Work Text:
her lying inside his room
Tom pulled the car up the driveway and looked at his watch - five fifteen, which meant Pansy should be home by now. He took his briefcase from the back seat, turned off the engine, and picked up a large bouquet of red roses from the front seat.
He got out of the car and looked at the house, which filled him with incredible pride. Bought for hard-earned money so they could have their place on earth - their piece of paradise. They spent the last year renovating it and making it the perfect place for their little family.
Tom ran up the stairs and opened the door, stepping into the hall. He put down his briefcase, hung up his jacket, and went into the kitchen. This one - to his surprise - was empty and the lights were off. Only the faint smell of coffee indicated that Pansy had been here recently.
He smiled under his breath, because that could mean a lot - or on the contrary - only one thing. He took a vase from the cupboard, filled it with cold water, and put the roses in it.
In the darkness, he climbed the stairs and, walking on the soft carpet, reached the first door. He placed his hand on the round knob and turned it, expecting to see Pansy.
But the room was empty to his surprise. Pansy wasn't in the office. He closed the door and took a few steps that were muffled by the carpet towards the bedroom.
The bedroom door was slightly ajar, so he quietly opened it and saw something that constantly touched him.
Her lying inside his room, their room, was a sight that made him feel love and lust. Alternately, but at the same time.
He went inside and sat on the edge of the bed - Pansy was lying on the sheets wearing a white robe and sleeping.
She had been working very hard for the past few days, waking up after five in the morning just to be home before him. But as he could see today, tiredness won and after the shower, she fell asleep while waiting for him.
Tom smiled and ran his thumb over her cheek. Her smooth skin was pleasantly cool. He leaned in and kissed the hollow of her neck, and Pansy stirred, and he knew she had woken up.
"Tom." Her sleepy voice, softly pronouncing his name, struck a chord in his soul he would never have suspected. "Hi." She smiled and he kissed her in return.
"I'll prepare something to eat, come downstairs when you're ready."
Pansy murmured something, and Tom raised himself one elbow and stroked her hair.
Pansy came downstairs and was surprised by the soft music that oozed from the speakers. The kitchen was dark, so she turned into the living room, where a dozen candles were burning on the table. In their shadow, leaning against the fireplace, was Tom.
He was staring at her, but she couldn't read anything from his dark face. She walked over to him, and he grabbed her hands and tilted her, planting a kiss in the hollow of her neck.
She sighed softly and closed her eyes as Tom began to whisper words that coalesced in her mind into one big confession of love. When he finished, she opened her eyes and her eyes met Tom's.
His eyes shone as he led her to the sofa and told her to sit down.
She sat down hesitantly - uneasily - but all her fears vanished as she saw the huge bouquet in front of her face. After a while, Tom knelt down and with a smiling face, he asked her a question she knew the answer to.
It was one of the few moments in her life where she didn't hesitate a moment.
