Notes:

hello!

Welcome back to another one of my brain rot fics!

This has been rolling around in my brain for a little and was like...hmm i should try this out.

ONCE AGAIN:
This is an adaptation of the Disney movie The Little Mermaid. Inspiration will be taken heavily from that, not all but the general plot like will follow the movie. If you don't like it boo hoo. Chapters will also be very short, and titles will not always correlate to the plot, but they will try to!

Anyways enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: fathoms below

Chapter Text

It starts with the sea. Most things in Crown Prince Bang Christopher Chan’s, sad and dreary, life do. Chan grew up along the sea. His ancestors came from the sea to the island his parents ruled over. If it were up to him, he would spend all of his time at sea.

But that’s not up to him.

When his parents passed away at 17, like many things, Chan had to give up the sea. Thrust into work, classes, and endless tutors that the advisors sent his way, he lost time to see the sea. With all of the time he spent in class and school, Chan had no close friends. He had some, but all of them were people who worked at the castle, and the others were sailors on his ship whom he never got to see anymore.

Now at 23, he is losing the one thing he has left, his freedom.

In 5 days, Chan will be crowned King and rule over his parents' country. But Chan would rather do anything else, mainly sail the seas. After pleading with his assistant and closest advisor Bambam, he is set on a farewell voyage for two days to say goodbye to his first love.

So off to sea he goes, the one place he doesn’t have to be future king, just captain; just a fellow sailor. Songs were sung all night, many barrels of ale were drunk, and fond memories were shared.

“So Chan, when’s a ring getting put on that finger hmm?” Jackson teases, slinging an arm around the man. “Believe me, Jack, I’ve tried to tell him he needs to marry,” Bam grumbles.

“I just haven’t found the right person,” Chan replies, an almost sad look on his face. “Or maybe you haven’t been looking hard enough.”

“Bam trust me when I meet them I’ll know, it’ll hit me, like lightning” Then as if the universe had heard him speak, the first cracks of thunder were heard from the sky.

“Hurricane! Man positions!”

The boat rocks back and forth with the force of the deadly waves under it, as thunder and lightning pour down. In a panic, Chan rushes to the steering wheel and tries to navigate the ship out of the rapidly approaching storm. Quickly realizing that there was no way to get out, Chan orders everyone to abandon the ship.

As soon as his lifeboat enters the water, Chan hears a distinct barking coming from the boat. Berry, his dog, was left on the ship. Not willing to leave his baby behind he climbs back up onto the ship.

Lightning strikes the ship, setting the wood on fire. Chan throws Berry off the ship, who gets caught by Bambam. Chan gets ready to jump himself, but his foot is caught in the broken and burning floorboard. Before he can manage to get himself out, gunpowder from on the ship catches on fire.

And everything goes black.

For a while, he feels nothing, as if he has been sleeping for a while, like a nap you take in the middle of the day and wake up all disoriented from. Then he feels a light touch against his forehead, then one on his chest, and another on his arms.

Chan flutters his eyes open to see who is touching him in such a gentle manner. It takes a bit but he cracks his eyes open, and through a blurry vision he sees an outline of a man.

A beautiful man.

And another?

In his perplexed state, he could not fathom how many (beautiful) men were currently around him. But the one right in front of him, staring into his eyes, smiles at him and strokes his cheek gently before disappearing.

In his haste to see the people, who most likely saved him from drowning, Chan quickly sits up, “Wait! Please!” but there is no one there.

“Chan? Is that you!” That is all he hears, then he is tackled by Bam Bam. “Dude we thought you were dead!”

“Did you see them?” Chan asks Bambam, holding him by his shoulders, “See who?”

“The beautiful men who saved me!” Bam gives him a very disbelieving look before chuckling at his friend.

“I think that you swallowed a bit too much seawater, Your Highness, let’s get you home.”
