Chapter Text
“hi, i’m lilia , lilia vanrouge—the boyfriend… and you are?” he stands beside you with his arms wrapped around your waist the whole time. his face shows a disinterested look while he judged the prick talking to you.
“nice to meet you!” your friend then courteously introduces himself with a big smile. you had to nudge your boyfriend to be at his best behavior since he didn’t wait a second later to roll his eyes at him.
sure, he’s your friend but is it necessary that you hang off of every word he uttered? it wasn’t like he was saying anything anyway.
he didn’t need to utter another word; his expression, his eye rolls, and his sneers said enough. he didn’t feel guilty for his actions, he wanted you and your friend to know how mad he was right now. it wasn’t out of insecurity… of course not! that’s absurd. what was there to be insecure about? he was a fae and faeries are known to be very ethereal looking after all.
obviously, he wasn’t thrown off by the fact he finally met his match in the looks department. he trusts you, he knows you aren’t shallow enough to leave him for another guy due to his attractive looks. however, the attention you gave him did irk him and it’d help to have some reassurance that he’s still your number one pretty boy.
“pray tell, my dear human, who’s better looking? me or him? don’t be shy.” he props an arm on the desk and rests a hand on top of yours, facing you with an impish gleam in his eyes. a familiar sight you often see, might i add.
“lilia…” you groan in mild annoyance, then lean back against your seat to get a good glance at your boyfriend, wordlessly telling him how ridiculous he was being at the moment. “you know that i love you, right? why are you asking me this dumb question?”
“i know that, love…” he taps your hand encouragingly. “now, can you please stop avoiding the question and answer it? so who’s more handsome: me or him? ”
you cheekily roll your eyes in return; it doesn’t go unnoticed and he lightly pinches your palm to hurry up. “ow! that hurt! was that necessary?” you cry out with a pout, then rub your hand and narrow your eyes at him not a minute later. “fine… jeez, it’s you! you’re more handsome!”
lilia beams with a laugh, “heh, i love you too!” he stands and leans over to place a quick peck on your cheek. you swat his chest, though, it merely pushes him to start peppering your face with more kisses.
he was quieter and more withdrawn than usual. and it’s safe to say that his silence unnerved every single person present in the room. there was a different air surrounding him in the moment and, for lack of a better term, it was intense, which is very unusual and unsettling to witness.
silver made it a point to eye the person you spoke to with a sharp and unwavering gaze. it wasn’t meant to size him up, he did it to determine if he ever saw this so-called friend of yours. after all, why else would you be grinning so widely? and why else would you be laughing so much? if he wasn’t an old friend, then who was he? an ex, maybe?
he hoped not.
one thing he noticed, though, was how attractive said friend was. it was a simple observation, yet not a detail he can overlook and it fuels the ever-growing questions in his mind at a faster rate. huh… maybe be was an ex? he does fit your type. he had princely features and carried a regal air—a trait commonly found in RSA students.
if your friend was too dense to notice him, he won’t hesitate to go over where you stood, rest a hand on the small of your back, and excuse you from the conversation just like how his father taught him. fortunately, he didn’t have to because his gaze alone was enough to make him uneasy and end the interaction sooner.
“who were you speaking to earlier?” silver asks, surprisingly composed compared to the real question he initially wanted to ask. it went along the frantic lines of “who is he? and why do you know him?”
“him? he’s an old friend of mine,” you reassure with a giggle then loop your arms together while you stroll back to his dorm after a long, tiring day out. “it’s been a while since i’ve seen anyone from my childhood… maybe this is a sign that i should reach out? i think he studies at RSA now…”
his eyes widen. he was correct about his assumption . albeit it was no celebrating matter, it left him feeling more uneasy. your friend wasn’t just handsome, he was deviously charming too. now, couple that with his romantic interest in you and he’s got a recipe for disaster.
you tenderly squeeze his arm to capture his attention. “why do you ask? is something wrong?”
although an innocent question, it causes him to panic. does he tell you the truth? or hide it and play it off? lilia never told him what to do in these kinds of situations.
“i don’t like the way he looks at you,” silver finally confesses, forcing you to stop in your tracks. he’s jealous? you thought with the voice inside your head nearly squealing. you eye him incredulously, and it pushes him to explain. “he looks at you the way i look at you… and i don’t like that .”
“ oh, silver ,” you coo, pulling him towards you. your, very tall, boyfriend had to lean down to meet you at eye-level. you rest a hand on his cheek to make sure he was looking at you then stress, “you have nothing to worry about… nobody will ever get in between us, okay?”
“okay.” he slowly nods at you, visibly calming down. he then leaves a shy kiss on your palm, wordlessly saying thank you for comforting him.
