Work Text:
Midoriya looked at the clock, it was 4:00 am and he couldn't sleep, every time he closed his eyes, he felt like drowning on the mattress, every time he put his head on the pillow, a cold sensation ran through his body, and installed on the back of his neck. Every single sundown, a tight knot formed on his throat.
Listen, it was not his fault, but he always felt like it was.
Knowing that he wasn't going to sleep, he got up, stretching and sighing in the process, starting his routine in the best mood he could find.
First, he took off his earplugs putting them on their respective box, then he went to the bathroom to wash his face. He was a mess, in every sense of the word, his eyebags were more darker and his skin was more pale, it was truly a non pleasant sight.
The day went off as normal as it could, with Midoriya almost falling asleep in Midnight's class, but overall, it was fine. The problem usually started at sundown so he could do some activities before feeling the knot again.
This situation, however, wasn't new to Midoriya, he'd been living like this for probably 2 years now, so it was kind of a routine, but recently things just seemed to be off.
Eating was starting to be a problem, every bite felt like dirt on his mouth and swallowing felt like using all of his energy. And on top of that, his classmates started to notice that he was getting thinner with every passing day.
This whole sleeping situation was getting out of control, it felt like a never-ending void. And Midoriya didn't seem to notice.
But, Bakugou did notice.
Of course he would, he has lived his whole life with Midoriya by his side, if anyone knew how many freckles he had, or the type of thing he liked, that was Bakugou.
The problem was, that Bakugou and Midoriya stopped talking since the first half of their first year at UA.
Well, in reality they haven't talked properly in more than two years, except for some fights, but it was more of a class thing rather than a conversation.
So, how could he help Midoriya? They didn't really talk to each other, and while that was fine for the both, Bakugou could feel all the sadness that Midoriya was trying to hide.
And that was painful to witness, it was painful to see how Midoriya's shaky hands tried to hold his mug of tea every morning, it was painful to see he couldn't really use his quirk in a proper way without breaking his fingers, and he stopped doing that a long time ago, getting back to it wasn't pleasant to see.
The next morning, things were exactly the same, and the morning after, and the morning after and the morning after..
It was a loop, and Bakugou was tired of it.
Midoriya was thin, maybe thinner than in Junior High, nothing compared to the Midoriya of first year.
His legs were shaky, and every time he got up from his seat he got dizzy, Bakugou wasn't a fool, even if Midoriya tried to downplay it, he knew it.
So, when Midoriya excused himself to his room without having dinner, Bakugou decided to end that godforsaken loop.
Because how dared Midoriya to not eat that stupid Katsudon he always loved?
Midoriya on the other side, hid himself on his room, he felt to suffocated because it was almost time to try and sleep, every second felt heavier, he felt paranoid. He couldn't even breathe normally, the single concept of sleeping was horrible to him.
But he simply couldn't, it was tiring, it was scary, he felt like dying.
Bakugou opened the door, finding Midoriya in the floor, rocking himself violently and biting the collar of his shirt. He was out of it, crying desperately as his hands scratched his legs.
He was ready to scream at him, but seeing him in that state made Bakugou shut his mouth. Screaming would only scare him, and that wasn't a good thing.
If he remembered correctly, this was a meltdown, or maybe a overstimulation. He could only remember Mrs. Midoriya hugging her son from behind and putting pressure on his chest, while Mrs. Bakugou covered his ears, both of them rocking Izuku.
That could work, right? He just needed those headphones that the nerd fecuently used in the classroom, the same ones that he implemented in his hero costume. Katsuki's eyes flew around the room, trying to locate those headphones.
Fortunately, he found them on Izuku's desk, so with precaution he put the headphones, hugging Izuku and taking his hands just so he could stop scratching his own legs.
He applied pressure with that hug, trying to rock him in a relaxed way. While this happend, Katsuki tried to remember everything about autism that his mother teached him, just in case Izuku needed help.
"More" Izuku mumbled, and Katsuki put more pressure to the hug, he prayed that it worked, he didn't want to make a fuss, or even worse, involve the UA staff, too much people would scare Izuku more.
"You need to eat... Even Eri weighed more than you when we rescued her.." Katsuki said, trying to cheer Izuku, even a little, but that didn't seem to work.
"I know that you and me don't talk that much, hell I don't even know if you forgive me.. but I want to fix things, I want to make it up to you.." he confessed, hugging Izuku closer, "And, for reasons I don't understand you never gave up on me, so let me do the same for you, don't forgive me yet, because I haven't done anything to deserve it"
He felt his hands get wet, Izuku was crying, obviously he was, he was suffocated.
"I don't exactly know what is happening to you, but it's obviously getting out of control and you need to stop it"
And in that moment, Izuku just started to cry even more, letting it all out, he couldn't stand another night without sleeping, and he also wanted to fix things with Katsuki.
"I'm sorry.. I'm sorry... I'm sorry Kacchan" Izuku mumbled, trying to dry his tears.
"Don't be sorry De- Izuku, it's no one's fault, we just have to find a way for it to stop messing with your life" Katsuki said, letting Izuku go for a moment and taking the Katsudon bowl he initially brought for him.
"There, eat, you need proteins, how do you plan to be a hero if you have nothing in your stomach?"
"heh, I don't know Kacchan.."

Things didn't get better the next day, but there was certainly a little improvement. Katsuki started to sleep with Midoriya some nights, keeping an eye on him and making sure he at least got some sleep, they also told Aizawa, who gave permission to Katsuki to sleep with him.
Of course the fear was there, but, it didn't take control over his life like before.
