Thou Shalt Do No Harm

Summary:

Y/N groaned when her alarm went off, reaching for her phone in her pocket.

Something grainy touched her hand, making her suck in a gasp as she opened her eyes. She was lying down, staring up at the bright blue sky above her. All but jumping to her feet she looked around like a madwoman, her eyes wide as she saw nothing but sand all around her.

“W-what the fuck?!” She pulled out her still-ringing phone, staring in disbelief at the date it showed. “3134… holy shit…” She ran a troubled hand through her hair, leaning her head back with a sigh. God, it was hot. She squinted, staring up at the sky. ‘Wait a minute…’

Something was off.

Were there… two suns?

This is a story about a doctor in residency that gets magically isekai’d into Trigun.

I hope you enjoy :}

Notes:

Hello dear readers! I have noticed that there is an extreme lack of Nicholas D. Wolfwood fan-fictions, so I decided to take up my pen and get to writing. It will take a while for the story to pick up, as I am still in high school, but I have high hopes!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

“Hey! Resident L/N! Have a nice lunch!” A fellow doctor called out as Y/N gathered her bags.

She smiled at the brown-haired man. He had been there with her from the start of her residency. His name was John, if she remembered correctly. “Thank you. I’ll be back soon.” She turned away from him with a wave, navigating the labyrinth of a hospital with ease.

When she was outside she cast a glance back at the large building behind her. It was a beacon of the might of medicine, something she had always been fascinated with, even as a young girl. Looking back, she could always remember asking for toy doctor sets for Christmas and her birthdays. So much so that her parents tried to bargain with her for something else. Y/N smiled at the fond memory, that same smile fading when she saw her old, beat up Honda Civic.

Her shoulders slumped at the thought of sitting, her tired feet aching as she unlocked her car. ‘God, I’m exhausted.’ Her car was cold when she got inside, setting her bags in the passenger seat before she let out a long sigh and melted into the driver’s seat. ‘I’ll just take a quick nap. I’ll set my alarm so I wake up before my shift.’

Y/N sighed, settling into her chair as she checked her emails and text messages, smiling at the few funny animal pictures she had been sent from coworkers. She frowned when she opened up the text string from her supervisor, grimacing at the long list of tasks she still had to finish before she could leave for home. ‘I have so much work to do…’

Groaning, she reached her hands above her head, contorting her body to stretch the aching muscle in her back. With a long, deflating sigh she sank into her vinyl chair, her eyes fluttering shut as she curled in on herself. ‘God, I’m tired…’ Her consciousness slipped away, dragging her into the comfort of sleep.

Y/N blinked, lowering her hand as she stared indirectly at the two suns. ‘Where the fuck am I?’ She let out a long sigh as she looked around, seeing her canvas duffle bag a few feet to her left. “Well, at least I have my stuff…” Crouching down, she snagged her bag and looked through it. ‘Portable charger… change of clothes… extra shoes… my gallon bottle… aaand my lunch I didn’t eat.’

She slung the bag over her shoulder, glancing down at her clothes. ‘Still in my scrubs… same shoes…’ Her eyes wandered the sandy dunes around her warily. ‘This is just some weird overworked-driven dream, right?’ The pit in her gut seemed to differ with her rational thinking, creating a sinking feeling in her stomach.

Rubbing her forehead she sighed, forcing herself to walk aimlessly through the sandy landscape. ‘If I walk long enough then maybe my phone will wake me up…’ Again, there was a sinking feeling in her stomach. Her brain was feeding the rest of her body facts she didn’t want to believe just yet. ‘I pray that I’ll wake up soon… I don’t want to be late for my shift…’
