Work Text:
“You’re so cute.” “What did you say?” “I said you look like a boot.”
Hinata had been reading a book where the two main characters were pining over each other. No one really knew he was into reading that much but he’s very much a cutesy romcom guy. He’s finally at the long awaited confession scene. The confession scene was like every other scene, person a the stubborn and closed off man is over person b’s obliviousness. They eventually kiss and boom the happiest ending everyone could imagine. Hinata’s over here gushing over the cuteness.
Of course Hinata can’t go about his daily life with this wonderful confession scene alone. So throughout the day Kageyama gets to hear bits and pieces of literally every line in the book. Kageyama decides to drop by Hinata’s house knowing he’ll still be gushing over some stupid rom com. (Kageyama reads them too, he just can’t admit it.) Within the first five minutes of Kageyama coming over Hinata’s already nearing the confession scene.
“So basically, this person gets mad at the other because how oblivious the other is, and then they realize they both had slowly fallen for each other, and boom they kiss.” Kageyama knew Hinata was pretty bad at explaining this but he couldn’t help looking at him so fondly. “Hey, that kind of reminds me of us.” Kageyama commented without really thinking. The ginger quite literally stopped functioning not knowing what to do. Of course he didn’t think Kageyama meant anything by it but what if he did.
“Kageyama, did you really mean that?”
“Hinata you know you are just like the cute little oblivious boy in your book.”
“Oh. OH.”
Hinata was always quite unaware of situations around him, but he for sure never saw Kageyama (his best friend he’s been pining over for who knows how long) confessing to him as somewhere he’d be. Hinata just started jumping around because of how happy he had felt.
“Hinata.” Kageyama says while trying to calm the tiny giant down.
“Yes I like you, now are you gonna tell me how you feel?”
“Was jumping around frantically not a proclamation enough?”
“Okay I guess you’re right.” Kageyama scoffed.
“Does this make us boyfriends?” Hinata screamed loudly.
“Of course it does dumbass, unless you don’t wanna be.” Kageyama murmured.
“WE’RE BOYFRIENDS.”
Who knew they could end up becoming their own cutesy rom com.
