The rev of the race car's engine brings comfort to Nico. Reminds him that he’s both in his safe space, but also his element.
On the asphalt is where he thrives.
As soon as the green flag waves, he takes off. And he simply does what he knows he does best.
Though he may have placed 6th during qualifiers, he doesn’t let that deter him or hold him back. As he expertly swerves past the other racers, he finds himself on the bumper of the racer in first - Percy Jackson.
Suddenly, the sound of a familiar voice guides Nico.
“Ride the inside lane once you have enough speed on the second corner.”
Smiling to himself, Nico follows his spotters commands. His spotter, who was also his boyfriend. Will Solace, who excelled at both of his jobs.
Nico executes Will’s commands flawlessly, and passes Percy on the last lap. Swerving left and right, Nico maintains first place, and crosses the line in first as the checkered flag waves.
“Woohoo!” Will cheers, coming down from his post as Nico pulls the race car into the pit.
Hopping out, they meet in the middle and embrace, Will laughing as he picks up Nico and spins them around.
“Put me down!” Nico whines, though he secretly loves Will holding him so lovingly.
Will kind of obeys Nico’s request, though he dips him and kisses him sweetly on the lips.
“Really, guys? Right in front of my salad?”
They both turn their heads to see none other than a salty looking Percy Jackson, and accordingly start laughing loudly. As Percy groans, they kiss again, relishing in the sensation of a sweet victory.
