Chapter Text
“Hey Rubes?” Yang was on her stomach on her bed as she glanced over the edge to look at her sister, who’s at her desk studying.
The young leader pulled away from her homework and turned to face her sister. “Yeah?”
“Can you do me a huuuuge favor?” She said in a pleading tone with puppy eyes with her lip puckered in childish fashion.
“Um… Sure?” Ruby wondered if she should’ve pretended that she didn’t hear her sister. Yang won’t make her do anything crazy… right?
“Can you drop this book back at the library for me?” The blonde asked as she extended said book towards the redhead with an ever so innocent smile.
Ruby narrowed her eyes at the book for a second before she glanced back at the blonde suspiciously. “Why can’t you do it?” She wasn’t expecting that kind of request, so Yang must have something in her sleeve.
“I’ll bake you some cookies.”
Ruby stood up and quickly grabbed the book. “There better be some chocolate in them.” And with that, the girl zoomed out of the room and petals danced in the air.
That’s when Blake spoke up. “You shouldn’t take advantage of her speed like that. Or in general.” She mumbled as she glossed over the words in her book.
Weiss hummed in agreement as she looked up from her book. “Offering her cookies won’t work forever.”
Yang shrugged at their comments as she jumped to the floor with ease. “I just needed her out of the room for a quick minute. I want to talk to ya’ll about something.” A smile formed as the blonde stared at her two teammates eagerly.
“If it’s R-rated, please leave me out of this.” Weiss grumbled as she turned back to her book. But Blake wouldn’t particularly mind that…
“It’s for Ruby’s birthday.” Yang said reassuringly.
Blake and Weiss glanced at Yang curiously, slightly interested in what the boisterous young blonde has planned.
“It’s in a few months, but I want to plan a big party for her. A big one because she was able to skip 2 years to come here, even better was that she became a leader. I wanted to at least celebrate her achievements with something. And I thought maybe a big birthday party would be perfect!”
“Would that be… going overboard?” Blake asked as she placed the bookmark between the pages closed the book. She sat up from the bed and glanced at her partner. “How big are we talking?”
Yang turned to Weiss with a grin. “A ball-sized party. You would be the perfect person to help plan for this.”
“It’s true I know how they work. But… I agree with Blake. This would be… going overboard. Why not have a regular sized party?”
Yang shook her head. “No. Ruby’s my precious little sister. She deserves the best party ever!”
“Ok… so, who’s invited?” Blake asked.
“Everyone!”
“That narrows it down….” Weiss muttered and pinched her nose.
The door then opened, and the young leader walked back into the room, rose petals could be seen from behind as Ruby had used her semblance to speed her way back. “Back! I’ll be expecting those cookies very soon, Yang.” She grinned at her sister, already drooling over those delicious tooth rotting treats.
“Of course, Rubes.” Yang smiled at her little sister as the young girl went back to her desk and resumed her study. The blonde turned back to other teammates and whispered to them. “We’ll talk more about this.”
Weiss sighed and went back to her book. Blake, however, was interested in what a party is like. She never attended a party before and wanted to know more about it.
Later that night, when Yang was completely sure that her little sister was asleep, she shook both Blake and Weiss awake and told them to meet them on the rooftop. The two girls grumbled at how rough the blonde had shaken them awake, but followed the girl, nonetheless. And soon the three girls were on the rooftop, and Yang couldn’t stop grinning.
“So, I was thinking that Weiss can be in charge of the party, making sure that everything is in place and all that. Blake can be in charge of the guests. And I can be in charge of the food.” Yang explained in a single breath, which made it obvious that the blonde was a little too excited.
Weiss raised a hand. “Hold on, I haven’t agreed to do this yet.”
Blake shrugged mindlessly. “It may be a little too much, but… why not have fun with it?”
The Heiress stared at her with narrowed eyes, as she wasn’t expecting the Faunus girl to be on board with this plan.
“Weissy Weiss, this may be your chance to do something amazing and epic!” Yang started, knowing how the girl likes be perfect and top of the class. “You can prove that only you can do this.”
“First, don’t call me that again.” The girl grumbled at the nickname. “And obviously, only I can do a huge party. No one else has my last name.”
“Then you’ll do it?”
Weiss stared at the blonde, realizing that she had fallen for the girl’s trap. “Fine.”
“Yes! Ruby will have the most amazing party ever!” Yang grinned and turned to her partner. “You’re in, right?”
Blake nodded. “It could be fun.”
“Just give me a day or two to put together the things that we need to prepare for. It’ll be a long list.” Weiss muttered as she started to mindlessly think about the things that she could add or use or what she needs to buy. “It needs to be perfect…” She grumbled as she began to walk off, back to their shared dorm room.
Blake wondered if Weiss was truly the right person for this job, since the girl was a perfectionist. But the party won’t be for another few months, so there should be plenty of time.
…It should be fine. Right?

Sometimes during the night while the three girls left the room for their secret meeting, Ruby woke up with an immediate need to use the restroom and did not pay attention to her surroundings as she zoomed into the bathroom. Once she was done with her business, she walked out of the bathroom only to notice that her partner’s bed was empty.
The redhead stared at the empty bed for a few moments later before she turned around, only to see that Blake’s bed was also empty as well. She was sure that they went to bed the same time she did. She moved to check up on her big sister, but her frown deepened when her bed was empty as well. She stepped back and stood in the middle of the room in deep thought. Where was everyone? She turned to the clock to see that it was only 1:28am. She frowned at the clock and wondered where the three girls were.
But knowing how ferocious Yang can be, how sneaky and quick Blake can be, and how resourceful Weiss could be, Ruby isn’t that concerned. She could only hope that they won’t get into trouble, whatever they’re doing. Wherever they are.
She shrugged before she turned and jumped on her bed and resettled into the comfort of her blanket and soon dozed off into a peaceful slumber.

The next morning, everything was normal. The classes were normal, the lectures were boring, and it seemed to drag on and on like a bottomless pit. Lunch was eventful as always whenever Yang and Nora clashed, who needs TV when they are the perfect entertainment source? Combat class was fun but brutal since Goodwitch doesn’t do easy.
And now, Ruby’s favorite part of the day, hanging out with her teammates after classes! She approached her partner first since Weiss is her partner and all.
“Hey Weiss!” Ruby zoomed next to the Heiress’s side with a grin. “Let’s do something fun! Maybe see a movie? Spar? Make cookies?... Or be boring and study…?” She trailed off as the white-haired Heiress ignored her as she had her eyes glued into the book in her hands. “Weiss?”
“Hmm? I’m busy.” The girl muttered softly, a little distracted with the words she’s trying to process from the book.
The leader leaned down to check the cover of the book, only to see that there’s no cover, so she has no idea what book Weiss is reading. And it looks really boring. “Okay… I guess I’ll… leave it to you then.” She stayed still, waiting for her partner to at least say something. But Weiss remained silent and still as she stared at her book. She sighed before she walked away.
She was hoping to at least hang out with her partner, but she’s busy. That’s okay though. She still has two other person she can hang out with!
It took the girl 10 minutes to find her missing teammates, or one of her teammates. Blake was in the courtyard talking with Pyrrha. She grinned as she bolted over to the and stopped in front of them, shocking the two girls from her sudden appearance. “Hi Blake! Hi Pyrrha!”
“Hello, Ruby.” Pyrrha smiled at the redhead.
“Ruby!” Blake jumped and quickly recollected herself. “How are you?”
“I’m great. Want to hang out? Weiss is too busy. So, thought maybe you want to do something fun?” Ruby grinned and barely contained herself from jumping up and down.
Blake gave her a leader an apologetic smile. “I wish I could, but I’m doing… research and Pyrrha was helping me out.”
Ruby’s excited energy dissipated as she heard the word ‘research’. “I don’t remember the professors handing out assignments like that.” She frowned as she tried to recall the latest lectures and how she almost drifted off to sleep because of Professor’s Port rambling. Did she miss something?
“It’s not related to any of the classes. Don’t worry.” Blake reassured, as if she knew what the younger girl were thinking.
Ruby stared at the Faunus before she glanced at Pyrrha who stood there silently and patiently. “Oh. So, what’s the research about?” She asked as she turned back to Blake.
“It’s… about how to deal with people?” Blake cringed at that response the moment it left her mouth.
“What’s the purpose of the research?”
“It’s kinda… personal?”
Ruby studied the girl and turned to Pyrrha, who haven’t move at all yet. Like a statue. “Oh. So, you want to know how to deal with people because Pyrrha dealt with most of them?”
“Exactly!”
Pyrrha nervously smiled at the two teammates but remained silent.
“Hmm, well, sorry for bothering you two. I’ll just go and find my missing sister then.” Ruby turned and mentally thought that she should check the training rooms or the gyms. “See you guys later!” And with that, the girl disappeared in a burst of rose petals.
Blake let out a huge breath that she unconsciously held in as the girl finally left. Pyrrha felt amused by this, in the very least. “How to deal with people? So, you’re not interested in knowing about send invitation to guests?”
Blake grumbled at that. “Ruby just startled me; it just came out.”
“Though, aren’t you planning the party a little too early? Her birthday won’t be for a few months.” Pyrrha noted, not that she’s against early planning. But this is too early.
“Yang suggested to do that… she wanted to do it.”
Pyrrha smiled at how much the big sister loves to dote on the little sister. It was nice to see that. “That’s nice.” She felt a little envious of the sibling love. Sometimes it’s a little lonely to be an only child. And it seemed that Blake could agree as well.

Meanwhile, Ruby had stepped into the gym, looking for a specific person with a blonde mane. But she wasn’t there. So, she checked the training rooms. But she wasn’t there either. She grumbled to herself at the annoying chase and took out her scroll and called her sister.
The scroll beeped once before it went to voicemail. She called her sister again but was brought to voicemail again. Ruby groaned and put the scroll back into her pocket. Everyone’s busy, eh? That’s fine… it’s just one of those days. There’s always tomorrow! A brand-new day!
With that, she made her back to the dorm. The dorm was empty, no signs of the girls which made the young leader a little lonely. And she was looking forward to at least hang out with one of them. She sighed before she walked to her desk and took out her assignments from her classes and frowned when she had already completed them. Guess that’s one of the benefits of having a perfectionist as a partner….
Weiss had always insisted that they finish their assignments when they are assigned so they can get it over with and to avoid missing the deadline. Weiss had to drag the young leader to the library to finish the assignment that had been assigned that same day. Those are the days she hated the most. But Ruby does feel accomplished when her homework is finished, and she’s all caught up.
Ruby set the assignments back in her bag and walked over to her drawer and took out several comics and jumped on her bed and quickly engrossed herself with the fantasy of the comic. Any ounce of loneliness quickly evaporated as she begun to enjoy reading the lines.
