Chapter Text

It was the welcome party for the freshmen of their University. Nayeon, as the student council president, was one of the organizers. She was assigned to the reception, checking if every attendee was bringing a ticket.

It was another event that she won't enjoy. She liked the planning part, the thrill of making everything work, the constant phone calls to suppliers, the neverending meetings, and the idea of having everything in control.

She likes to plan, she loves the idea that she has power over everything that's happening, and she loves knowing that things are going as planned.

But the actual party? Boring. She doesn't like being around a lot of people and the party-goers' spontaneous actions.

But then she saw a girl being dragged by another girl to the venue. She saw the constellation-like moles in her face, the gummy smile she made when her friend said she'll buy her a Lego set if she joined them, the dark orbs that looked straight into her own, and the veins in the girl's hand when she handed her the ticket.

Fuck.

She watched her the entire night. Creepy, she knows. But she did.

She noticed how she only drank juice, how she rubbed her friend's back when she coughed, how she smiled while listening to her friend's stories, and how she turned her friend as they danced on the dance floor.

Friend. Yup, they better be just friends.

"Sana!" She heard Jihyo, the Vice President, scream.

She made her way to the two girls she's been eyeing and saw how the 'friend' smiled brightly at Jihyo before hugging her. Good.

So Sana is the friend's name. What's hers, then?

She didn't find out the entire night.

But at least she knows Sana's name. She can start from there.

It's weird for her too. She's never been that interested in someone before. But the girl from the party was just too cute and pretty.

So she searched for Sana's social media accounts. It wasn't that hard, to be honest. Sana's friends with half of the school's population.

She can't see anything on her Facebook besides her profile photos, and there's no photo of the girl on her Instagram. So she spent the entire day scrolling over Sana's Twitter account. She went over her past tweets until she saw a photo she had posted.

It was a photo of the girl at the party and another girl with bangs.

"Movie night with Momo and Mina," Sana wrote, adding a smiling face with hearts emoji.

The other girl in the photo replied, and that's when she found out the girl in the party's name.

Mina.

Mina's Instagram was private, and she didn't know how to get in. Mina doesn't know her, so of course, she won't accept her follow request.

"She made a fake Chaeyoung dump account and sent me a follow request," Lisa said, unable to contain her laughter, "Of course, I accepted it since it's Chaeng. Then when I met Chaeng, I asked her why she made a dump account. She was confused because she didn't make one. When I looked over my followers, I couldn't find the account anymore. Turns out she already changed it to a different name when I accepted it, and I didn't notice."

"Because you won't accept it if it had my name," Jennie pouted.

Nayeon acted disgusted by Jennie's action, like she couldn't believe she went through that just to get Lisa. But she's actually not. She's even impressed.

Too impressed that she even did the same when she got home. She made a fake dump account for Sana and followed Mina on IG. It took Mina 3 days before she accepted her request. But at least she did.

Luckily for her, Mina also turned her Twitter account public that day, and she saw Sana tweet about it. She followed her using a dump account and spent the night reading her tweets and looking at her IG posts.

She learned that she likes gaming, legos and puzzles. Mina also likes Skittles and penguins. She likes the café at the back of the University and the library at the School of Medicine.

She didn't even need the IG because everything is on her Twitter already. Mina even tweeted her plans the next day, right after Nayeon followed her.

So the next day, Nayeon wore a hoodie with a small penguin design and went to the café at the back of the University to get some coffee.

Mina was already on her way out when they bumped into each other.

"Sorry," Mina said, her voice soft.

"It's okay," Nayeon said, flashing her infamous bunny smile.

"Nice shirt," Mina said, "I have the same one."

"Oh, thank you! Found it cute so," Nayeon shrugged.

Mina only smiled and nodded before bidding her goodbye and heading towards the University.

That wasn't their last encounter. They started seeing each other in the library almost every day. In the first week, they were just exchanging smiles. The following week they were already asking if they could sit at the same table. In the third week, Nayeon was already giving Mina Skittles that she said she loves eating while studying.

Liar. She likes M&M's more. But Mina doesn't have to know that.

After a few weeks of seeing each other in the library, Nayeon decided she won't go for a day. Then she'll come again the next two days, then disappear for a day again. After 2 weeks of doing that, Mina finally asked her why she wasn't there every day anymore. She didn't really have a reason. She can't just tell her she's doing that so Mina will think of her. That's stupid. So she just said she's busy with council work and can't be there every day.

They exchanged numbers that day, too, so Mina could ask her if she'll save a seat for her. Instead of seats at the library, though, they started saving seats at the café at the back of the University. Sometimes to study, sometimes to just hang out.

Nayeon also started posting gaming stories on her IG. She asked Jihyo to teach her how to play LoL and Minecraft (she sucks at both) just so she could post something.

And Mina, without fail, replied to every single story she made. She even invited Nayeon to her apartment so they could play together.

She didn't mind that Nayeon sucks at games; she just liked the idea of having someone to play with. Nayeon knew that.

Nayeon also knew that she was not a puzzle or Lego type of person. But she still ordered a 1500 pcs jigsaw puzzle and a box of Lego bouquet.

She told Mina her mom gifted them to her, and she needed help solving them. And like the biggest nerd that she is, Mina rushed to Nayeon's apartment to do the puzzle and Lego.

And on that day, Nayeon knew she wanted Mina more than anything. She knew she wanted her to lay comfortably on her bed with her penguin pyjamas and shark neck pillow, to caress her thigh as they sat across each other on her couch, and to see her stupid Legos on the glass cabinets in her living room.

And just like she like planned, here they are in her apartment, sitting on her couch with their matching penguin pyjamas.

"So, yeah," Nayeon said with a shy smile on her face and her head down, "I did all of that."

"I knew when I first saw you nothing was gonna stop me. So I planned, stalked you for days, laid a groundwork, watched everything fall into place like dominoes cascading in a line," Nayeon sighed, "It wasn't fate like what we tell our friends. I was just... I was just a mastermind."

She didn't want to confess all that. That's too embarrassing. Her pride stands taller than her, and not once did she imagine herself plotting a whole-ass plan just to get a girl. She's Im Nayeon. She doesn't do the begging or the chasing. But here she is, putting all her defences down and letting Mina see how much of a Machiavellian she is, knowing damn well she might get creeped out and leave her behind.

But this is the girl she wants to marry, the girl who went down on one knee to ask her to spend the rest of her life with her. This is the girl who's always honest with her, even when she's afraid she's gonna lose Nayeon.

This is Mina. She built their relationship with honesty. She strived hard to always show her truth to dispel doubt in Nayeon's system.

So when Nayeon saw Mina making pins on her Pinterest account for their wedding, she felt the need to confess. She can't trap her in a relationship that started from her manipulation.

She was ready to hear Mina sigh, to leave and get some fresh air like what she usually does when Nayeon does something that upsets her. She didn't expect her to yell; Mina doesn't do that. She tells her she's mad, but she's still in love with her, and she just needs some time alone.

Mina never yells. Mina doesn't curse at her or say bad things because she knows how it affects Nayeon. She doesn't give her the silent treatment. She assures her even when she's mad. That's Mina, the love of her life.

God, she's everything I've ever wanted, Nayeon thought.

Instead of a sigh and footsteps, Nayeon heard a chuckle, and it made her raise her head. Mina's eyes turned crescent because of her laughter, her gums showing in the way Nayeon loves the most.

"Why are you laughing?" Nayeon asked, confused as to the way her girlfriend was acting.

Instead of an answer, Mina messed with her hair and kissed her forehead. Nayeon's eyebrow just furrowed even more with that action. She expected a sigh and a disappointed look, not a cute, gummy smile.

"What do you want for dinner, Ms Mastermind?" Mina asked as she emphasized the word "mastermind".

She didn't wait for Nayeon's answer, though. She just gave the girl another kiss before making her way to the kitchen.

That's when it hits Nayeon.

She knows.

Mina knows.

She knows that she planned everything, that none of it was accidental, that all those encounters were premeditated, that all those candies have ulterior motives, that all those stories were posted to get her attention, and that the fake dump account of Sana was actually Nayeon's.

She knew. She knew, and she just let herself fall into the trap. No, scratch that. She knew, but she didn't stop her. She made her believe she had fallen into her trap.

She knew, and she didn't mind.

"She knew that I'm a mastermind, and now she's mine," Nayeon thought, a wide smile on her lips.

"You knew," Nayeon said as she enveloped Mina in a hug.

"Baby, I turned my Twitter into a public account."
