Unique: Avatar The Way Of Water

Summary:

(Y/N) wasn't the only baby to be left alone with the humans on Pandora. In her early teen years, she ventured off in amazement at the foreign world and decided not to go back. Now by herself a few years later, living in an abandoned lab shed, one particular avatar finds her. Neteyam knew he was going outside of father's rules, finding himself face-to-face with another human. He finds her quite interesting. If it meant seeing her and learning more about her, he doesn't care what trouble he'd get into.

Notes:

I am aware that some information about the story could be wrong, I was too lazy to look it up so I went by memory and probably made some stuff up in between. Either way, I hope you like this first chapter. I believe this will be a short story, but it could be longer.

I saw no stories about Neteyam, or any of the other family members, falling in love with a human reader. So I decided to make one.

Chapter 1: How It Began

Chapter Text

Pandora. A beautiful planet full of beautiful and unique plants, animals, land, and people. The people, of course, are of their own culture and language. They were at peace for many years until humans from Earth found Pandora and decided to learn about it. They invaded the people’s homes, taking in their own culture and forcefully putting it into the foreign land.

For a long time, the Na’vi of the forests and lands were left alone, and they left the humans alone. As long as the humans didn’t so much as lay a finger on the Na’vi, then they were free to live on Pandora.

That changes years later when the humans try to be one with the Na’vi. They meant no harm, and the Na’vi, though not entirely in trust, decided to humor them and be on somewhat good terms. After all, the humans had technology that the Na’vi had never seen before. They were at a disadvantage.

Then, as if it was a miracle, a human man named Jake Sully arrived at Pandora. He didn’t realize how important the Pandora people were until he was ordered to be like one of them and learn their ways. He could transfer his soul to an Avatar body explicitly made for his twin brother, who had passed before Jake arrived. He took his brother's role and fell in love with a Na’vi woman. He fought to protect their love and her people.

A war between machines and bows broke out, with Jake Sully on Na’vi’s side. Alongside Jake were a couple of other humans trying to protect the Na’vi people from evil. When the war ended, Na’vi people had won and forced the humans out of their world, besides their human allies, of course. Jake sacrificed his disabled body to be one with his Avatar body.

Now, with many more years passing by, Jake Sully has four children with the Na’vi woman he fell in love with. Not only that, but a human boy was raised with them since his parents passed away after he was born, and he wasn’t old enough to leave Pandora.

(Y/N) is just like the boy. She only knew him briefly. Unlike him, (Y/N) was raised with a fascination with science. And once she turned twelve, she found herself far from home, living alone in an abandoned lab shed. Deep in the Jungle, at the age of fifteen, (Y/N) lives her life venturing through the land and learning about the unique plants and animals. Not only that, but Jake Sully and his family have found her, reluctantly leaving her to stay where she’s at and visiting her once in a while.

“You want to stay?” She remembers looking up at the eight-foot-tall Avatar, Jake Sully. He was concerned for her well-being, on his knees to be closer to her height. (Y/N) nodded slowly, observing the plants in her hands. The man snuck up on her as she wrote notes for the plants. She wasn’t necessarily spooked but was surprised he found her so quickly. She guesses his older son has to be the cause of ratting her out since he found her first almost a week ago. Jake hummed in thought, his tail wagging side to side at a slow pace, “I’m worried about you. You’re so young…”

“I’ll be fine,” she told him. Her voice caused the Exo pack to exhale loudly, allowing her fresh air to breathe, “I’ve lived for this long by myself.”

The look he gave her told her he didn’t believe a word. As a father, she knew he would see her as his own kid, even though she didn’t know him well. “Plus, Neteyam comes by often.”

“I know,” he grunted, “He got in trouble for it once I found out.” (Y/N) narrowed her eyebrows, concerned for the boy. She had no idea that his seeing her would get him in trouble. Not that she asked him to see her, anyway. He just comes on his own. “But I’ll allow it. To keep an eye on you.” He ruffled her hair before he left and gently told her to stay safe.
