Max was so undeniably in love with them. Rachel and the way she toyed with her feather earring anytime she was bored. Chloe and the way she would tap her fingers along to songs. How they both were so gentle, and kind and patient with Max. She had gone through hell to get them back. Had seen them both die. So. Many. Times. She had fallen for Chloe all over again when she came back to Arcadia, and fell for Rachel in one of the alternate timelines that have long since been abandoned. She finally found a way to keep Rachel from dying, which stopped the storm. She told them about her powers, but never about the things she went through to get them back. All they knew was Rachel and Chloe died, and Max saved them. She was literally carrying the weight of time on her shoulders. She could still use her powers. But she refused to. She endured all that for them.
