Work Text:
This week was already a burden on your mental state with its rollercoaster of highs and lows, but today drove the final unfortunate nail deep into your coffin of misery. The gods felt like picking on you almost all of today and by the time you were at the doorstep of your apartment, there was only a shell of a human being remaining. Wearily, you cracked open the front door to take shelter in your home, hoping to find solace within these walls. A voice, its tone opposite of your current disposition, welcomed you home with enthusiasm.
"Welcome back! How was work?"
The source of the voice was not revealed until your lover Shu popped his head from the kitchen, hands holding onto a wooden spoon that was dyed red with pasta sauce. You could only weakly groan and drag your feet towards him. Instead of the dinner table, you made your way to the living room sofa. You felt Shu's worried eyes on your back as you collapsed onto the soft cushions of the loveseat.
"That bad huh?"
Face down, you let out a muffled noise of confirmation. You heard the click of the stovetop and shift of his apron, followed by footsteps that grew louder as they approached you. You turned your face just enough to peek in front of yourself. Shu stood in front of you no longer donning the apron and knelt down to get at eye level. He let out a laugh of sympathy at your position, pet your head and gave a gentle smile.
"You did great today," he reassured you, "mind if I join you here?"
You were reluctant but agreed, sitting up just enough to make space for him beside you. The sorcerer placed himself next to you, pulling your drowsy self into his lap. The both of you sat together, your back against his chest. The warmth from his intensive cooking session kept him warm and he became your heated blanket.
Shu wrapped his arms around your waist and placed his head upon your shoulder. He was never one to show so much physical affection, as the idea of such PDA was overwhelming for him if regularly done. However he could tell the difference between your usual crankiness and hardship that went further than daily inconveniences. These rare moments are treasures to you, irreplaceable to anyone who knew the value of his displays of affection.
You twisted yourself a smidgen to wrap your own arms around him, humming a weary and needy moan. You wanted to savor whatever Shu was willing to spoil you with, and savor you did. You mumbled quietly about the hardships of this week, and he responded in short sympathies. He was never the type to fix someone's problems, and you appreciated him for that. What was more important to you was being heard and listened to when you needed it most, and he knew and took care to respect your needs. While you lamented, one of his hands began to rub your back. You went quiet and in clingy fashion snuggled closer into him, face comforted by his chest.
"Oh, did I make you uncomfortable?"
You shook your head, still positioned where he felt your motions against himself. He took the signal to continue to rub your back, comforting you in your most vulnerable state, and thanked you for working so hard.
A soft kiss was placed atop your head. You looked up, hand tugging at his shirt. He looked down at you curiously before taking the hint.
He chuckled, "Of course, of course. C'mere," and placed another kiss on your lips instead.
"Feeling a little better?"
You nodded but continued to tug.
"It's okay. I'm not going anywhere, don't worry," he placed his other hand against the nape of your neck before guiding you into another kiss. Shu would only ever shower you with kisses in emergencies; they were like chocolates for your soul. His lips were soft with each contact against your own; his hands were slightly calloused as they traveled from your nape to your cheek with a tenderness one could only have for his lover. Your heart began to fill up as you regained energy from his intimacy. Soon you warmed up from his love, yourself now calmed down from the earlier strains of exasperation.
"There we go," his voice was barely a whisper as he smiled at you, cheeks flushed from embarrassment and so much kissing. One hand still rubbed your back, the other caressing your face.
The two of you were in your own world.
"Now," he cleared his throat, "did you want dinner?"
You pouted and shook your head.
"Uh… A bath?"
You shook again.
"E-erm… then…" His eyes shifted constantly from your face to the ground, "would you like…me?"
You went in for another kiss.
