she is, it was certainly worth a try. He waved, hoping the person would notice him and they did, instantly stopping and tilting their head. With all the strength he had left, Joel started getting closer to the mystery person, who was slowly coming into view more and more. Then, he noticed that the figure not only wasn’t Katherine but also had bright pink hair and was dressed in a purplish-white dress. Is this Lizzie? He finally got close enough to see the person's face. Holy shit, it’s Lizzie.

-Love? What happened to you? How did this happen? - The king started, slightly shocked. He did not get an answer, instead all he got was an awkward and startled look. - Lizzie?

-How do you know my name? Who are you? - She asked, her voice stern, yet a bit shaky.

That’s when his entire world fell apart.

Notes:

So uhm, yeah. Joel probably died after that too.
