My First Kiss Went A Little Like...

Summary:

"Um...We-We haven't had our first kiss as a couple yet..."

Suddenly the mood shifted from playful to something a tad more serious. There was an innocence dancing in the air, but it was different. It was sweet and curious.

"You are correct." Uraraka nodded. "Would...Would you like to change that?"

(Year of the OTP January Prompt: First Kiss! Iida and Uraraka have their first kiss after watching a scary movie.)

Notes:

Hiya! I know I'm cutting it close! But here is my first fic of the Year of the OTP Prompt Event of 2023 :) It's pretty short and simple. Nothing too fancy. I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The butterflies in her stomach would not stop fluttering. The blush on her face made her cheeks feel like they were on fire. She couldn't believe this was actually happening.

It made her feel a little better seeing his reaction. He was red from the stretch of his thick, strong neck up to the tips of his ears. He was adorable.

They were adorable.

Perhaps that's why they were voted The UA's Third Year Most Adorable Couple award. They would forever be planted there in the yearbook, right underneath the picture of a grimacing Bakugo and the beaming smile of Deku who tied for Most Likely To Be The Next Pro Hero Number One.

Everyone else in the class had filtered out, Aizawa-Sensei waving them off for a good weekend.

"We...We haven't even had our first kiss yet..." Iida cleared his throat and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"I-I know..." Uraraka giggled shakily. "I don't know how they found out we were, um, dating..."

"It's because you're both too obvious!" Mina's voice could be heard from the hallway.

"MINA!" Uraraka's blush deepened to dark crimson.

"No, no," Iida sighed, a smile finally emerging on those thin lips. "I could be more subtle...Although it is difficult to not reach under the desk to hold your hand..."

"You have come a long way from being a stickler of appropriate behavior," the aspiring heroine winked and brushed her hand against his. "Would you like to go to the mall this weekend? We could go see that new scary movie!"

Iida gave her a nervous smile. "I suppose I could be persuaded to see a horror film...Although I will admit, despite how courageous I try to be when fighting villains…Well, you know I can get a bit jumpy when it comes to theatrical scares."

Uraraka nodded before taking his hand in hers. She loved it. Now that the cat was out of the bag, she didn't mind showing off some public affection to her boyfriend. It wasn't that they were keeping a secret, they just hadn't felt the need to broadcast it to their class.

Oh well, thank you, Mina.

"It's okay," she squeezed his hand tighter even though her hand sometimes felt like it was half his size. "I'll hold onto you the whole time to keep you grounded!"

That got a sweet chuckle out of him, his nervous smile shifting to one of affection and trust. "Ironic considering you make things float off the ground."

Uraraka giggled at the notion and shrugged. "You notice the little things, don't you?"

Iida grinned and adjusted his hand in hers. "I try to."

Uraraka sighed happily and lunged into him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Oh! Oh my! What's this?" Iida stumbled backwards against the desk behind him.

Uraraka looked up, her chin resting on his chest. "I just wanted a hug, that's all." She turned her head to the side and nuzzled herself closer. "Is this okay?"

"Of-Of course!" Iida placed his hands around her and pulled himself closer. "Um, would you like to...go back to my room to watch the first movie in that horror series?"

Uraraka leaned back with the biggest smile on her face. "Yes!" Without letting a second go by, she yanked him by his hand and dashed off in the direction of the dorms.

"Hey guys!" They passed Deku along the way. "Congratulations on the votes!"

"Thanks, Deku!" Uraraka waved, poor Iida jogging beside her.

"Y-You know," Iida pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose again. "Um, if you wouldn't be too embarrassed...I could give you a piggyback ride and run over to the dorm with my quirk?"

Uraraka slowed down as the excitement danced in her eyes. "Oh that would be so much fun! Here!" She dashed around him and hopped onto his back. "Hehe, I'm ready when you are!"

"Ha, okay, um, hold tight..." Iida made sure he got a good grip on her before igniting his quirk.

Uraraka screamed at the sudden jolt, laughter tickling Iida's ear the faster and faster he went. She loved this feeling. Her hair was longer now, whipping behind her as they got closer and closer to the dorm.

Within a matter of moments, the couple was at the front of the dorm's doors, pushing them open as Uraraka combed her straggled hair with her fingers. "That was a lot of fun, Iida!" She giggled, spinning around in a circle. "We should do that again sometime."

"Yes," Iida nodded in agreement. "I must say that I agree." He gestured for them to make their way to his room.

Soon Uraraka was curled onto his bed, snagging the blanket Iida kept tucked away in his closet. "Okay, so," she grabbed Iida's laptop and pulled up her family's Netflix account. "It should beeeee...here!" She clicked in the movie cover of the film they were going to watch. "Come on," Uraraka patted the space on his bed next to her, pulling back the blanket to indicate that was his spot.

"O-Okay...I'll turn off the lights...Is that okay?" Iida walked to the light switch and put his hand on the clicker.

"Yep! It'll make it extra scary. Wooooo!" Uraraka laughed at Iida's reaction, blushing at the noises she made.

"Alright...Oh my goodness it really is dark, isn't it?"

"Hehe, just get over here and snuggle with me. I'll hold your hand."

Iida let out a shaky sigh but complied with her request/command. "So...how scary is this one supposed to be again?"

Uraraka draped the blanket over him and coiled her arm around his arm, tugging him into her and resting her head on his bicep. "We'll just have to wait and see."

Not long into the movie there were multiple jump-scares and heads spinning backwards in a way only a demonic being could.

Uraraka thought it was cute how Iida reacted to each new scene.

"No! Why-Why are they going in there?!" and "IT IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU! MY GOODNESS!" and "Nope, Uraraka, I'm hiding under the blanket. I don't care. Just tell me when the scene is over!"

It was hard for her to focus on the intensity of the movie with him shaking next to her the whole time. It was sweet and she loved every second of it.

Eventually the credits began to roll, ominous music playing in the background.

"That...That's it?!" Iida threw his free hand in the air, obviously flustered at the ending. "We don't know what happened to the last surviving woman?!"

"Hehe," Uraraka giggled as she uncoiled herself from his arm. "That's why there's the sequel, silly."

Iida huffed with a pouting face. "Yes...Well..." His glasses glinted in the low blue light radiating off the laptop screen. "I suppose that would make sense..."

Uraraka smiled. "You're very cute, did you know that?"

"Ha," Iida blushed and scratched the back of his neck. "So you tell me..."

"I say it because it's true!" Uraraka bounced onto her knees and placed a warm hand on Iida's cheek. "You're pretty handsome too."

"U-Uraraka…" Iida's blush worked its way up his face, his eyes shifting to his lap. "I-I don't--Um--I mean thank you...You..." Those glass framed eyes bounced back up to Uraraka's shining face. He let out another sigh, the air warm as it fanned against Uraraka's cheeks. "You're beautiful...Thank you for holding my hand..."

"And arm, hehe!" She couldn't help but giggle.

"Yes, yes, my arm as well." Iida chuckled back.

It was adorable how quickly Iida tucked his lower lip between his teeth. His brow furrowed for a moment before he released his lip and his expression softened. "I...I would..."

"I would too!" Uraraka said happily. "I've wanted to for a while now, but I just didn't know if you were ready!"

"Oh, yes, well," Iida's blush deepened. "I have been having the same thought for quite some time now too."

"Mmmhm," Uraraka winked. "Um, so you know I've never kissed anyone before...So I don't know how good I'll--MMph!"

He didn't waste a moment. Within the blink of an eye, Iida's lips were pressed against Uraraka's.

She gasped at first, but then let their lips stay like that. Just touching, brushing their noses against each other before she leaned in for another peck.

She peeped an eye open to find that Iida's eyes were closed.

The way his lashes were resting gently on his rosy cheeks. The way his eyes fluttered behind the lids. It was cute.

She let her eye close again. "Can I keep kissing you?"

"Ha," Iida's breath beat against her lips. It felt wonderful. "Yes, absolutely."

She felt two warm hands cup the sides of her jaw, bringing her closer up to him.

The next kiss was longer, deeper. Iida added teeth, tugging at her lower lip and daring to swipe his tongue into her mouth. "Is this okay?" He asked, breath beginning to labor.

"Oh my goodness, yes," Uraraka mimicked his actions, reaching out and tugging at the roots of his hair that rested at the base of his neck. He moaned sweetly, a tiny grunt of pleasure, and she did the same as he took another swoop of his tongue.

They just stayed like that for a while, the leader of the kiss swaying back and forth between the two like a dance.

When they finally pulled apart, Uraraka felt warm all over. Every inch of her felt like it was tingling with energy she had never tapped into before.

Iida got up from the bed to turn on the light.

Uraraka couldn't help the hiss that left her, the light too bright after being in the dark for so long.

The two of them stared at each other in awe. Uraraka was the first to break the silence. "Your lips...hehe!" She cupped her mouth with a hand. "And look what I did to your hair!" her voice was muffled.

"Yes, well..." Iida cleared his throat and patted his hair down, taking a quick look in the mirror and nodding once he felt he looked appropriate enough. "It looks like I may have had an effect on you as well."

Uraraka nodded. She didn't need to look in the mirror to know he was telling the truth. "I know," she smiled. "That was...a wonderful kiss, Iida."

"Oh yes it was!" He said proudly. "I think I'll kiss you more often."

"Oh you do, do you?" Uraraka arched a teasing eyebrow. "Well, I think I'll kiss youuuu more often."

"This isn't a competition," Iida crossed his arms. "Unless you want it to be?"

Uraraka smirked. "It's not a competition if I'm going to win no matter what."

"Oh, ho, ho," Iida cracked his neck and stretched his fingers. "You know what the consequences are for trying to provoke my competitive side, Uraraka."

Uraraka's eyes glistened with excitement, although she feigned otherwise. "No, no, no! You can't catch meeee!" She jumped off the bed and ran around his small room, knowing full well that he would capture her.

"Got you!" Iida snatched her up in his arms and pinned her to his bed. "You've unleashed the tickle monster, my dear!"

Uraraka shook her head. "No, no, please! Hehe!" She giggled before he even touched her.

Then she got an idea.

Right as he was leaning down to tickle her neck, she flung herself up and kissed him again.

A little shocked, he launched backward and touched his lips.

"Hehe, I told ya I'd win." She gave him another wink before he had her pinned again.

"We'll see about that!" Iida laughed as the tickle fight began.

It was a sweet way to begin the weekend.

Uraraka loved every moment of that evening with her Iida.

She looked forward to the many silly, sweet, and spicy dates to come.
