Summary: It was a dark and dreary night, and then the Butler arrived, also known as caretaker Filch, and tracked in the unmentionables. (Three-headed dogs should’ve never been allowed at Hogwarts.) There was dinner guest to be had and served. (Not in a cannibalistic, Hannibalistic way mind you.) A Mr. A. BODY was found somewhere, murder by someone with flames on the side of their face, from breathing, breathless, having last breath or something, and now we have a Who-Dunnit, Golden-Trio murder mystery to be had.
None of this may be in fic, or maybe it will be, but had to have a summary of sorts I suppose. Book canon, what’s canon? Or fanon anymore.

Reasons why being in love with Draco Malfoy is wholly unacceptable:
1. He is insufferable
2. He is married
3. He is her academic rival
4. Now, unhappily, he is also her colleague, and they are meant to be collaborating
5. Professional boundaries ought to be observed with colleagues
5b. Especially when her application for tenure is fully dependent on forging a successful academic collaboration with said colleague
6. It is not compatible with her five-year plan (see items 1-5 for specifics)Hermione has a deeply compelling list of reasons not to be in love with Draco Malfoy. To her dismay, when her department chair at St. Mungo's Medical School forces her into close proximity with Malfoy for the sake of undertaking an alchemy collaboration, she begins to develop romantic feelings she never meant to have.

He’d only been tugging his jumper off, the pub walls almost sweating from the number of bodies inside, when she’d caught a glimpse of gold from the corner of her eye. Her attention snagged and she looked. She’d only seen it for half a second before he had tugged his t-shirt back down, the knit of his navy jumper having brought the white cotton along for the ride. It was gone just as quickly as she’d seen it but that tiny flicker of something kept her eyes searching around.
She was sure of what she’d seen — what else could it have been? — but the person upon which she’d seen that flash of metal didn’t compute.
There was no way that Draco Malfoy had a piercing. And not there.

Summary
Strange things, dreams. How much credence should we give to where our subconscious takes us?
There were many things Draco did not need in his Sixth Year. He did not need Theodore Nott implanting strange dreams in his head, for one.
In the ensuing years, he did not need to constantly remember that blissful, impossible dream. He further did not need Potter bursting into his mostly turned-around life to embroil him in a conspiracy at Azkaban. And he definitely did not need to embark on a clandestine investigation into prisoner mistreatment with Hermione Granger.
