Work Text:
Ivy made her way to the pedestal, dressed in budding sunlight that crept across the horizon of the Somniel.
Her eyes caught the glint of her fascinator resting on the table the pact ring used to be stored in. Her heart tightened.
Alear was ethereal. Curled up on her side, hair fanning out around her, edges draped over the corners of the mattress. Her soft snore sent a wave of warmth through Ivy.
I love her.
Ivy wanted to shower her in affection, prove that no one loves the Divine Dragon more.
Ivy’s fingers found porcelain skin, mapping the feel of Alear’s face with her eyes and fingertips.
“You, my love, deserve everything.” Ivy dipped to the ground, knees knocking against the marble.
“I wish you were mine and only mine. It’s selfish, I know… but I wish to be the only one who loves you so completely.”
Ivy rested her head against Alear’s hand as if to pray. To her shock, the hand snaked around to cup Ivy’s cheek, bringing her eyes to Alear’s.
“Oh Ivy… they don’t love me like you do. My image is theirs but I belong to you.” Alear’s figure leaned across the mattress, her lips reaching Ivy’s in a gentle kiss.
“Good morning… my love.” Ivy’s heart skipped a beat as Alear spoke against her lips. Ivy stopped herself from following as Alear pulled away. Alear’s smile was soft and bright.
“Shall we start the day together?” Ivy whispered, finally finding her voice. Alear’s smile pulled wider.
“With you? Always.”
