Work Text:
"Hiorin is so pretty, don't you think?"
"Where'd that come from?" The white haired male, who was downing his sports drink besides Bachira, asked. His gray eyes followed Bachira's line of sight who was locked on a certain cyan headed player.
"Just thinking." Bachira added. "Chigirin, too." He then said, now he was focusing on the speed prodigy.
"You're right." Nagi agreed quietly, eyeing the two players Bachira just mentioned.
They were currently having a practice 5 vs 5 match against each other and both Nagi and Bachira, having to finish their games minutes prior, was sitting on the side to observe the next game.
"But Hiorin is more like the soft type while Chigiri is fiercer. It's hard to choose who's better. Bet they must be popular in their school for having such a face." Bachira said again.
"What are you choosing for?" Nagi asked at the same time Chigiri scored a goal.
Bachira shrugged his shoulders and then he turned to look at Nagi with a mischievous grin. "Who do you think is prettier?"
"Huh?" Nagi blinked at the unexpected question, turned to the field where the game proceeded, then to Bachira again. Their eyes locked when Nagi said : "You."
The black haired male looks at the trapping genius. He blinked once, twice, before chuckling. "Man, Nagi, I didn't know you could be such a smooth talker. You got my heart to skip a beat with that joke, really." He nudged the white hair teasingly before continuing with his monologue. "Chigiri's hair is so pretty but Hiorin's eyes are so doll-like."
Nagi hummed in response. "But you're prettier." He repeated.
Bachira looked at him weirdly. "Did you hit your head somewhere?" He asked. "Ah! The ball did hit your head earlier in our match. I think you're having a mini concussion, Nagicchi."
"Your eyes are round and bright. Sometimes they sparkle when you're happy and it's cool when it turns dark when you're focused on the game." Nagi said, his face remained flat. "And your bang's weird–"
Bachira pouted at that, covering his bangs in reflex. "How rude!"
" –But it's cute ."
The monster dribbler froze on the spot, looking at Nagi for a sign of joke or incoming mockery about how he's just joking and Bachira actually looks gross. But even after a few moments, Nagi stayed expressionless and seemingly genuine with his words.
Blush slowly appeared on his face and Bachira jumped behind the white haired male, holding his head still from behind. "ISAGIII!"
The dark blue haired player on the field, paused to look at him.
"I NEED YOU TO AIM THE BALL HERE!!" He shouted.
"Huh?"
"HAH!? THAT'S NAGI'S HEAD!?"
"I THINK HE GOT A CONCUSSION FROM THE BALL EARLIER, WE NEED TO GET HIS MIND STRAIGHT AGAIN!"
"My head is working just fine." Nagi protested.
"IF ANYTHING, YOU'RE GOING TO GIVE HIM THE CONCUSSION IF I KICK THE BALL TO HIS HEAD– AH!!"
"You idiot! How carefree can you be to be talking during a match!?" Rin scolded as he chased the ball Chigiri had just stolen from the boy.
"Oops." Bachira laughed sheepishly and let go of Nagi to sit beside him again. "I think I'm going with Hiorin, after all. Chigiri is scary when he's angry."
"I still like your eyes and hair better."
Bachira's breath hitched quietly as he looked at Nagi for a few minutes, at loss of words, before looking down, low enough until his bangs– which usually he got called names for– covered his eyes– that those kids used to call weird and gross.
"Bachira, your ears are getting red." Nagi pointed out.
"Shut up already, genius." Bachira half whined as he buried his face on his knees. He's not used to this kind of compliments, okay!?
Nagi stared at him in confusion and then turned his attention to the other male beside him. "Hey, Reo. Did I say something wrong?"
The purple haired boy sighed. "I wish I didn't have to listen to that conversation." Was all he said while he stood up to leave the two. "Oh but I'm team Chigiri, by the way."
