    I was waiting outside the ladies’ room for ten minutes now. What was taking her so long?
    While I was waiting, I was thinking about Bella. I heard her asking Alice how to become one of us. It had sounded as if she really wanted to be a vampire. I didn’t know if it sounded like this because she loved Edward that much or because she thought it might be cool, whatever, it would make things easier for all of us. For example, we wouldn’t have to hide her from me because I wouldn’t have to fight the urge to kill her whenever I was even the tiniest bit of thirsty. And Edward would be happier, I was pretty sure of that.

     

    Jasper is waiting outside the restroom for Bella to return.
