Work Text:
When May asked Tony to be Peter’s secondary contact for school he didn’t think much off it. After all the kid was pretty much a star pupil most of the time. On top of that due to the spider bite the only time the kid was ill was when his senses started to go Hay-wire.
Which is why Tony was surprised when he got a call in the middle of a meeting on an average Wednesday morning. Pepper gave him a glare when the ringtone went off, he had half the mind to ignore it until he noticed the name.
He got up much to the annoyance to everyone else in the room while mouthing ‘the kid’ to Pepper. Pepper just nodded while taking back charge of the meeting once again. Tony had no clue why he had to be in them considering Pepper always did most of the talking.
Tony answered the phone assuming it would be the nurses office calling about Peter having a migraine or something. He did not think he would hear the words ‘been in a fight’. Peter always actively avoided fights as a civilian either due to being scared he could gravely injure someone or be outed as being enhanced.
“I’m sorry” Tony could have sworn he heard the receptionist wrong, “Did you just say Peter Parker had been in a fight?”
“That’s right sir” The lady clarified, “We need you to come down to the school as soon as possible”
He sighed, “I’ll be there in thirty”
Tony made his way straight there while sending Pepper a quick text summary of the phone call, she hadn’t seen it but it wasn’t surprising considering how manic that meeting was.
It wasn’t often Tony actually drove himself somewhere despite having over forty plus cars. He did enjoy driving a lot of the time it just never happened a lot for numerous reasons. If Tony wasn’t going to pick up a dumb kid that got in a fight at school of all places he would be enjoying it a lot more.
Tony got to the school at pretty much bang on mid-day, the school was pretty much dead as most kids where still in class. There was the odd few that were sitting in the reception area looking either down in the dumps or bored out their mind or a mixture of both.
They didn’t spare a glance to Tony as he walked over to the receptionist to tell them he was there. The girl manning reception couldn’t be much older than her mid twenties, she looked shocked for a split second when she saw who was in front of her. Honestly Tony couldn’t blame her it was weird for himself to be in a high school never mind be seen in one.
“I’m here due to Peter Parker getting in some sort of disagreement” He decided to speak first which seemed to snap her out of her head. She nods in realization before pushing the small window separating the close and coming around to show him the way.
She led him down the hallway towards the corner of the school where all the offices were located. Tony had actually been in the office before due to Peters internship, he wanted to make sure Peter was getting the proper credit for it.
As they turned the final corner where the office was he finally saw the kid.
Peter was sitting on the end of a row of chairs where two other boys sat with one chair in-between either of them. Tony recognized one of them from Peters decathlon team but the one on the very end he couldn’t place. He didn’t recognise him at all.
Peter was leaning on the arm of the chair with a packet of ice to his eye as did the other two boys.
It didn’t look like Peter was in all that much physical pain. Mental was still up for debate, Tony knew all Peters expressions to a T he could tell the kid was pissed.
As Tony got closer to the door he could see a pair of adults not looking very Happy in the office.
“You look pretty banged up” Tony stopped in front of the kid looking down at him with a raised eyebrow.
Peter looked up at him with wide eyed with shock which quickly turned to dread. The boy that was a chair over that he know realized was the one called flash didn’t seem to surprised by Tony’s appearance. Which couldn’t be said for the one on the very end with a face on him that Tony could only describe as having shat his pants.
“Why are you here?” Peter angrily whispered.
“Because someone made the smart decision to get in a fight” He replied completely unfazed by the kids attitude. It was the same type of voice he used when Tony catches him doing something dumb as spider-man.
Peter shrunk back into his seat at that but before he could reply the door to the office opened. Tony turned to look, Peters Principal stood there looking rather done with this whole situation.
“Mr Stark if you and Peter could join me in the office” He asked as the other parents came out they split off and sat down next to their kids.
“Please take a seat” He gestured to the set of chairs in front of the desk, “I’ll get straight to the point”
Tony nodded for him to continue as they all sat down.
“I have spoken to all the boys separately and it seems like Jayce started the fight by attacking Flash for an unknown reason”
“Because he is an ass” Tony heard Peter grumble under his breath it took everything in Tony not to smirk at the comment. Luckily for Peter Principal Morita either didn’t hear it or chose not to acknowledge it.
“Jayce will be suspended for two weeks as we have a zero violence policy” He informed, “But as we are in forcing this policy with Jayce we will also have to enforce it with Peter due to the retaliation”
Tony saw Peter sink in his chair, most likely going through all the worse scenarios in his head. Which most likely consist of failing school, his grades dropping and his aunt shouting at him. Tony couldn’t blame him for the last one.
“If Peter was defending another student surely he should be the exception” Tony questioned though he doubt it would actually go anywhere but it was worth a try.
“I’m sorry Mr Stark but Peter should have gotten an adult so there is no exception” The tone in his voice indicated that this conversation was in fact over, “Peter you are allowed to gather the stuff from your locker we will see you Monday”
With that Peter and Tony found themselves walking back to Tony’s car. They got in in complete silence, which was instantly broken as soon as the doors closed.
“Finally my face was going numb” Peter pulled the ice pack away to reveal an almost healed bruise.
“Ah see that’s why you shouldn’t get in fights at school of all places” Tony gave him a stern stare which Peter gave him an awkward ‘please don’t kill me’ face.
“Jayce would have most likely beaten Flash half to death before the teachers even got there” Peter explained, “It’s not the first time something like that has happened with him but the school doesn't want to give him a more severe punishment because his dad gives them money” Peter raised his voice highly by the end making himself wince.
“Ok kid ok” Tony sighed, “I could donate more and get rid of him?”
“What?” Peter turned to look at him in shock, “No its fine he is a senior he will be gone by the end of the year”
“He’s a senior!” Tony turned to look at him quickly making sure Peter wasn’t lying or joking, “Why the hell is he kicking the shit out of a fifteen year old?”
“Actually Flash is sixteen” Peter offered which Tony gave him a side glare while keeping his eyes on the road.
“Kid” Tony warned.
“Right sorry” Peter apologised as he started squishing his melted ice pack.
“Why did you stand up for Flash though” Tony has been puzzled since he first heard what happened, “Isn’t he the one who calls you the names”
“Flash is a pain but he isn’t violent besides he calls everyone names so often they don’t mean much” Peter shrugged, “Besides despite calling me ‘penis parker’ he is usually alright to me”
“You’re to nice” Tony sighed, Peter was far better than him. Tony would have most likely just stood on the sidelines filming the fight at that age.
The car was silent for a little while, Peter was tired and Tony was to busy tapping to the beat to the music on the radio.
“Am I grounded?” Peter asked leaning back in his seat.
“Not with me but its up to your aunt with her” He confirmed.
“May will probably let me off the hook once I explain it” Peter told him, “Besides May once got a suspension”
“Seriously?” Tony turned to him in shock.
