Chapter Text
Enid was sitting on her bed listening to K-pop and scrolling through twitter when Wednesday arrived home from fencing practice. As she walked through the door, Enid smiled at her and hopped up from her seated position.
“Hey Wednesday! How was fencing?”
“As it always is.” She moved to sit at her desk to begin her writing time.
Enid chuckled at Wednesday’s response. “Of course it was.” Met by silence, Enid continued speaking. “So,” she elongated the vowel trying to figure out how to phrase what she wanted to say. “You know that senior that I’ve been chatting with lately? Henry?”
At this, Wednesday turned around stiffly. “Yes, I am aware of his existence,” she spit out gaining another small chuckle from Enid.
“Well, he mentioned that if I wanted some alcohol he could get me some! Isn’t that exciting?”
Wednesday’s eyes squinted subtly as she blurted out “Why would you want that, Enid?”
“Well, most of my friends have tried it and I’m going to be eighteen in a few months and I’m mostly just really really curious!” She rushed out. “Plus, I would much rather try it for the first time in the safety of our dorm rather than a big party with a ton of people I don’t trust.”
At this, Wednesday’s eyes softened slightly. “I suppose that makes sense. It would be better to understand the ways in which alcohol affects you when there is somebody to watch over you.”
“Awww, you would do that for me, Wednesday?”
“No. But thing will.” She glanced to the severed hand as he enthusiastically agreed. “And I would like to be here as well, but I will not be watching over you.”
Enid smiled sweetly at her roommate, “Okay, Wednesday. I would also rather have you here. How about this Friday?” She suggested.
“Fine.”
—
The next day, Enid took Henry up on his offer during lunch. The pair had been slowly becoming friends ever since the last full moon, and Enid was thrilled to have another werewolf to talk to. She knew Wednesday thought there was more going on between the two of them, but Henry treated her like a little sister and she was perfectly happy with that.
“Hey, Enid! How’s it going?” The senior asked his newfound friend.
“Henry! Hi! I’m awesome actually and you are just the person I wanted to see.”
“Well I’m here and at your service, madam.” He said, fake saluting, which got a laugh from Enid.
“So I decided that I do wanna try alcohol - if the offer still stands?”
“Yeah of course, dude. I gotchu. Do you want liquor, beer, or hard seltzer?”
“Um, I have no clue. What would you recommend for my first time?”
“Well you probably won’t like beer because it’s an acquired taste. I’m assuming you like sweet and fruity drinks?” At Enid’s eager nod, he laughed. “Okay I’m gonna get you some vodka, ginger ale, grenadine, and maraschino cherries so you can make dirty shirley temples.”
Enid’s eyes lit up. “Oh my god that sounds amazing, I haven’t had a shirley temple since I was like eight years old.”
“Yeah it’s my girlfriend’s favorite drink. She swears by it. Just make sure you have a lot of water before you go to sleep because the sugar makes the hangover worse.”
“Duly noted.” Enid muttered gratefully.
—
On Friday morning, Enid woke up excited. Her classes seemed to drag on and on, but finally she arrived back in her dorm to find Wednesday sitting on her monochromatic bed with a book in hand. Enid did her best to suppress the warmth that flooded her chest when they made eye contact, but her efforts were futile.
“Hi Wednesday! I missed you today.” She said cheerfully.
“It has been less than 8 hours since you last saw me, Enid.”
Enid blushed. “I know, but still. I’m allowed to miss my best friend.” She pretended not to see the way the corner of Wednesday’s mouth flicked up for a millisecond, but it gave her butterflies anyway.
Enid had known about her crush on Wednesday for a while now. From the moment she laid eyes on her, she had been somewhat of a magnetic force. It was obvious that Wednesday was stunningly beautiful, by far the most beautiful person Enid had ever seen, but it wasn’t until crackstone that it became impossible to ignore the deeper feelings that had developed. Not that she would ever do anything about said feelings, she knew Wednesday would never like her back in that way. So Enid treasured their friendship and did everything she could to keep her infatuation hidden from her roommate.
Enid had just finished unpacking her bag and changing into comfier clothes when there was a knock at the door. She walked over and swung it open to reveal Henry holding a heavy bag.
“Hey Enid, Got what you asked for!” Henry said, raising the bag up to her. Before she could respond, she felt Wednesday brush against her side. How on earth did she get up so fast?
“We appreciate it, now you may leave.” Wednesday scowled at the boy as she simultaneously reached for the bag and slammed the door closed.
“Wednesday! You can’t just do that, it’s mean and he’s my friend.” Enid pouted. Wednesday’s eyes narrowed at the term ‘friend.’
“He is clearly in love with you. And your niceties scream that you like him back. Do you, Enid?” Wednesday’s eyes stared into hers with the intensity of a thousand suns, searching for something. Enid’s heart skipped a beat with the ferocity of their eye contact.
“N-no. Wednesday, no. I don’t like him. And I know for a fact that he doesn’t like me either.”
“Thats impossible.” Wednesday muttered under her breath. Enid’s eyes widened as she wasn’t sure how to interpret Wednesday’s words.
“It’s impossible that he doesn’t like me or its impossible to know that he doesn’t like me?” Enid asked hesitantly. Wednesday swallowed imperceptibly.
“The ladder.” She said defiantly, shoulders back and head high. Enid giggled at Wednesday’s body language.
“You’re so stubborn, Wednesday,” she said with a smile. “I know he doesn’t like me because he treats me like a little sister and he’s head over heels in love with his girlfriend.” At this, Wednesday looked surprised.
“So you guys are actually just friends?”
“I promise you. Just friends.” Enid said softly. “It’s sweet that you’re protective of me, though,” she said with a ghost of a smile dancing on her lips. Wednesday blinked.
“Take that back right now. I am not protective of you, I merely wish for my space not to be intruded upon.” Enid smiled hard now. She knew it was hard for Wednesday to talk about her emotions, so she would let it go for now.
“Fine, I take it back.”
“Why are you smiling?”
Enid just looked at Wednesday for a moment, taking everything in. Wednesday raised an eyebrow. “It’s hard not to smile when you’re happy.”
“And why are you happy?” Wednesday pressed.
Enid decided to let Wednesday have this one, so she pointed to the alcohol. “Duh, I’m excited to try this!” She took the bag from Wednesday’s hand, ignoring the electricity she felt when their fingers brushed, and brought it to her desk. She had previously looked up how to make a dirty Shirley temple, so she started mixing the drink in a red solo cup immediately. Wednesday stalked over and stood a foot away from Enid, silent.
“I have decided I would like to try some.” Wednesday said suddenly. Enid was shocked.
“Really?! I thought the Wednesday Addams wouldn’t have an interest in getting drunk.”
“I am simply interested in expanding my understanding of different poisons.” Enid laughed, shaking her head gently.
“That makes so much sense, actually,” she said, handing Wednesday the drink she had just poured. Wednesday stared at the cup while she waited for Enid to finish mixing a cup of her own. “Okay, are you ready?”
“Pointless question. Of course I am,” eliciting another small smile from Enid.
“Okay. Three, two, one.” They both took a gulp from their respective cups.
Enid’s eyes widened and lips curled up further, “This is delicious! I forgot how good shirley temples are!”
Wednesday nose scrunched and lips snarled as she set the cup down. “That is absolutely disgusting, Enid. The sweetness is terrifying, although the burning sensation is indeed quite nice.”
Enid barked out a laugh. “Of course you would think the poison is the only good part.” She grabbed another cup and poured in a shot of vodka before handing it to Wednesday. “Try this.”
Wednesday downed the shot and smiled, wiping off a bit of vodka that had dripped down her chin from her bottom lip, “That’s torturous in the best way.” Enid stared at her lips and swallowed, eyes sparking with want for just a moment before she forced herself to look away. Luckily Wednesday didn’t notice.
“Do you feel any different?” Enid asked.
“I suppose I feel slightly warmer and it’s a little harder to control my motor function. I’d like to try some more.”
“Sure, but let me finish my drink first so I can catch up to you.” She said, gulping down the rest of her drink. As she set the cup on the table, she started to feel what Wednesday was talking about. Warmth coursing through her body and feeling looser than ever before, Enid grabbed Wednesday’s hand and the bottle of vodka before pulling the girl to her colorful bed. “Let’s play a drinking game!” She squealed. Normally, Wednesday would pull her hand away and refuse to sit on such a colorful bed, but today she relaxed into Enid’s touch and easily agreed.
“What game do you have in mind?” Wednesday asked.
“Hm, I don’t even know. Let’s look it up!” She said as she pulled out her laptop and searched ‘drinking games for two people.’ She scrolled for a moment before saying “Let’s play never have I ever! Do you know to play?”
“No.”
“Okay so we’ll take turns saying things we’ve never done, and if the other person has done it then they have to drink.” Enid explained. Wednesday just nodded and began pouring out their second set of drinks. “Okay, I’ll go first?” Enid suggested. Another nod. “Hm. Oh! Never have I ever attempted to murder someone.”
Wednesday rolled her eyes and took a large sip. “Of course you haven’t, you’re too sweet for that.” Enid’s eyes widened and she flushed with color.
“You think I’m sweet, Wednesday?”
“Well you’re not sour, Enid.” Wednesday said with a tinge of embarrassment. Enid smiled at her roommate.
“I think you’re sweet too, Wednesday.” All she got was a glare in response, but her face seemed a little redder than it was a second ago. Enid counted it as a win. “Okay, your turn.”
Wednesday thought for a moment. “Never have I ever painted my nails pink.”
“Ha ha. Fine.” Enid giggled as she took her sip. “I think you would look cute with pink nails,” she said somewhat dreamily. Wednesday just looked at her, eyebrow raised. “I mean, uh, um..” She trailed off. “Oh whatever, you know I like color.”
“Indeed I do.” She responded, still making uninterrupted eye contact with the blonde. Enid might usually feel a little exposed or uncomfortable under such an intense gaze, but the alcohol was making it hard for her to entertain any thoughts other than ‘I could bask in Wednesday’s gaze forever and never want anything more.’ Until her eyes found Wednesday’s lips once more and the thoughts turned into ‘Maybe I would want more.’
They had been staring at each other for a beat too long when Enid finally pulled herself out of the trance she was in. “Okay! My turn!” She said, barely startlingly Wednesday. “Never have I ever smoked weed.” Wednesday didn’t take a sip, as expected.
“Never have I ever had fleas.”
“Hey! It was one time, Wednesday! And I told you that in confidence.” Enid whined as she took her sip.
The girls continued playing, laughing and teasing each other, until no liquor remained in their cups. They sat across from each other, knees touching, faces about a foot apart.
“Soooo, how do you feel now that you’ve had two drinks?” Enid asked Wednesday curiously. She had noticed a small difference in the way Wednesday was interacting with her. It wasn’t overt, but the smaller girl seemed much less rigid than usual.
“The effects of the second drink were greater than the first. I feel warmth coursing through my body and my limbs feel a little heavier. I also find myself disliking physical touch less, interestingly.” Wednesday looked at her roommate closely. “How do you feel, Enid?”
Enid smiled tipsily, “I feel really good, Willa. I also feel warm and my limbs feel heavy and I find myself wanting physical touch even more than usual.” She muttered the last part, a little embarrassed. Wednesday smiled softly at her.
“If you tell anyone what I’m about to say, I will murder your entire family, but I suppose it would be alright if you stopped holding back your physical affection… Just for now.”
Enid looked shocked. “A- Are you sure? I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
Wednesday nodded. “I wouldn’t have offered.” Enid’s smile broke free, almost hurting her cheeks by the sheer force of it. She cautiously reached for Wednesday’s hand and when the girl wrapped her fingers around the blonde’s hand, Enid felt like she was holding onto a live wire - electricity coursing through every atom in her body. Wednesday looked similarly shocked, but she managed to hide it a little better.
“Should we put the alcohol away or would you like to have some more?” Wednesday asked.
On the one hand, Enid knew it would be even harder to control her infatuation with another drink in her, but she simultaneously craved the physical affection Wednesday was letting her get away with, and she wasn’t about to give that up. And maybe she was a little bit curious about what a third drink would feel like.
Enid giggled and leaned into Wednesday’s shoulder for a moment, eyes fluttering closed. Wednesday’s heart skipped a beat and she felt a swarm of spiders in her stomach. “Maybe just one more drink.” Enid said as she leaned back to pour two fresh drinks, letting go of Wednesday’s hand in the process.
Wednesday had never before felt disappointed when anyone had stopped touching her, what was wrong with her? With her loosened inhibitions, she softly placed her left hand on Enid’s right knee, attempting to keep some sort of physical connection. Apparently this poison’s effects were making her crave touch, disgusting.
Feeling Wednesday’s hand on her knee, her breath hitched gently and she swooned. As their eyes met again, Wednesday noticed that Enid’s seemed more hooded than minutes before, her breathing a little more shallow.
They both took another few sips, still making eye contact. The liquid courage gave Enid the push to place her left hand on Wednesday’s right knee. “Now it’s even.” She said softly. Wednesday’s eyes fluttered closed for the briefest moment. Enid might not have caught it if she wasn’t staring at Wednesday like her life depended on it.
“I suppose it is.” She whispered gently.
“Do you wanna keep playing never have I ever?” Asked Enid.
“…Sure.” Wednesday replied, still fighting to keep her heart rate normal.
“Okay. Let me think… Ooh! Never have I ever kissed a girl.” Enid said, a tinge of sadness accompanying the statement.
“Why do you seem upset by that?” Wednesday inquired.
“It’s not that I’m upset by it! I just don’t like the idea that I’m missing out on something. It’s more of a curiosity than an actual desire.” Enid lied easily.
“Hm. Do you require it to be meaningful and romantic or is it merely about being able to say you have kissed a girl?”
“No, I don’t require it to be anything I guess. I’m just curious what it feels like and if it’s any different from kissing boys. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I’ll probably get Yoko to kiss me someday to see what its like.” She said shrugging.
Wednesday narrowed her eyes and her fingers subconsciously squeezed Enid’s knee. Enid let out the softest whimper at the feeling of the brunette’s fingers tightening. Her face burned red.
“Don’t do that. You can kiss me if you’re curious about what it’s like to kiss another girl.” She said, shoulders back.
Enid stared at her, mouth agape, eyes wide, and completely dumbstruck. “Really?! Wednesday, you hate physical touch!”
Wednesday glanced down at their position and then back up at Enid. “I thought so too, but you seem to be an exception right now.” A flush spread from her cheeks to her collarbone and she prayed Enid wouldn’t pick up on it. Unfortunately for her, Enid was so in tune and enamored with all things Wednesday she couldn’t have missed it if she tried.
“O-Okay, if you’re sure it’s okay.” She said, setting her drink down on the floor and watching Wednesday do the same before returning to their previous position, but a few inches closer.
Wednesday’s eyes fell to her lips and her breathing shallowed. She gave a slight nod and leaned in a few centimeters. Her eyes roaming Enid’s face hungrily, finally settling on her lips, eyes hooded.
Enid’s heart jackhammered in her chest as she slowly leaned in to close the distance between them. Their lips brushed and already Enid felt the swarm of butterflies in her stomach increase tenfold. She felt Wednesday press her lips a little more firmly against her own, and she barely prevented the moan from escaping her mouth.
Enid’s left hand starting rubbing circles on Wednesday’s knee subconsciously, which in turn caused Wednesday’s breath to hitch, her mouth opening just slightly against Enid’s. Warmth flooded her, and it gave her the courage to softly swipe her tongue against Wednesday’s bottom lip. She heard the brunette’s breathing quicken before she felt her open her mouth almost imperceptibly more, finally feeling their tongues meet. She was immediately addicted, it was the strongest drug she could ever imagine. The feeling of Wednesday’s tongue, softly meeting hers as her breathing continued to quicken - it would haunt her until death.
She felt Wednesday’s right hand fall to her thigh as her delicate fingers danced on her skin. It was too much for Enid to keep quiet any longer. She unwillingly released a small moan and pressed deeper into Wednesday’s mouth. Chills ran down the brunette’s spine at the beautiful sound, and she made it her mission to do whatever she needed to in order to hear more from Enid. She let out a harsh breath and licked deeper into Enid’s mouth, simultaneously moving her left hand up the outside of the blonde’s thigh to trace patterns.
Enid felt like she was on fire. Every inch of her felt more alive than ever before. She moved her right hand to Wednesday’s neck and pulled her impossibly closer when she heard Wednesday groan into her mouth and gently bite her bottom lip before quickly soothing it with her tongue once more. Enid moaned even louder, embarrassed by how little control she had over her body’s reactions. This only spurred Wednesday on, who was now on her knees, taller than Enid. She moved her hands from the blonde’s legs to her waist and then readjusted herself so that she was sitting in Enid’s lap, still kissing her like her life depended on it - doing her best to draw out moans and whimpers and heavy breathing from the blonde.
Wednesday’s fingers traced shapes over Enid’s ribs through her shirt, hating the way the material prevented her from touching Enid’s soft skin. They were both panting at this point, neither willing to end the kiss - not knowing if they would ever have another one.
Enid felt crazed, the brunette’s touch was better than she ever could have dreamed of. She moved her left hand from Wednesday’s knee to her hip and held her tightly, feeling a loud moan tumble out of Wednesday. The pleasure she got from hearing her moan made her moan in response and lick even more hungrily into the brunette’s mouth. She felt Wednesday’s hands tighten, sending a familiar and heavenly warmth to her lower stomach. “Fuck, Wednesday” she moaned. Wednesday’s breath hitched again and it seemed to snap her out of her trance, suddenly remembering where she was and what she was doing to her best friend.
She leaned back from Enid and looked down at their position, her sitting on top of the blonde. She looked mortified and immediately removed her hands and jumped off the bed, eyes wider than ever.
Enid stared at her, wildly embarrassed and so so turned on. After a beat of silence, Enid finally opened her mouth to speak.
“Well I guess now I’ve kissed a girl.” She muttered.
Wednesday nodded stiffly, still reeling what from had just happened. “I hope it met your expectations.” Enid gulped and nodded, gazing at Wednesday. The brunette stood there for another few moments before stating, “I need to use the restroom,” as she turned on her heels and left the room.
Enid just stared after her, touching her lips, breathing finally slowing down. Wednesday Addams would be the death of her.
