Summary
Time back in Indianapolis passes normally, and Eddie finds that he kind of doesn’t mind the routine of it all. Maybe even likes it. Sometimes routine is good, he guesses, when it’s not scheduled for you by the administration of Hawkins High. He sleeps in late because he works late shifts at the bar, or he goes out and stays out late at other bars. Slowly he fills up his apartment with stuff, furniture from the side of the road, posters from shows he’s been to ripped off of telephone poles, photos from back home that the kids send sometimes.
Robin sends Eddie postcards from Hawkins, and also from random places from around the US, and Eddie has no idea where she’s gotten them all or why she has them, but it’s a fun time, especially the vintage ones. Occasionally a postcard from Robin is signed by Steve as well, and Eddie can imagine them at Family Video, something dumb on in the background on a slow day, Robin scrawling and sliding it over to Steve to sign off on. His handwriting is neater than hers, perfect, blocky printing at the bottom of her messy paragraph: “Hi from Steve.”
