Will fight for you

Summary:

“You put my son in danger,” growled Vegas.

“I’m sorr-”

“Quiet,” said Pete, quite frankly tired of his whining and he then sighed along, pressing his lips together as he looked up.

“K-kid,” said the man in hope to gain some sympathy. However, before he managed to step closer to Venice, Vegas stepped to him.

“And where the hell do you think you’re going?!”

“I-I was just going to-”

“Sit back down,” said Pete and gave him a smile. A smile that sent shivers down the man’s spine. “Wasn’t that right?”

[Venice overhears how one of Vegas’ clients is trying to steal his money. Once Pete and Vegas find out that the client dared to threaten their son… it’s game over.]

(My muse was being stubbron, so I know the prompt is different - I'm sorry ;0; - but I kept the premise of the prompt intact: Vegas and Pete being protective of the kids <3. I hope you will still like it).

Work Text:

Venice had a frown between his eyebrows as he was listening to the conversation. He was hanging out in front of the mansion when he heard someone talking around the corner, so he decided to listen to what was going on and he quite quickly realised that he was dealing with the worst kinds of people – traitors. Venice pressed his lips together, but still waited behind the corner because he wanted to be sure of what was going on. The more he listened, the more he was getting angry, though.

“Boss, do you think it will work?” asked a scared voice and Venice narrowed his eyes when he heard someone laughing.

“Yes, trust me,” said the other voice.

“Boss, if we get caught that we’ve faked the documents,” he said. “You know what the devil can do to us,” he whispered and Venice chewed on his lower lip. The devil was dad, wasn’t he? Venice was already pissed off. He was angry when he heard other people referring to Vegas as the devil. Venice was ready to fight every single one of them that dared to-

“We won’t get caught. The documents look real.”

“He’ll have questions why we’re losing his money,” said the scared voice and Venice was slowly starting to realise what was going on. Oh, they were traitors indeed. Not only that they were calling Vegas the devil, but they were also trying to trick Vegas and steal his money? Oh, Venice wasn’t amused at all. He pressed his lips together.

“You’ll repeat what I’ve told you,” said the other voice.

“That business has been slow lately,” he said and the man snickered.

“That’s it,” said the man and laughed again. “Don’t be too worried. The devil is terrifying, but he’s not too bright. It’ll be easy for us to trick him,” he said and Venice felt his heart dropping when he heard that, feeling anger bubbling up from within and he pressed his lips together. Venice was pissed off and he slowly closed his eyes.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Like papa said, getting angry was normal, but he needed to calm down before he said or did something that would result in him getting in trouble. He was eavesdropping, he knew that it could get him in trouble. All that Venice really needed to do was to get over to Vegas and Pete and tell them what he heard. He knew that papa and dad would believe him; they always did.

However, it was hard to just walk away without defending Vegas. Venice wasn’t really scared to stand up for people that he loved. Not even Vegas’ clients and Venice knew that they were armed. Now that Venice was older, he knew a little bit more about the family business, but not everything. Still, there was one thing that he was sure of and that was that Vegas and Pete were the best parents in the whole wide universe!

Who were these men, anyway? Venice knew that papa and dad were getting ready for a meeting, so they were probably there for the meeting. And they were going to try tricking Vegas?! Ah, Venice knew that they wouldn’t be able to get away with it. Vegas wasn’t stupid, like they thought. Plus, Pete was going to be there as well, so Venice didn’t know who to feel sorry more for.

“Man up, don’t be such a fucking coward!” snapped the man and Venice snapped back to reality, looking from around the corner so that he could see what was happening and he narrowed his eyes when he saw two men.

Really, they thought that talking about their plan in front of the mansion was a smart thing? Venice could almost laugh because that was the single dumbest thing that he had ever heard. Someone was bound to overhear them and Venice just sighed along. Vegas and Pete were going to take care of them.

Venice continued peeking from around the corner and his eyes widened when he saw that one of the men managed to see him and he quickly hid again, but he knew that it was already too late. Venice swallowed thickly and he quickly started hurrying back to the mansion, in a hurry to get inside. Venice wasn’t too worried as he knew that the bodyguards were everywhere to keep him safe, but he still felt freaked out.  But, the two men managed to catch up to him and Venice swallowed thickly when he saw one of them stepping in front of him and he quickly stepped back, hitting the wall with his back and he huffed.

Well, that wasn’t good.

“Who are you?” snapped the taller man. The one that was barking orders before. Venice didn’t respond, he just kept standing there and that seemed to piss off the man, leaning closer and he almost grabbed Venice, but Venice slapped his hand away, which riled up the man even more. “Answer the fucking question, kid,” yelled the man, Venice swallowing thickly.

Venice was backed up against the wall.

“You’re trying to steal my dad’s money,” hissed Venice back, clearly pissed off. His heart was hammering against his ribcage, he was clearly nervous as hell, but he didn’t let that show. Vegas and Pete always told him that when he was in a dangerous situation that he needed to appear calm. So that was what he did. But, now that he was older, he knew how to defend himself.

“Boss!” piped up the shorter man. “He’s the devil’s son!”

“My dad is not the devil,” hissed Venice back, forming fists with his hands and he gritted his teeth. The taller man seemed surprised when he finally connected the dots and he cursed under his breath.

“This is all your fault!” snapped the man and shoved the shorter one back. “Just because you are stupid, useless, worthless-”

“Boss, I’m sorry,” almost sobbed the other one. He was close to tears – oh, they were both scared now. Was dad really that scary? Venice blinked a few times and then he cleared his throat. “We’re done for. Let’s run while we still can. If he finds out that we-”

“Silence,” hissed the man and the other one stopped talking. “He doesn’t have to find out,” he said and Venice cocked his head to the side. “He’s just a kid. We can make sure he doesn’t talk,” he said and Venice felt shivers going down his spine when he heard that. What were they going to do? Hurt him?

“Boss, don’t-”

“I know what I’m doing!” yelled the taller man. It was clear to Venice that he was scared out of his mind and Venice chewed on his lower lip. “Kid, you will do as we say,” said the man.

“Or else what?” asked Venice, still too angry. He wasn’t going to let someone like that intimidate him.

“You will keep quiet if you know what’s good for you,” said the taller man and just as he was about to grab Venice again, the teen ducked down, slowly getting away from the man. Venice was fast on his legs and he pushed the tall man against the wall, hard. He knew that this was his one chance to get away. “Get him, you imbecile, don’t just stand there, get the brat!” yelled the man, pissed off, now furious.

Venice kicked the shorter man, pushed him to the ground and then started running. Just as he started running, the bodyguards started running towards him as well and Venice sighed in relief. God, the two of them were in trouble now!

When Vegas and Pete found out what happened, it was really hard for the two of them to not rip the two men to shreds right there and then. Honestly, it wasn’t even about that they were trying to steal Vegas’ money. Vegas couldn’t give a flying fuck about the money anymore. The amount that the man owed him was nothing compared to the rest that Vegas owned.

But it was the sheer fact that the two men attacked Venice that-

“We would never dare to steal your money, Mr. Vegas,” said the shorter man.

“I don’t give a damn about the money, you attacked our son,” hissed Pete and  Vegas formed fists with his hands, pressing his lips together. Venice was there as well, he needed to calm down. First, he needed to take Venice to another room and make sure that he was alright.

And then… oh, there was nothing that could save these two.

“Don’t tell me that you’re choosing to believe a brat instead of me, ” said the taller man and thus he made his biggest mistake that he could have. Pete pressed his lips together, forming a thin line with his mouth.

“Mr. Vegas,” stammered the other man, sweating even more as he was trying to come up with an excuse… anything to get him off of his back. He knew what kinds of things Vegas had been capable of if someone tried to cheat him off of his money.“We’ve been working for you for ages, you should know me by now that I would never try to-”

“No, no, no, no,” said Vegas, now switching to English and he smiled, slowly tipping his head to the side. “Not with that excuse. That won’t work with me. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve worked for me ,” said Vegas. “I’m in charge now, so you listen to me. Is that understood?” he asked and the man frantically nodded. “You put my son in danger,” growled Vegas.

“I’m sorr-”

“Quiet,” said Pete, quite frankly tired of his whining and he then sighed along, pressing his lips together as he looked up. “It’s both of us you will have to deal with for this,” said Pete and the shorter man flinched again, Venice eyeing both of them.

“K-kid,” quickly said the shorter man and stepped onto his legs, breathing hard and unevenly as he hurried over to Venice, to gain some… sympathy? However, before he managed to step closer to Venice, Vegas stepped in between the two of them, glaring at him and he shook his head.

“And where the hell do you think you’re going?!” asked Vegas, raising his voice.

“I-I was just going to-”

“Sit back down,” said Pete and gave him a smile. A smile that sent shivers down the man’s spine and he swallowed thickly. “Wasn’t that right?” he asked and the man swallowed thickly and looked at Venice.

“My boy, please tell them I-”

“You’re really testing my patience now,” said Vegas and grabbed the man’s collar.

“Vegas,” whispered Pete and Vegas looked at him. “First let’s make sure Venice is alright. Later, we’ll make sure they’ll pay,” said Pete and Vegas slowly released the man. It was true, he didn’t want to snap completely in front of Venice either. That was why he stepped back and yelled for guards to keep an eye on the two of them while he and Pete checked up on Venice.

“Venice, are you okay?’’ asked Pete, gently touching Venice’s shoulder. Pete’s hands were shaking and Venice could see that. Vegas was holding back as much as he could. He was walking around in circles while the two men were kept in the other room, under the surveillance of the bodyguards. The things that Vegas was going to-

“I’m fine, papa, don’t worry,” said Venice. “I have to work on my spying skills,” said Venice, trying to make a joke out of it because he didn’t like how worried Vegas and Pete were. He knew that it was natural for the two of them to worry about him, but he still… wished that he could do something to soothe their hearts.

“Did they hurt you?” asked Vegas and stepped closer to Venice, gently holding his hand, turning his arm around so that he could see if Venice had any bruises.

“Tell us the truth,” said Pete.

“Please,’’ said Vegas, chewing on his lower lip. The guilt was slowly getting better and Venice in the end sighed and he slowly nodded.

“They threatened me,” said Venice. “They really thought they would manage to silence me. Well, they pushed me into the corner, but that was about it. Before they could really do something, the bodyguards were there already,” he said and Venice growled, gritting his teeth.

“They weren’t fast enough,” hissed Vegas and slowly pulled back. “I’ll deal with them. They should be doing their job, what the-” Vegas stopped himself and he took a deep breath. Venice was already through a lot, so he didn’t want to scare him any further. Vegas didn’t want to lose his composure in front of Venice. He didn’t want Venice to-

“I was fast enough,” said Venice. “I shoved one of them so hard into the wall so hard that he almost fell to the floor and I kicked the other one and pushed him to the ground. It was really easy,” said Venice and Pete sighed in relief. “Papa, really, I am okay,” said Venice, but Pete still wrapped his arms around him and gave him a hug.

Venice could feel that Pete was shaking as well. But, as he stayed there with Venice in his arms he managed to calm down a little bit and he slowly pulled back, having a little smile on his face, pressing his lips together when it finally registered what Venice just said – Venice managed to defend himself just fine.

“They will pay for this,” hissed Vegas and Pete nodded.

“Yeah, they’re not getting away with attacking Venice,” said Pete, his eyes dark with anger, but his facial expression soon softened up when he looked at Venice. He didn’t want Venice to be afraid of him, he knew he could- “You defended yourself out there,” said Pete and sighed in relief. Venice nodded happily and grinned.

“I did. I made sure I kicked the idiots as hard as I could,” said Venice and looked at Vegas. “Just like dad taught me,” stated Venice proudly. Vegas managed to smile just a little bit, still too upset about the whole thing. He was going to feel better after dealing with those two and he cleared his throat and stepped closer to Venice.

“It’s important you know how to defend yourself, but you shouldn’t have to,” said Vegas. “I’m sorry,” he said and Venice cocked his head to the side. “That I wasn’t there to keep you safe. I should’ve… What the hell were the bodyguards doing?” roared Vegas and could see the two bodyguards in the corner shivering with fear. Good, let them be afraid, maybe that would teach them a-

Vegas’ train of thoughts was interrupted when Venice suddenly stepped closer to him and hugged him, because it seemed that that was something that Vegas needed and Venice gently tapped Vegas’ back as he pulled back, taking a deep breath in.

“There, dad, see,” said Venice. “Stay calm.”

Vegas smiled softly and he looked at Pete. Vegas was far from being calm, but Venice managed to make him feel calmer.

“I’m like you and papa now, I can also fight properly,” said Venice and Vegas gave him a little nod and then he sighed, placing his hands on top of Venice’s shoulders.

“You don’t have to, though, okay?” asked Vegas. “Leave the fighting to Pete and me,” he said and Venice gave him a little nod.

“The two of us will protect you, always,” said Pete and Venice nodded. That much he knew, yes.

“You threatened my brother?! ” asked Paris, raising her voice.

Pete and Vegas were just about to start dealing with the two idiots when Paris barged into the room, the two bodyguards running after her, but she was too fast for them and Pete was immediately up on his legs when he saw their daughter stepping into Vegas’ office, where they were. For now.

“Paris, what are you-”

“Boss, we’re sorry. She was too fast and we couldn’t stop her,” said one of them and Vegas placed his hands together and took a deep breath. That day, all of his men were completely useless with their job?! Vegas gritted his teeth, he wasn’t amused, but for now he had to calm Paris down and make her leave the room. He didn’t want-

“Leave,” growled Vegas and the two quickly got lost, Pete trying to lead Paris away, but it all happened so fast.

Venice didn’t tell Paris who attacked him first, but it didn’t really matter. When Paris marched towards the two, the shorter man stood up and Paris formed a fist with her hand and punched him, right into his stomach. Hard. The man folded in half and Vegas’ eyes widened, holding back his laughter when he saw the pain written all over his face.

“Nice punch,” said Vegas proudly, but then the taller one stepped up as well. He wasn’t really thinking what he was doing – he was humiliated enough, he wasn’t going to let a little girl humiliate him any further. So, the man stood up and before he could do anything, Pete pounced at him, slammed him back against the wall and grabbed his shirt.

“Stay. Back,” growled Pete, his vision red with anger. He lost it when he saw the taller man coming closer to Paris and Vegas smiled proudly when he saw Pete holding the man against the wall, quickly stepping in front of Paris, protecting her as well.

“Kick him, papa!” cheered Paris and Pete turned his head. “I’ll take on the shorter one, we can fight together!”

“Fucking brat,” hissed the taller one and Pete gritted his teeth and leaned closer.

“Shut up and stop talking,” growled Pete. “I will make sure that you and your little buddy over there will both pay for this,” he said and Vegas quickly grabbed Paris’ hand when she wanted to go over to do some more punching.

“Dad!”

“It’s not safe here, Paris,” said Vegas and Paris pressed her lips together because in her opinion it wasn’t fair. She also wanted to be there to kick those two horrible men. They attacked Venice. But Venice did tell her that he managed to fight off both of them pretty easily, so they weren’t that scary. Pretty much, Paris was sure that she could take them on herself.

“Paris, listen to Vegas,” said Pete, his eyes on the man that he was holding and the look in Pete’s eyes sent shivers down his spine. Pete grinned when he saw the fear in his eyes and he hummed along. “Leave us to handle this, go to Venice,” said Pete and Paris understood what that tone of voice meant. She wasn’t afraid of papa or anything, but she knew that she needed to listen. No matter how much she wanted to kick those two idiots, she decided that-

“Okay,” said Paris and she formed fists with her hands as she looked at the two again. “You two are lucky that I didn’t get to kick your butts,” she said and then she rubbed her hands together. “Papa, dad, make sure to kick them once for me as well,” said Paris and Pete gave her a little nod.

“Don’t worry, Paris,” said Vegas and folded up his sleeves. “We’ll make sure that they will learn their lesson,” said Vegas and when he said that he snickered when he heard the shorter man yelping, almost calling out for help.

Paris was satisfied with that answer, so she just happily left the room and went to check up on Venice.

And Vegas and Pete made sure that they dealt properly with the two men that dared to put their children in danger.
