Kaneki is a sentimental dork, though if he's asked if he had been planning on spending the evening with Hide for months, he'd deny it with all his being. But it's been ten years from the day he met Hide. Ten years is a long time, and he truly appreaciates Hide for being there. He wants to show it.
Hide gets him. Tsukiyama, on the other hand, needs convincing. And even if Kaneki isn't very eloquent with words, his actions speak for themselves.Series
