Chapter Text
Someone with an obnoxiously loud voice walked into the auto shop. Keith softly groaned and looked up.
The loud voice belonged to soneone with tanned skin and crinkled bright blue eyes.
They were on the phone, of fucking course. Couldn't not blast off others eardrums to talk to a person that wasn't even there while you could very well have the whole conversation outside and not disrupt anyone else.
keith sat there getting progressively more annoyed as the person's voice blasted through all his concentration. 'That's fine' keith thought gripping his pencil to the near snapping point 'I wasn't doing anything anyways, carry on.'
"You worry far too much Coran! It's not thaaaat big of a deal... uh huh... yeah! I'm just at the auto shop getting my car checked out... Of course! There's no way I wouldn't take some precautions! I know I can't take it with me... yeah I know I'm being kinda dumb but it's my precious blue! I can't just let her rot! Yeah okay... Good talk, bye!"
Finally when the man hung up. Keith closed his eyes to collect his annoyance.
"Wow the service here is terrible."
Keith's eyes snapped open "excuse me?!" He seethed.
"No excuse me cuz damn, did I walk into a modeling agency?" He said giving keith a once over.
"No. This is an auto repair shop, why are you here?"
He huffed a bit in possible amusement "my baby, my precious blue got into a bit of an accident a couple days ago and I need her fixed."
"Where's the car now?"
"I parked it round back."
Keith nodded "okay, I'll see if shiro's available to work on it." He said not even waiting for the man's answer to turn around and leave through the back. "Shiro?"
"In here."
"We have another car round back."
"Okay! I was actually just about to take a break. I can do a quick check up and see how long it could possibly tak-" a shrill scream cut through his sentence and both of their eyes buldged.
They both ran to the direction of the scream coming to the main office. They took in the scene that awaited them.
The guy that keith had met earlier was now on the floor in the shadow of a stranger lurking above him with a vicious snarl.
He saw his company and glared before booking it out of the store, keith gave to chase before shiro pulled him back. "We don't know how many of them there are if you give chase it could end badly."
Keith huffed and crossed his arms looking away from Shiro.
"You okay?" Shiro asked leaning over the stranger to get a better look at him.
"I'm fine!" He laughed getting up and brushing himself off. "I really shouldn't have come here." He chucked with a hand on his neck. " I just wanted blue to be taken care of you know?" He gave them a hopeful look but quickly looked down and sighed. "Coran was right... I should-I should just go." He pointed to the exit and turned around but before he could fully walk out the door a blur of bright orange came in.
"Lance! How could you just hang up!?" He marched up and poked lance in the chest. "You need to take these things more seriously!"
He seemed surprised at how chastised lance was then looked to Keith and Shiro, seeing how panicked they looked and sighed. "Lance!" He groaned running a hand down his face. "You can't keep doing this! One of these days you won't get nearly as lucky!"
"I know..."
"Do you?! Cuz I'm starting to think you really don't!"
lance sighed and looked down. "I do! I know!" He put his hands to his face and sighed his shoulders sagging. "But lately, I've been going stir crazy!" His hands dragged down his face and he groaned. "I haven't left my house in weeks! and- and I don't know how I'm going to handle moving to the literal middle of nowhere... Blue isn't doing too well and if I also got to have a conversation with someone as well... well that wouldn't have been too bad either..."
Coran gave lance a half wortied half sympathetic look. "I get it, this has been hard for all of us, you especially, but were doing this for you're own safety and ignoring us isn't going to do anyone any good."
Lance looked down ashamed. "I know, I just! It's so frustrating!" Tears pricked at the edge if his eyes. "And now I'm going to the middle if nowhere. I don't know if I'll survive with no human contact."
"I'm sorry." Shiro cut in. "Was that a stalker?"
Lance looked at him with his lips pressed in a thin line. "Yeah..."
"And your going to someplace where there are no people? And what he's just... not going to follow you?"
"Look I know it sounds stupid but I'm trained in martial arts and I'm tired of people getting hurt because of me." He crossed his arms looking bitterly at the wall behind them.
Shiro smiles gently at him. "I get it, I do. And I know I'm a stranger who probably has no right, but putting yourself in unnecessary danger seems stupid."
Lance scowls trowing up his hands. "What else am i supposed to do?!"
Keith shifted his weight and crossed his arms. "I don't know, hire a bodyguard dumbass? Get the police involved? There are so many things you could do." He says rolling his eyes. "Way better than running to freaking nowhere."
"You think I haven't tried that?!" Lance yelled. "We've gone through 3 different bodyguards!" He snarled. "And the police brush me off saying I'm overreacting! Or they did... now their just saying they have no leads!" He grabbed his hair frustrated. "We're not getting anywhere and I'm running out of options!"
Shiro put his hand on lances shoulder. "You're not out of options," lance shot him a confused look. "we can help you."
Keith scowled at shiro. He knew Shiro had a heart of gold and that this person needed help. Hell even Keith felt bad for him! But they didn't even know this guy!
Shiro returned a disappointed look back.
Keith just scowled at the ground instead.
Lance looked incredulous. "How would you guys help if freaking bodyguards and the police can't help?!"
"We're both from the army and have fighting experience. We can also call two other people who are private investigators who double as bodyguards as well. If you have four people watching your back and two people investigating you should be fine."
Lance looked at Shiro worried. "I might turn out fine... but you guys could die! Are you crazy!?"
Yeah! Keith thought giving shiro the stink eye, Are you crazy?!
"We can't just leave you to die or get hurt! What would that make us?"
Alive! Keith thought but begrudgingly agreed to shiros words. Even if the guy was an asshole he couldn't leave him to die.
"Your Friend doesn't seem so keen." Lance pointed out.
Keith glared at him. "That's just his face" Shiro said with a shit eating grin.
Keith whipped his head towards Shiro giving him an offronted look.
Keith heard a delighted giggle, he turned and saw Lance with a hand covering his mouth with a light in his eyes.
Annoyed as he was to admit it lance was really pretty when he smiled.
He grumbled but didn't sat anything farther.
"Do you have a safe house we could go to coran?" Shiro asked.
"As happy as I am that you and your friends are willing to help. I'm not sure we can trust you."
Shiro smiled back at him. "That makes sense."
"We'll conduct back up checks, we really don't have the time though... We'll hire a couple bodyguards to protect lance along with you two. When slash if they come back all good your all good to go! Well also need to see your ID and social security number."
"That's reasonable, but we also have to make sure you guys are trustworthy. I know I did just say that I'll help, but handing out my social security to two random strangers is..."
"I well... I guess I didn't think of that." Coran said twisting his mustache. "But of course! I'll give you the address to our company and you can see for yourself!"
Coran handed them a business card, Shiro bowed his head slightly and smiled. "I'll see you soon then. Is there a certain time you want me to stop by?"
"As soon as possible! We really need your help."
Shiro waved as they walked out the door and turned to Keith.
"Not that I don't agree with you," Keith said, "but this feels iffy."
"Yeah..." Shiro sighed rubbing the back of his neck. "But I can't just not help him! He looked terrified and he was going to go to the middle of nowhere what was i supposed to do?"
Keith put a hand on shiros arm to calm him down. "I agree, doesn't mean we can't get cautious though. This is a really weird situation and we're out of our deph so let's try and get as much information as we can before we leave."
Shiro smiled at him. "Sounds good to me."
