Work Text:
The door opened without a sound and from the small crack, gray eyes peeked inside. There, seated on the middle of the bed in the uniquely decorated room, was none other than Nagi's boyfriend.
Bachira sat with his shoulders slightly slumped, his gaze casted down as he stared blankly at his colorful blanket.
Seeing the black-blonde haired male unsmiling is extremely rare, especially for Nagi; Because even when he's scolded harshly, called names or in the depth of despair and struggling against strong opponents during their match, Bachira would still find it in him to smile and laugh; lifting everyone's spirits (well, of course there are times where he got serious and angry, or even resort to violence– at those times, Nagi honestly find him extremely hot ).
However, the current Bachira was not smiling because he was extremely focused or serious. Instead, Nagi knows that look; that was the look that oftenly would appear on the blonde's face when he's far from the crowd– he looks so painfully lonely and Nagi hates that look on him.
Bachira turned his head away to look out of the window and Nagi finally pushed inside when he saw Bachira lifting his arms to wipe his eyes vigorously.
He eliminated the distances between them in big strides until he's one knee on the bed, big hands cupping Bachira's small face.
The male gasped and golden orbs widened in shock when he realized who was holding him. "Nagi!?"
Nagi looked at him quietly and used his thumbs to gently wipe his wet eyelashes. He then leaned in, attempting to press their lips together but Bachira pulled away.
"I'm sick." He told the white haired male.
"Oh, right." Nagi muttered and kept their distance. "Why are you crying?" He asked quietly, still cupping Bachira's cheeks.
"Crying? I'm not."
"Don't lie, Bachira."
The smaller male frowned. "I really wasn't."
"Your eyelashes were wet."
Bachira tilted his head to the side. "Oh. I was yawning earlier." He said. "I just woke up."
Nagi looked at him, disbelieving his words and Meguru giggled, lifting both hands up in a surrendering motion. "I swear."
Finally, Nagi let him go– but not before pressing a kiss on his cheek which made the blonde's lips curl into a happy smile.
"Why are you here, though?"
"You didn't reply to any of our messages. Everyone was worried." Nagi told him, brushing away his bangs that were sticking to his forehead.
"They were?" Bachira repeated in surprise.
This is another thing Nagi isn't really fond of; Bachira doesn't really believe his friends care about him.
"They are. " Nagi reached for his phone from his pocket and showed the incoming message from their group of friends, asking if he's already in Bachira's house and if the soccer player is alright.
"Oh." Was all Bachira said, his smile turning into something softer and his cheeks rosy either from his fever or him being shy.
"You still have a slight fever. Have you taken your medicines?" Nagi asked, climbing down the bed.
"I just woke up." Bachira repeated. "That's why I haven't been replying to any messages."
"I'll heat up the food for you. Can you stand up?"
Bachira gasped at the announcement. "Can you do that? I don't want to deal with an exploding microwave. Mom's not home."
Nagi waved his phone at him. "I know. Your mom told me to take care of you and gave me instructions about the food and medicines."
"Oh, wow. That was unexpected. When did she say that?"
"In the morning before she left the house. She also asked if I could stay over so I'm spending the night here."
Bachira opened his mouth to protest, most likely saying about how Nagi shouldn't trouble himself but the white haired male beat him to it.
"Can you stand and take a bath?"
The shorter boy nodded. "Yeah. I'm all sweaty, it's gross."
"Be careful in the bathroom."
"Be careful in the kitchen." Bachira returned with a playful smirk and Nagi exited the room with a pout on his lips.
Luckily, no accident happened to both Nagi and his boyfriend and they peacefully reunited in the latter's bedroom with heated porridge and freshly showered Bachira in his striped pajamas.
"Are you going to spoonfeed me?" Bachira asked giddily, a cooling patch on his forehead.
"Ehh..."
The sick male chuckled. "Figured. Give it to me."
However, Nagi did not give the bowl to him. He put the tray on the nightstand and scooped a spoonful of porridge.
Bachira watched wide-eyed when his boyfriend carefully blew on the hot food, his cheeks turning pink at the unusual display of affection– don't get him wrong, Nagi is not a cold partner but he rarely showed any other form of affection other than through physical touch. That's why seeing him offering Bachira an act of service, surprised the shorter male a little.
Bachira then looked at the spoon pushed towards him. "Are you not going to do the airplane?"
Nagi stared at him for a second before starting to move the spoon and making an airplane engine sound before putting the spoon inside Bachira's mouth.
The younger one giggled, "Can you do it one more time? But I want to record you."
Nagi shrugged, not one to care about such a thing and he let Bachira film him from when he cooled off the porridge in the spoon.
Once the bowl was emptied, Nagi sluggishly pulled himself up to put the dishes in the sink. His phone chimed just in time he finished doing the chore and Nagi walked to the front door.
Meanwhile, Bachira finally got a hold of his phone and the first thing he did was to inform his mother about his well-being as well as Nagi's stay. His mom's reply came almost immediately, enthusiastically showing her relief about Bachira's condition and a promise of coming home as soon as possible with a souvenir for him, his boyfriend and friends.
Bachira smiled and sent her a photo of himself smiling with a peace sign before moving to Nagi's chatroom.
His smile widened at Nagi's chat throughout the day, informing him about the littlest thing he does and about his day. Apparently, today the teacher found out he was secretly eating melon bread and he was scolded for the third time that month. Of course, he also asked about how Bachira was doing which sadly, he couldn't reply due to him attempting to sleep the illness away.
Lastly was their group chat; from early in the morning, Chigiri, who is in the same class as him, had scolded him for being late or possibly skipping a day of school.
But then Nagi told him that he's fallen sick and he was then showered with concern, everyone asking whether he was okay (even that stoic Rin-chan!) which again, he didn't reply to.
The group chat then was filled with their everyday shenanigans but they never forgot to include Bachira with texts like : If Bachira is here; If Bachira saw it; Bachira's going to be ecstatic– and the blonde's heart squeezed pleasantly when he read those.
His friends really care about him.
He was about to tell them about him getting better when the door to his room opened. Bachira looked up, expecting his tall boyfriend on the door but—
His eyes widened in surprise and his jaw went slack when he saw dark blue hair, "Isagi!"
"I'm here, too." Another head showed itself and Bachira gasped.
"Chigiri! What– Why are you guys here!?" He asked; surprised but the happiness was impossible to hide.
"We've come to visit the sick, obviously." Isagi said, walking inside and Bachira noticed the bags he and Chigiri brought; one is their school bags and they each have another. "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine. It's just a cold." Bachira said, the grin not leaving his face.
"That's great to hear. School's so quiet without you." Isagi said, ruffling his black locks.
"Wanna play soccer?" Chigiri invited jokingly and Bachira's eyes sparkled.
"No way. His mom told me to not let him play soccer until he's fully cured." Nagi intercepted and Bachira's smile turned into a pout.
"That's a pity. What about board games?" The pink haired male asked.
"Let's play!"
The four of them settled on the floor and Chigiri pulled some games from another bag he was holding. "Kunigami, Rin and Reo couldn't make it. So it's just us two." Chigiri explained as he lined several games in front of them. "But Kunigami lent us these games to play with you and Reo said he's buying us dinner."
"Whoa~! What is going on here!?" Bachira gasped. "Why would you guys–?"
"You're our friend, duh." Isagi nudged him. "And Rin didn't give anything but he did wish you get well soon."
"Thank you." Bachira smiled gratefully.
Isagi nodded. "You should tell him that."
"Which one do you wanna play, Bachira?"
"Uno!"
"By the way, I've been meaning to ask. What's with those bags?" Bachira asked as he waited for his turn.
"Did Nagi not tell you?" Isagi started as he put down a reverse card, making Chigiri click his tongue.
Bachira turned to Nagi, cocking his head to the side.
"I invited them to have a sleepover. I already asked for your mom's permission."
The soccer lover's mouth went slack as he looked at his friends. "Are you guys for real?"
They nodded, both smiling.
"Sleepover? Seriously!?"
"We're serious." Chigiri confirmed and Bachira spurt out incoherence from his lips.
"Damn, it's going to be so fun!?" He said, throwing down a +4 card.
"It sure will be!" Isagi agreed with him excitedly despite having to pull 4 cards into his hands.
"You bet, it will!" Chigiri then put down another +4 card and Nagi groaned; He was so close to winning.
The white haired boy pulled up the cards and when he was done, he felt himself getting pulled into an embrace before cold lips made contact with his cheek. "Thanks, Nagi!"
Nagi looked blankly at his boyfriend, no matter how many times he saw Bachira's smile, he still found himself getting mesmerized. "Yeah, sure. You still need plenty of rest, though, so no staying up late."
"Yes sir!"
The four of them continued to play the games Kunigami had lent them, dinner was fun, too, with Reo buying them sushi.
At last, as it got later, they finally set the futon for Isagi and Chigiri on the floor.
Nagi laid stomach down on the bed with Bachira who was still pretty energetic, his smile never once left his lips ever since he came to visit and Nagi thinks Bachira looks best with a smile and laughter on his face.
"Just so you know." Isagi started from where he was laying on the futon, gathering everyone's attention. "If I hear even the slightest inappropriate noises from you, I'm going home."
"I agree." Chigiri added, still fiddling with his hair care. "Except I'll kill you both first before going home."
"I didn't even think of that until you mentioned it, Isagi." Nagi said.
"We'll be as quiet as possible." Bachira said playfully and dodged the pillow Isagi threw his way. "Oops– Ah, wait, I got a bit dizzy there."
"Wha– Sorry, Bachira." Isagi said immediately. "You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. No big deal." Bachira waved him off and returned the pillow to him. "Let's talk some more before we go to bed."
"About what?" Chigiri asked, finally laying down.
"About you, Chigiri." Bachira said, looking at the pink haired male from his bed.
"Me?"
"Yeah. Who's it gonna be? Kunigami or Reo?"
Chigiri gasped, not expecting the sudden attack. "Where'd that come from!?"
"We know something's going on with you and those two." Isagi joined. "Rin and I have a little bet regarding that. Of course, I bet on Kunigami."
"Eh~ The princess obviously likes Reo more." Nagi, who was playing games on his phone, said.
"Really? I think he's more into Kunigami." Bachira frowned. "He's more Chigiri's type, right?"
"You guys talk as if I'm not here!" The male groaned, his cheeks turning the color of his hair. "Can't we talk about anything else?"
"No way~ I've been wanting to ask you this since forever." Bachira reasoned. "Tell us, tell us!"
"It's Reo, isn't it? He prioritizes you, treats you like a princess and he's rich, too." Nagi said, still focusing on his game.
"No way. Definitely Kunigami, right?" Isagi asked. "He's righteous, passionate and he really cares about you."
"Reo cares about princess, too." Nagi argued.
"Ugh, you and Rin." Isagi rolled his eyes.
"Rin-chan bets for Reo too?"
"Yeah. I keep telling him that Chigiri looks more relaxed with Kunigami but he said he doesn't see it."
"That's weird." Bachira pursed his lips. "I think Chigiri's more open with Kunigami, too."
"No way. Did you guys not look at the way the princess lights up when he sees Reo?"
"Nagi, what–!?" Chigiri's jaw was slack as he looked at the passive white haired male. He didn't know Nagi was that perceptive!?
"So, who's it? Kunigami? Reo?"
Chigiri's cheeks were completely red at that point, choosing to hide in the blanket. "Argh! I don't know!"
"Ehh, you still couldn't decide?" Bachira frowned in disappointment.
"It's not that easy." Chigiri groaned. "Especially when you know one of them will get heartbroken."
"But isn't it worse that you're leading them both on?" Nagi asked.
"Nagi's right. You need to make your choice soon." Isagi added.
"I know ." Chigiri sighed, staring at the ceiling.
"Why not date them both?" Bachira asked, leaning his cheek on the back of Nagi's shoulder.
"Hah!?"
The blonde shrugged. "That way no one gets their hearts broken."
"It's impossible! Well, it's not but–!?"
Isagi laughed. "It's absurd but if you really can't choose one, why not both?"
"You're both crazy." Chigiri shook his head. "Enough about me. What about you, Isagi?"
"Me?" The dark haired male looked at his friend. "What about me?"
"You and Rin-chan, obviously." Bachira said, throwing one arm across Nagi's back as he snuggled. The white haired boy pauses his game to turn his head to the smaller male and pressed his lips against his eyelids, pulling quiet giggle from Bachira.
"What about me and Rin?"
"Are you guys okay?" Chigiri asked, a hint of worry in his tone. "You're in a relationship right? But all we ever see you guys do is argue."
"Right, right." Bachira agreed.
"You guys have punched each other too, right?" Nagi commented.
"Oh, that. Well, Rin's a tsundere and stubborn asshole. He's mean and can be rough sometimes– welll, most of the time, but putting those aside, he can be pretty cute."
"Rin? Cute? I'd like to see that." Chigiri snickered.
Isagi smiled. "There's this one time I was not feeling well so I went home early and did not tell him. He angrily came to my house and shouted at me; of course I fought back because he was being unreasonable. I knew he's just doing that out of worry, though. In the end, he took care of me and fell asleep holding my hand the entire night."
"That's cute!" Bachira exclaimed.
"It is." Isagi nodded, agreeing. "The next day he cursed me out because his hand was all sore, though."
"Typical Rin." Chigiri said with a shake of his head. " What about you two?"
"Us?" Bachira turned to look at his boyfriend.
"It still surprised me to this day that someone like Bachira is dating a Nagi Seishirou."
"What's that supposed to mean, Isagi? Have you not heard of the phrase : opposite attracts?" Bachira pouted.
"Of course we have. It's just amazing that you guys make it work ." Chigiri smiled fondly.
"It's because Bachira never forces or expects me to do anything." Nagi said, putting his phone down.
"But that means you only let Bachira do all the work! You're the worst." Isagi said, throwing the pillow to Nagi who blocked it and threw it to his face.
"At first, yeah." The white haired male admitted. "But now I think I've gotten better."
Bachira smiled. "Yeah, you have. In our first month I'd thought he only agreed to date me so I'd stop bugging him. I remember how disappointed I was because I thought Nagi would be sweeter to me after we date but he's still the same. I cried and we confronted him, remember? Ever since, Nagi's been showing more affection and care about me."
"Ah, I remember. Bachira did come to us crying because you were so cold to him and Chigiri immediately confronted and yelled at you." Isagi said.
"Yeah. He told me to break up with Bachira if I'm not going to be serious with him." Nagi then shivered. "You're really scary back then, princess."
"Good to know." Chigiri snorted. "It's great you guys worked it out in the end."
"Yeah. I owe it to you, Chigirin."
The pink head waved him off. "It's not a big deal. Just knocking some sense into that game addict."
Nagi stuck his tongue out.
"It's getting late. We should sleep, tomorrow we still have to go to school." Isagi reminded them, pulling his blanket up to his chin. "Good night, guys."
"Night, everyone." Chigiri said with a yawn, getting comfortable too.
"Good night guys. Thanks a lot for today." Bachira called, settling on the side of the bed while Nagi covered them both with a blanket.
"I'm turning the light off. Good night."
When Nagi returned to the bed, he was immediately welcomed by shorter arms around his middle and the white haired male hugged his boyfriend back, one arm around his waist and the other around the back of his neck with fingers buried on dark locks. He pressed his nose against the crook of his warmer-than-usual neck. "Night, Meguru."
"Mhm, night. Thank you for today, Sei." He whispered, eyes forming little crescents and his tone sincere.
That made the corner of Nagi's lips curl just a little and he pressed their foreheads together. "You're welcome."
