    Summary

490 BC, that was the year the First Persian War ended. According to historians, a man had run from Marathon to Sparta to ask for help for the Spartans to fight alongside the Athenians. What happened to this messenger? It is hard to believe historical sources written as a tale: Herodotus could have simply made it up or turned several messengers into one. Did Philippides really exist? Or maybe his name was Eron?
