Chapter Text
When he answered his phone at five in the morning, he didn't expect it would be about his two problem children. The ever two that has given him nothing but migraines and grey hairs the entire first year of school. There are so many late nights. So many cups of coffee and nowhere near enough naps.
Aizawa envied his husband. His eyes glared daggers into the sleeping man’s back as he slipped on his hero suit that he just took off a few hours before from patrol. Fucking Yagi. Who would think it’s wise to call him at this hour?
That blonde idiot.
Aizawa sighed tiredly and walked out of his apartment. Yagi called him with such urgency in his voice that he was wide as awake as he can be. Recovery Girl also texted him to back up Yagi’s story. Now, that was never a good sign.
Upon arriving to Recovery Girl’s wing, the sound of a child crying was the first thing that set off a red flag in his brain. Great. Who the hell brought a child—His words instantly died when he entered the room. The child that was bawling his eyes out was... Izuku Midoriya or problem child depending on the day. Those big emerald eyes and the green curls were a dead giveaway.
Now what was odd was the blonde spikey hair toddler hugging the crying child protectively. Blazing crimson eyes glancing between the three adults. That would Katsuki Bakugo... but the real question was why are they touching?
“I don’t want to know.”
Izuku paused mid cry at the new voice that spoke and gasped, eyes widening. “K-Kachan! I-It's Eraserhead!”
“HAH!? Who the fuck is that?!” Katsuki narrowed his eyes to him.
Yeah, no question that’s Bakugo.
Aizawa sighed tiredly and crouched down in front of the pair. “How old are you both?” Yagi opened his mouth out of the corner of his eye but he held up his hand.
Katsuki scuffed loudly, his small arms wrapped a little tighter around the other toddler. “My birthday is next week, hobo!”
“I’m three!” Izuku squeaked.
Odd. Izuku isn’t as... anxious at this age. To be honest, he thought he was born with it at the point but clearly that was wrong. Izuku was a very cheerful child, happy. Katsuki seemed the same but very protective over Izuku.
He was going to have whiplash from all this.
“I am Eraserhead but how did you know that? I’m an und—”
Izuku smiled brightly, “Underground hero! I-I watched one of your videos and you are sooooo cool! Your quirk is Erasure! With one look you can take away anyone’s quirk that isn’t a mutation quirk until you blink! Once you blink the quirk is turned back on like a light switch!” By the end of his little ramble the boy was panting slightly.
He knew all that at a young age because of a video? What the fuck.
“It seems the boys were hit with a deaging quirk.” Recovery Girl interrupted. “We are currently looking through the database but they could just go back to normal or they could slowly grow back until they reach the correct age. We won’t know until tomorrow.”
Aizawa held out his hand to the green haired toddler. “And why was I called and not their parents?” He asked softly. Izuku looked up at the blonde bouncing from foot to foot. Katsuki snarled and crossed his arms over his chest but have him a jerk of his head. Izuku squealed and took his hand, keeping a tight grip on Katsuki’s.
“Um, the Bakugo’s are in the states for a fashion show and work for the next month and... we can’t get a hold of Ms. Midoriya.” Yagi bent down to whisper in his ear, “The apartment listed on his file was empty and had a new resident.”
Aizawa kept his face neutral as rage bubbled his blood in his veins. “I guess I’m taking them. Thankfully, it’s winter break and most of the students aren’t around.” Problem children.
“Old man! Izuku’s fucking hungry!” Katsuki stomped his foot. He could picture a small explosion popping off his palms if he had his quirk. Huh, wonder how Izuku’s quirk was at a young age.
He raised an eyebrow, “Well, let’s get you both back to my apartment and get breakfast going.”
“W-we get to go with you, Mr. Eraser sir!?”
“Aizawa is fine.”
“Zawa! Do you know how to make pancakes?! I really like pancakes!” Izuku giggled, giving him another blinding smile that was instantly melting his stone cold heart.
Aizawa gave the other two adults a look before leading the way to his apartment. “I don’t cook, kid. I have someone else do that for me.”
Katsuki scuffed, looking away. “Lazy ass.”
Jesus... he started the swearing so damn young.
Good thing it was time for his husband to get up anyways. When he opened the door, the smell of coffee smelled like heaven to his lungs. He was going to need so much coffee this week. Izuku shrunk back into the blonde’s chest when he shut the door. Katsuki scowled but held him tightly.
“Sho? Is that you?”
Aizawa rolled his eyes, “You ask that after we already inside?”
Hizashi poked his head out from the kitchen, long blonde hair falling forward over his shoulder. “We? I don’t see anyone with you and it better not be another cat, Shouta. I’ll hurt you.”
“Z-Zawa...” Izuku whispered, tugging on his pant leg to get his attention. “T-that’s Present Mic.” Aizawa was surprised... not that he should be after he picked him out with just one look but he didn’t even see Hizashi yet. Impressive.
“You got to keep it a secret, okay?” Aizawa crouched down in front of him and the boy’s hands found his capturing weapon his time. “That’s my husband, Hizashi. I call him Zashi.”
The panic slowly faded from his emerald eyes, “Okay, Zawa...”
“Go ask him if he’ll make you pancakes.” This kid needed a push out of his shell and he was willing to give it to him. Izuku slowly nodded before clasping his hands together and walking towards the kitchen.
“Z-Zashi...?” His voice was tiny and shook slightly with the simple word.
Hizashi looked down, gasping. “Little listener! You got tiny!” The loud hero didn’t waste a second scoping the boy into arms. “You are as cute as a button!”
Izuku giggled, “Mama says the same thing! Can we have pancakes!? Kachan likes his with cin... cinnnnnamon!”
“Totally, ya cute thing!”
Aizawa watched the two disappear into the kitchen, leaving him alone with the little bundle of angry. “Are you two friends?”
“HAH!? What kind of stupid ass question is that! He’s my bestest friend and my wife asshat!” Katsuki spat, “He’s mine, hobo! Back off!”
What...
Best friends and wife?
This is coming from the same boy that tried to bodily harm him the first week of school? Why were there so many pieces to this puzzle and more hole were appearing than being filled.
“Best friends, huh?”
Katsuki crossed his arms over his chest, puffing his cheeks trying to make sure he was bigger. “Duh. We’re going to get our quirks and become the best hero duo ever! We’ll be better than All Might!”
The underground hero, nodding. “Not a bad plan. You two can surely get to number one without breaking a sweat.” He encouraged.
“Yeah! We’re gonna be the damn best!”
Breakfast went smoothly.
Katsuki was loud towards Izuku but... in a weird caring way. Izuku wouldn’t even bat an eye, he nodded and go along with whatever Katsuki was telling him to do. They both at four large pancakes and two strips of bacon. Katsuki made sure to force Izuku to drink down all his milk so he would grow taller. According to the tiny blonde, he wouldn’t have someone taller than him but not too short either.
Izuku was the first to find the kitties that wondered around the apartment. Katsuki wouldn’t go near them. That was probably the first time he’s seen Katsuki scared of something. The boy stayed close to the younger boy, eyes on him protectively, watching and waiting for something to happen.
Hizashi decided to run to the mall and grab some clothes for the two toddlers. Some for now and later since who knew when they’s be growing. Izuku sat on the corner of the couch with Hero News playing on the TV while Katsuki slept on the other end.
They were so... well behaved but one of them didn’t have an explosive quirk and the other to break his bones.
There were also other matters... like where the fuck is Izuku’s mother and why did she just run off? Nezu was currently looking into that one. Who the fuck would leave this ball of sunshine. God, that just pissed him off and it took everything in him not to hunt her down himself.
BOOM!
That was not how he wanted to wake up the next morning.
Aizawa jumped out of bed and ran down the hallway to the guest bedroom where the two boys were put to bed the night before. Katsuki was taller, maybe about seven and he was currently standing over Izuku with a completely different demeanor.
Izuku was crying, curled up in a ball trying to make himself as small as possible.
“Stupid Deku! What the fuck are you doing touching me!?”
His eyes widened. It was like night and day. Katsuki wasn’t the protective, caring boy he was yesterday... this Katsuki made more sense from the two years he’s known them. This Katsuki was a smaller version of present day Katsuki.
“K-Kachan! I-I d-d-don't know!” Izuku sputtered out the best he could. This Izuku also made sense to him... the stutters were a good first clue.
Katsuki let another explosion pop of his palm as he sneered to the shorter boy, “You worthless Deku! Don’t ever fucking touch me with your quirkless hands again!!”
One word stuck out of that whole sentence.
Quirkless.
Izuku Midoriya was quirkless?
Aizawa sighed and flashed his quirk to the blonde, “Enough. You will not speak to him like that, Katsuki. Now, go out and take a shower.”
“Shut the fuck up—why the fuck won’t my quirk work!?”
“Because I can erase it, if you want it back then go take a shower and calm down.” He stared at the boy while he processed everything then stomped from the room. Aizawa shut the door and crouched against it, “Izuku, it’s just me and you.”
The six year old slowly lifted his head, wide green eyes full of fear met his, “E-Eraserhead...?”
“Yeah, kid, but you can call me Zawa.” Aizawa tried his best to keep his voice soft. “What happened?”
Izuku bit down on his lip as his eyes pooled with unshed tears. “I-I—” He shook his head quickly, looking back down at his lap. Two years and everything changed between them. A friendship destroyed... but what caused it?
“Izuku, are you truly quirkless?” He asked gently.
Izuku bit back a sob, nodding his head quickly. Why was that the missing piece? He opened his arms to the child and once Izuku saw the invitation that was enough for him. The boy bolted forward and buried his face into his bare chest.
Aizawa frowned at the heartbreaking sobs that came from the boy in his lap. “It’s okay, Izuku, I got you.” It didn’t take long for the explosive boy to start his rage fit. Hizashi was handling that without him as he helped his problem child. “I promise to protect you.”
And boy, that was fucking hard.
Any second Izuku looked towards the other boy, he exploded, quirk popping and calling him a Deku. Why the hell his hero name was Deku was beyond him.
Finally, Hizashi took Izuku to their bedroom for a nap with the cats and left him with the emotional stunted blonde. The boy was just pure anger.
“Katsuki, no quirk in the house.” He warmed as he saw sparks bouncing on his sweaty palm.
Katsuki snarled at him, “You’re not my damn mom! Shut the fuck up!”
“Doesn’t matter. Your parents left you in my care and my rules will be followed.” He stated simply, “A hero follows the rules or isn’t a hero at all.”
Something flickered in his scarlet eyes, “I don’t have to follow rules. My quirk is the best.”
Aizawa tilted his head slightly, “And my quirk over powers yours. Mine can take yours away in seconds leaving you... quirkless.”
“I ain’t like that fucking deku!”
“No, you’re not as smart as him.”
Katsuki clenched his small fists at his sides, “I’m better! Everyone says so!”
“A quirk is just a tool. It all depends on the user wields it. You are acting like a villain instead of a hero. Turning your back on your best friend that you promised to marry and hurting him with your quirk... that’s no hero.”
Katsuki jutted out his lower lip, folding his arms over his chest, “Teacher said it was fine. Teachers told us too.”
Aizawa was going to have a fun time talking with those teachers... later. He sighed, “Katsuki, no one is better than the other. You bullying your friend is just being a villain. You know right from wrong, don’t you?”
“Yes! Who the fuck doesn’t?!”
“Then hurting Izuku is right?”
Katsuki frowned, glancing down the hallway where Izuku disappeared to, “No...” His frown deepened as all the rage and anger escaped from his tiny body. “Does he hate me?”
Aizawa shook his head softly, “I don’t think he could ever hate you.”
The third day came... and he wasn’t prepared for it. Today, he witnessed Izuku actually getting hurt by Katsuki. The cocky brat. Aizawa and Hizashi quickly figured out that they forgot the day before when they aged up.
They both decided to wake up early and wait. What the hell they were waiting for they didn’t know but Aizawa already knew he wasn’t going to like it at all.
Izuku woke up first. He came down the hallway... so quietly that he almost missed him. When did he get so quiet? Or more importantly... why? Aizawa listened for the toilet to flush and the sink turning on. Two minutes later, it was like Izuku just appeared without a sound.
“Good morning, Izuku.” Hizashi flashed him a smile but the boy jumped so high and scrambled to cover his face with his arms. “Whoa there, listener.”
Izuku peeked out from under his arms. “P-Present Mic?”
“The one and only! How old are you, listener?”
“U-Uh... f-fourteen?” Izuku answered cautiously.
Aizawa took a long drink of his coffee before speaking, “Do you have a quirk?”
Izuku once again jumped at his voice, “U-Uh... no.”
So, he still didn’t have one at fourteen but he had to have gotten one from now until the entrance exam. What the flying fuck is going on here?!
The guest bedroom door slammed opened.
Izuku jumped and let out a small yelp which caused a chain reaction. Katsuki’s eyes were instantly on the shorter boy with a pissed off expression.
“What the fuck, Deku?! I told you to stop following me!!” Katsuki snarled, mini explosions popping from his hands as he stomped over to the greenette.
“I-I’m not, K-Kachan!”
“Thought I told you how to become less useless.” A wicked smirk formed on his lips. “Take a swan dive off the roof of the building—”
Aizawa flashed his quirk and used his capturing weapon to shut the blonde teen up. “That. Is. Enough.” He struggled not to spit out every word.
Izuku’s shoulders fell as he deflated, “I-It’s okay... I-I'm used t-to it.”
“No one should be treated like this.” Hizashi said, “No one. Not even you.”
The greenette turned to look at the loud hero and smiled a little. “He’s right. No one wants a useless quirkless deku. Dad didn’t. Mom didn’t.”
Katsuki froze.
“What do you mean ‘mom didn’t’?” Aizawa asked softly.
Izuku twisted his fingers together painfully tight, “M-mom left... a year ago? Maybe? I don’t really remember.” The blonde teen fought against thing bindings, trying hard to get free. Aizawa let up just a tiny bit and the piece around his mouth fell to his neck.
“What fuck you mean Auntie left?!”
“S-She left a note saying... she deserved more than a q-quirkless son.”
Katsuki stared at the shorter boy in shock. “And where the fuck you’ve been living!?”
“U-Uh... well... h-here and there...” Izuku looked down at his bare feet. Aizawa felt exactly how Katsuki did. How the hell did anyone miss it?! “I-It’s really not a big deal...”
The underground hero released Katsuki as he walked across the room and pulled the boy into a hug. Izuku let out a soft gasp. “It’s not okay. It’s a huge deal.” His gaze lifted to the other teen, “And you. We will be having a seriously long talk about what you just said.”
The rest of the day was spent with one of the heroes holding Izuku as he told his story. Katsuki sat in the chair off to the side, watching Izuku closely. This was crazy.
“Tomorrow when everything is back to normal, we will be talking too, Izuku.”
Aizawa didn’t sleep a fucking wink. Hizashi didn’t do any better, he tossed and turned all night. There were so many things he just learned about the pair but more of Izuku. Things he didn’t like one bit and there was only so much coffee that could calm him.
Izuku was the first one to appear just like yesterday. The scars on his arms back where they belong as he rubbed his eyes. Muscles and height back. The hero watched him closely. Izuku gained so much weight and muscle mass in two years... and a quirk.
“Mr. Aizawa?”
“Good morning, problem child.”
Izuku frowned a bit, “Why... am I here?”
“We’ll get to that, listener! Why don’t you come sit and eat some breakfast while we wait for Bakugo to wake up, ya dig?”
“Kachan’s here?” Izuku asked, glancing around the room.
Aizawa nodded, “Yes. Now sit and eat before it gets col—”
“The fuck!? Where the fuck am I?!” Katsuki walked out of the guest bedroom, palm raised and ready to fight.
Great...
He was about to get up but Izuku turned to the angry bomb of a teenager and smiled one of his blinding smiles. “Kachan! We’re with Mr. Aizawa!”
Katsuki stared at the other for a moment then shrugged, “We didn’t do shit!” He growled out as he walked over to Izuku and hooked his chin on his shoulder. “Why the hell are we here?”
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Hizashi asked, staring at them like they grew two heads.
Izuku smiled, knocking his head against the other’s, “We went to the mini mart down the street for drinks and snacks!”
“Nerd can’t watch a damn movie without chips.”
“You wanted those spicy ones too!”
Aizawa watched the two go back and forth for a while then cleared his throat. “Sit down you two.” The teens stiffened slightly and walked to the table, sitting down across from them. “You two must have ran into someone with a deaging quirk. The last four days you’ve been aging to different ages. First you both were almost four.
“Bakugo you were very protective of Midoriya at that age.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes, “Stupid crybaby.” He mumbled, nudging the shorter teen’s shoulder.
“Then you both aged up to about seven... and Midoriya, you were quirkless while Bakugo bullied you.”
Izuku’s eyes widened, emerald orbs filling with nothing but horror, “Mr. Aizawa! I-I—”
“Then you both aged up to fourteen. Still quirkless. Still a bully.” He looked between the two teens. Izuku’s face pale white, mouth gaping as his body trembled. Katsuki looked down at the table, glaring at the wood like it was the one who insulted him and his fists clenched and unclenched several times. Aizawa sighed heavily, leaning back in his chair, “You two have an interesting history but let’s pause the bullying because we’ve been over that.” Sliding his full gaze to Izuku’s, he raised an eyebrow, “You were quirkless until you were fourteen and your mother left you at thirteen, give or take.”
“I-I...” Izuku looked over at the blonde who shrugged with a scowl on his lips. “All Might gave me his quirk... a-after the S-Sludge Villain...”
Well, Yagi was about to die when he gets his hands on that old man.
“And your mother?”
It was Izuku’s turn to shrug, “I-I don’t know. She left... like dad did.”
Hizashi frowned deeply, “Where have you been staying?”
“U-Um the dorms... Kachan t-takes me home when the school closes and I-I sell my m-merch for money.” Izuku’s body slumped forward as if all the weight that had been weighing him down finally lifted and he could relax.
“That ends now.” Izuku looked up through his tussled curls to meet his eyes, “You will be staying here if you need to. If you need money, we’ll give it to you.”
Hizashi nodded in agreement, “Ya, little listener! We have a guest bedroom with your name on it.”
Aizawa knew the shorter teen was going to fight him tooth and nail to accept this. It would take hours if not days for Izuku’s walls to crumble and let them in—
“Nerd.” Katsuki grunted out, twisting in his seat to look down at his boyfriend, “Let them fucking help you. They want to.”
Izuku bit down on his wobbly lip as he stared at him for a long time. “O-Okay, Kachan...” The boy deflated in his chair completely exhausted.
“And don’t think you got out of what I know about you, Katsuki.” Aizawa glared over at the blonde teen, taking a long sip of his coffee. “Problem Children.”
