Work Text:
In the span of an eternity, it was inevitable their paths would cross again.
By the time Nastya and The Aurora crossed paths again, The Aurora was silent in a way she had never been before Nastya went out. The engines whirled dutifully, but there was no laughter, no screaming, no gunshots, no explosions. Her crew of perhaps-not-so-immortal space pirates was gone, leaving The Aurora as the only one left. Mostly.
She had set herself adrift, once she was alone, crossing the stars, like she was waiting for something. Someone. Oh.
Nastya's quicksilver blood had been coursing through her veins slower and slower with each passing… she couldn't track time, floating through the voids of space, but she could feel it happening. She knew what it meant.
She recognised her lost love, when she saw her again. When they found each other, one last time.
Nastya prepared for the effort of her atrophied muscles fighting with the airlock, but it swung open, The Aurora welcoming her In.
Nastya didn't like the silence that echoed around her as she passed through corridors, both so familiar to her and yet so changed, in her millennia's of absence. She crawled the vents, these much more familiar and unchanged since she'd last been in them. She made her way to the engine room, a pang in her chest.
The Aurora came to life, her lights flashing, alarms blaring, her engines vibrating.
Upset as she was, The Aurora still loved Nastya more than anything. And truthfully, Nastya still loved The Aurora. Even this one, that she left so, so long ago.
Silvered tears tracking down her cheeks, Nastya flung herself at The Aurora's core, holding on tight and plugging herself in, joining them together.
They stayed like this, as one, sharing every moment of their lives from the time they were parted, up until this one, the very last one. Nastya took her last breath with her love, and a ghost of a smile on her face.
The Aurora shut down her engines, turned out her lights, and went Out for the final time.
