Chapter Text
Kise knew something was very wrong the moment Kuroko chased after Aomine.
He was not blind, contrary to his sunshine persona, Kise was one of the more observant members of the Generation of Miracles. He strived recognition and for that he watches, he remembered Aomine's favourite magazines and positions to shoot, Midorima's confidence that stemed from doing everything he could've done or Murasakibara's style of minimising effort yet maximising damage with his height advantage.
Of course he noticed when Aomine ignored Kuroko's fist bump, and of course he knew Kuroko's wavering trust in them.
Normally Kise would try to solve this by showering Kurokocchi with affection, but it would be too late if Kuroko encountered Aomine in his confused state.
He could only hope their new coach said something productive to Aomine before Kuroko got there.
And naturally, their coach failed them.
He just didn't expect things to escalate like a snowball afterwards, with Akashi completely changing from what he could only express as level boss to final boss, Aomine and Murasakibara completely ditching practice and the open declaration of doom that the Miracles were no longer expected to be a team.
'It just doesn't feel like we're all friendly anymore' He said to Midorima, keeping his tone apathetic.
For a moment, he thought he saw Midorima's face flash with anger, as if he was repulsed by the very thought that they were once friends, and Kise winced to himself.
'All of you are making me look stupid for ever liking this team, ' He kicked a pebble too hard on his way home.
The next day, he thought he saw something, purple words on Murasakibara's head when he went into his classroom, but was quickly swarmed by his classmates asking about meaningless things such as he new photo-shot and magazine release.
Incredulously, he tried to sneak glances at Murasakibara, only to see the giant heading out of the classroom, seemingly annoyed by the commotion caused by Kise.
At the split second before he disappeared into the doorway, Kise caught a glimpse.
'Aka-chin.'
'My fault.'
Kise gaped. What was that.
