Out of breath, You were out of breath. Your heart was beating so loud and so fast that it threatened to burst out of your chest. You were shivering as if you had been left out in the freezing winter even though winter had long since passed. Eventually you heard a muffled voice, a familiar muffled voice. You were unable to see anything around you as your vision was blurred from the amount of tears you were shedding. Soon enough, you were able to realise who that familiar voice belonged to. It was Vyn's.
"Rosa? Rosa, look at me. You're safe here. Can you hear me?"
You could hear the worry in his voice. Slowly, you were able to calm down just enough to hear what he was trying to say. You also noticed that the rest of the team were close by as well, worried but dared not to go near as it might overwhelm you. A nod was the only response Vyn needed before his eyes softened followed with a sigh of relief.
"Perfect, now I want you to follow me, we need to regulate your breathing. Would that be okay?" Another nod was given. "Alright, slow and steady now." As the two of you took slow and deep breaths, he had one hand slowly caressing yours in a comforting manner, while the other wiped away the tears that remained on your cheeks and the corner of your eyes. "You're doing amazing, Rosa. You'll be okay, we're all here for you." You felt your grip loosened, you did not realise you were holding onto Vyn's arm so tightly. Vyn looked away and gave a nod, signalling the others that they could come closer as you had calmed down.
Luke was the one that came first, his large warm hand resting on your right cheek as you stared into his eyes that were filled with worry. He did not say anything but he continued to stare back at you. Marius was the one that broke the silence. "What exactly happened? Did someone hurt you, jiejie?" You shook your head, causing Marius' expression to change from confusion back to worry again. "Then what is it that got you so panicked? Is it something we can help with?" Artem took the opportunity to ask. You lowered your head. Silence filled the meeting room once again.
You held onto your chest tight as Vyn came closer to you, "Please speak to us, we cannot bear to see you suffer. Let us help you, is there anything we can do for you?" Tears started to form in the corner of your eyes once again. How could you tell them without them worrying even more? You took a deep breath, before you responded with a shaky voice.
"I'm losing my memories."
You shut your eyes tight, causing the tears to roll down your cheeks once again, afraid of the reactions that you got from saying that one sentence. You were scared to hear their responses so you continued talking.
"It's as if I'm in a loop, where everything keeps repeating, I know it. But I just can't seem to remember what happens next to prevent certain things from happening." You held your head, grabbing a fist full of your own hair as you continued. "I know that everyone here will experience danger that will result in your lives being at risk, I know I can prevent it, but I can't remember the steps towards it." You paused, your voice shook as you said your last sentence. "I can't do anything to guarantee everyone's safety."
Before you realised it, everyone had gathered around you to comfort you. "Rosa, you shouldn't push yourself this much. We understand you meant well but if you hurt yourself during that, we will be worried." Vyn was right, pushing yourself over your limit would make things worse. Artem spoke up after Vyn. "Though, what do you mean by 'being in a loop'?" "Yeah, I'm a bit confused about that as well. Rosa?" Luke followed after, being just as confused as Artem was. Before you could say anything, the tablet that was on the table lit up out of nowhere, causing everyone's attention to be on it. DAVIS appeared before everyone, opening his eyes to look directly into yours, wearing his signature little smile on his face.
"Apologies for the intrusion but, did you perhaps tamper with something you shouldn't?" You were shot with a wave of confusion, what did he mean by that? "...What? What do you mean by that, DAVIS?" DAVIS' expression did not change as he continued to stare into your eyes, you could feel a hint of anxiety.
"Miss Rosa, you know exactly what I mean, do you not?"
"DAVIS, what are you talking about?" The annoyance in Marius' voice was evident enough as he moved closer towards DAVIS. "Do you know something we don't?" "Marius." Luke's presence was pulled away to hold onto Marius' arm in an attempt to calm him from his agitation. Vyn went to hold you instead, sensing that you were tense. Artem moved from his position to be in front of you, he knew something was not right.
The room was filled with silence once again, everyone's attention was now at the holographic artificial intelligence before them, standing in his perfectly straight posture, his smile continued to be displayed on his face. DAVIS broke the silence and spoke again, but this time, his words gave you fear, a fear that caused your heart to drop. It made you wonder how much he knew, if he was simply observing you through all of your attempts, the times where you would ask him for advice, not telling him exactly of what your situation was. You wonder how much he knew, and if it would turn out to be something good, or something horrible. A fear that caused your grip on Vyn to tighten just a bit.
"Some things are not meant to be tampered with."
