Work Text:
Miu took a step forward, pounding on the door of a specific classmate. Someone she desperately needed to speak to right now.
Nothing.
Pounding harder at the door, Miu heard shuffling from the other side of the door.
“Hold on!” The occupant of the room called from the other side of the door.
Miu growled. “Hurry up, bitch! You can’t keep the gorgeous girl genius waiting forever!”
“Yeah, yeah! I’m coming, hold your horses!”
And there stood Tenko Chabashira, the exact person she needed to talk to right now.
Well, given the circumstances. She wouldn’t typically talk to Tenko like this on a daily basis.
“What’s up with you, Miu? Here, come in.” Tenko stepped aside to allow Miu to enter inside her dorm room, and closed the door as the two of them walked inside.
“Finally, you opened the goddamn door! You’re like, the queen of girl on girl stuff, right?” Miu spat.
Tenko’s eyes widened. “What? What the heck are you talking about?!”
“You know what I’m fucking talkin’ about, Ten-crotch! Girl on girl! You’re dating Himiko, aren’t ya?” Miu growled.
Tenko pinched the bridge of her nose. “Don’t call me that. But yeah, I’m dating her. Why do you care? You never cared about that stuff.”
“Well, listen. I’ve got a dilemma. And it’s ruinin’ me! You know this shit!” The inventor hissed, her face getting red.
Tenko put her arms up in defeat. “Okay, fine! Why do you need me, out of all people for this, anyways? Can’t you just talk to Kaede-”
“I-I can’t talk to Kaede!” Miu’s voice rang out. God, she didn’t even mean to raise her voice that loudly.
“Huh? Why? Aren’t you guys super close? It would make sense for you to go to her instead of me.” Tenko inquired, an eyebrow raising.
“Are ya fuckin’ dumb?” Miu crossed her arms defensively, refusing to look at Tenko.
There was a pause. Tenko’s expression changed from confusion to a knowing look, and suddenly a sly grin appeared on her face.
“The fuck are ya smilin’ at, bitch? If I wanted to be mocked, I could’ve asked Kokichi!” Miu huffed. So much for trying to get advice.
“No, no! I’ll help you! I should’ve known you liked Kaede! It’s kinda obvious, come to think of it.” Tenko laughed.
Dammit. Was it really that obvious?
“What the hell are ya talkin’ about! I don’t like her! I don’t like that flat-chested idiot! Not at all!”
Tenko tapped her chin. “So, let me get this straight. You come to me, asking about ‘girl on girl’ stuff. But for some reason you can’t tell Kaede? Even though she’s much closer to you than I am?”
“Y-Yeah! Stop fuckin’ questioning me, Ten-bitch!” Miu snapped.
“Then tell me, Miu. What girl do you like?” Tenko’s head tilted, as she went to go sit down on her bed.
“N-None of your business, bitch!”
Tenko wasn’t amused.
“You can’t just come here for advice and then not tell me who you like, Miu! I can’t help you then!” Tenko huffed, rubbing her temples.
“God, does it matter that much, virgin? I need to get my inventions done! I can’t fuckin’ focus like this! The world needs me!” Miu snarled.
It was true. Despite how much she did not want to admit it to Tenko, she did like Kaede. Maybe she liked her a bit too much. She would occupy Miu’s thoughts, thus distracting her. The world needed her genius, and this was holding her up.
“Well, all girls are different. You can’t expect them to like the same things. Like, look at us for example! We’re totally different. You can’t expect all girls to be put in the same category, that makes you stoop to the level of a degenerate male!” Tenko rambled, scowling.
“Okay, sheesh, I get it. I’ll fuckin’ tell ya. But if you tell anyone, I’m going to fuckin’ gut ya!” Miu threatened, pointing directly at Tenko.
Tenko groaned. “Fine! I won’t! I had no intention of telling anybody. Just tell me!”
“I-It’s Kaede.”
Absolutely no amount of surprise was shown on Tenko’s face. It sort of startled Miu, not that she would ever admit it.
“I knew that! I just wanted to hear you admit it.” Tenko snickered.
Miu made a noise akin to a yelp.
“Bitch! You’re playing me like a goddamn fiddle!”
“The first step is to admit your feelings. You can’t be honest with Kaede if you can’t be honest with yourself.”
“Fuck you and your sentimental crap! I don’t care about that!” Miu barked.
“But it’s true! You needed to admit it. That’s the first step to it.” The aikido master pointed out.
“Then what’s the second step, Ten-crotch? Tell me!”
“Well for one, I’m not going to keep helping you if you keep insulting me.” Tenko scolded.
“Ugh, fine. You’re real fuckin’ picky, y’know? But, fine.” Miu sighed in defeat.
“Okay, thank y-”
“Don’t fuckin’ thank me for that shit! It’s just for now!” Miu cut her off.
“Okay, whatever. You need to talk to her. You really need to.” Tenko spoke, her tone suddenly serious.
“H-Huh? The fuck? You expect me to just go up and tell her? Are you serious? Coming here was a waste of my precious time.” Miu scowled, turning around to leave.
“Wait, Miu! I’ll help you. Just trust me on this one, okay? Kaede’s very benign. I don’t see why she’d be upset, she’s one of the most accepting people I know.” Tenko sprung out of her bed.
“Fuck that! She’ll be grossed out as shit!” Miu turned around to face Tenko, walking away from the door.
“What makes you say that? Again, Kaede’s probably the least scary girl to have a crush on.” Tenko questioned, eyebrows furrowed.
Miu groaned. She really wishes that it was that easy for her. To just tell Kaede and to go on with her life. But, that simply was not in Miu Iruma’s character. Showing emotions was not her forte.
“She clearly likes that Poo-ichi idiot! Do you just not get it?” Miu frowned, fidgeting with her gloves.
Tenko’s eyebrows raised.
“You really think that? I’m pretty sure they’re friends, nothing more than that. She doesn’t seem interested in him.”
“Are you stupid? She clearly does!” Miu sighed.
“No, she doesn’t. They’re just friends. Have you really never had a friend before?” Tenko asked.
Shit. Was that really the case? Did Miu misinterpret the scenario? It was true that she never had friends, and wasn’t used to how friends acted. But did she miscalculate? No, the great Miu Iruma could never and would never make a mistake!
“None of your business!” Miu yelled.
“Okay, personal question, my bad! But seriously, they’re friends. You don’t need to worry about him, if that’s what you’re worried about.” Tenko attempted to reassure her, but to no avail.
“B-But she’ll hate my ass! Even if she does not like Poo-ichi, do you really think she’ll like me?” Miu stammered.
“I don’t know anything for a fact, but the only way you’ll figure it out is if you talk to her. No amount of speculation can determine what she’s thinking.”
Miu rolled her eyes, taking a seat in the chair in Tenko’s room. “Ya know, tell me somethin’. Like you said before, you’re dating Himiko. How did ya do that shit? Did it just fuckin’ happen?”
“It’s simple. I just told her how I felt!” Tenko smiled, Miu scowling at the blush that appeared on Tenko’s face after she spoke about her girlfriend.
Miu rolled her eyes. “That’s some real beta shit, seriously.”
“It’s not. You’re not going to get Kaede if you don’t say anything. That’s what I did! I just told Himiko how I felt, and here we are!” Tenko grinned.
“But, how did ya know it was going to work out?” The inventor asked.
“I didn’t, I just went for it! Sometimes you have to take risks to get what you want, Miu. You just have to go with what your heart thinks!”
Oh, wow. Miu knew that this bitch was cheesy, but this is beyond her comprehension. This was unbelievable. Scratch that, this was a new record for unbelievability.
“That’s cheesy as shit. Kaede’s going to say no! There’s no fuckin’ use! I just want to get her out of my head.” Miu groaned, lightly banging the side of her head for emphasis.
“Well, now it’s your turn to tell me something, Miu. Do you want to date her?”
Of course not.
Is what Miu wished she thought. But it wasn’t the first thought that came to her mind.
She would absolutely love to date Kaede, but Miu couldn’t even imagine the feeling being reciprocated.
Kaede was sweet and kind, and Miu knew she had no reason to love someone as bold and brash as Miu was. It wouldn’t make any sense for Kaede to love her.
“Miu! Earth to Miu?” Tenko’s hands waved in front of Miu’s face, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“Jesus, what? What do you want?” Miu asked harshly.
“Can you answer my question? Do you want to date Kaede? You zoned out there for a bit.”
“U-Um… No! Absolutely not. I’m not going to be seen with cowtits!” Miu stammered, hoping that Tenko did not notice her hesitation.
“You hesitated.” Tenko stated.
Shit.
“O-Okay! Fine, I want to date her! But what are ya going to fuckin’ do about it? I’ll die before I tell her anything!” Miu raised her voice, placing her hands on her hips.
“But I’m sure Kaede would appreciate it! I think she’d appreciate you just being honest with her, regardless. She’s very appreciative of when people show their feelings.” Tenko suggested.
“You shouldn’t be telling Miu Iruma what to do!”
“I can, when she’s asking for my help.”
Miu paused, and then threw her head back in frustration.
“Gah! I don’t get any of this shit! She doesn’t want me! I know that! I’m not a fuckin’ idiot!” Miu growled out.
“Well, you can’t be sure of it. You don’t actually know what Kaede feels and thinks. If you tell her, you’ll also feel so much better about it. But, I have an idea that will help!” Tenko’s face lit up.
“Oh, fuck. I bet your ideas fuckin’ suck. But whatever, spit it out. Let me get a good laugh at this shit!”
“I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that, but let’s make a deal! You go tell Kaede that you like her. If she likes you back, then you got yourself a girlfriend! But if she doesn’t feel the same way, you can get mad at me all you want.” Tenko smirked, clearly proud of her idea.
“I feel like there’s some sort of catch to this shit.” Miu raised her eyebrow. It was odd that Tenko didn’t have anything in it for herself, isn’t that what a deal is all about?
“Not really! I just need you to realize that you don’t have to sit around and sulk! There’s more to life than just bottling up your emotions and waiting for things to happen.” Tenko explained.
“Why can’t I just fuckin’ wait? If Kaede likes me, she can just go up to me!” Miu inquired. To her, it seems logical enough. Waiting for her to go up to Miu was a safer bet than Miu going up to Kaede herself.
“Listen, Miu. It’s not always that simple! Kaede might feel the same way as you do, and she might be afraid to say anything! Please give her a chance, Miu. She seriously won’t judge. I’ve never seen her judge anyone for anything.” Tenko commented.
There wasn’t a lie there. Kaede never judged anyone for anything. She had never seen Miu as less than because of her personality. Sure, she scolded her at times, but she never treated her as different or strange because of it.
“Ugh, you really think this shit will work?” Miu said, a twinge of worry coming from her voice.
Tenko nodded. “Yeah, it will! I think it will! Kaede’s very tame, she won’t do anything. The worst she could say is no. And even if she does, it won’t be the end of the world, Miu.”
“...Fine. But if this fails, I won’t let ya live it down! Ya got that? You’ll owe the whole world a huge ass apology!” Miu perked up, jumping out of Tenko’s chair.
“Yeah, yeah! I get it. Now go find her before it’s too late. I’m pretty sure she’s in her lab, that’s where she spends most of her time. But I’m sure you know that.” Tenko recalled.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this bullshit. But alright! See ya, Ten-bitch!” Miu smirked, running out of Tenko’s dorm.
“It’ll work out, Miu! I’m sure of it!” Tenko said as she shut the door, leaving Miu alone with her inner thoughts.
Suddenly, Miu had an impending sense of dread. Despite Tenko’s efforts, the inventor couldn’t help but feel anxious.
Kaede wasn’t intimidating at all. She was actually the exact opposite of intimidating. Miu knew that as well as anyone else, but she had no idea how Kaede would react at Miu having a big fat crush on her.
Despite her fears, she found herself subconsciously moving into the school building, heading towards the Ultimate Pianist’s Lab.
She wobbled with every step she took. Her body was shaking tremendously, and her hands were sweating furiously through her fingerless gloves.
Miu stood in front of the door, eyeing the piano design on it.
She could hear the melodies of Kaede’s piano from inside. It was faint, but audible.
Miu didn’t know classical works, but she knew it took talent to play whatever Kaede was playing. She could sit there and listen to it forever, but she would never admit it.
Miu shivered as she reached for the doorknob, stopping right as her fingers grazed over it.
Miu’s breathing quickened, her heart pounding.
Lightly smacking her cheek, she attempted to bring herself back to reality.
“Heh, if she doesn’t want the gorgeous girl genius, that’s on her! Yeah, just think about it that way! You’re real fuckin’ smart, hah!” Miu laughed, as an effort to relieve her feelings of anxiety.
But her attempts were not successful. In fact, she felt herself shake more as she inched closer to the door, her limbs beginning to feel heavy.
Just open the door. Just open it, it’s not that hard, right?
Gripping onto the doorknob tighter than she needed to, she slowly inched the door open.
As she slowly opened the door, she watched Kaede play. She looked so calm as she played her piano, a total contrast to Miu’s current state of shaking and sweating.
Kaede’s eyes were closed, engrossed in the music. She didn’t seem to notice Miu’s arrival.
Miu awkwardly stood by the door, quivering and fidgeting. She could wait until Kaede finished, it would help her stall for time anyways.
Moments passed, feeling like hours. Miu could feel Kaede’s relaxation radiate as she continued, she truly deserved the title of Ultimate Pianist.
And then, Kaede stopped playing, signaling the end of the song she had been playing. Her fingers unhurriedly left the keys, taking a deep breath.
Miu knew that she was definitely gawking at Kaede as she gained her composure after she performed to nobody in particular. Well, she had no idea that Miu was there.
So, Miu decided she’ll let Kaede know that she was there. That’s a start, right?
“Heh, seems like ya know your shit, Kaeidiot.” Miu smirked, hoping Kaede didn’t see right through her facade.
“Miu?! How long have you been standing there?” Kaede yelped with wide eyes, as if she was a deer caught in headlights.
“Meh, I just got here. Heard ya playin. Figured that I should stop by.” Miu lied.
Kaede got up, and her current expression of skepticism showed to Miu that she knew she was lying.
Miu’s breath hitched as Kaede got closer, standing right in front of her.
“I can tell that you’re lying, Miu. So, what did you come here for?” Kaede asked, with an innocent smile on her face.
“Dammit, I’m n-not lying!”
“You sure? You’re sweating and shaking. Is something bothering you, Miu?” Kaede asked, her face full of concern.
Miu groaned in frustration.
Maybe going here was a bad idea, Kaede was going to hate her after this. Maybe she shouldn’t have listened to Tenko. She has risky ideas anyway, Miu thought.
“U-Uh, nothing’s bothering me, cowtits! Coming here was a dumb idea anyway, I’m fuckin’ out of here.” Miu turned around to leave, but something physically stopped her.
Kaede. She gripped onto Miu, not allowing her to leave.
“Christ, Kaeidiot! Are ya clingin’ on to me or some shit? I didn’t know you were that into me, heh!” She laughed, but her face fell as she realized what she had actually said.
No, no, no, no! Kaede was for sure going to leave now. Miu could feel it.
“Y-You know, Kaeidiot, I really didn’t mean to say that shit, y-you know! I-I was totally joking around!” Miu panicked, squirming out of Kaede’s grip.
Turning around to face Kaede, she could see Kaede’s expression of utter confusion, but there was a hint of redness to her cheeks.
One of Kaede’s eyebrows raised. “What are you going on about? Why are you so nervous?”
“Just ignore what I said, okay? I’m leaving!” Miu’s face grew hot as she rushed for the door.
“Please don’t leave, Miu. It seems like you came here for a reason. You can tell me, I want to help you!” Kaede smiled. The smile that made Miu weak in the knees every time. The smile that she wanted to see every day of her life.
Miu was worried about how she’d see it fall if she told her how she felt about her. She knew Kaede could do way better than her, and she didn’t wanna lose the only person that wanted to spend time with her.
“Y-You wouldn’t want to fuckin’ hear it! It’s nothin’ important!” Miu hissed.
Kaede sighed, grabbing Miu’s hand and leading her to her piano bench. “Come on, sit down with me. I do want to listen to you. You clearly want to say something if you went out of your way to come here.”
Miu sighed as she sat down. “Y’know, Kaeidiot, You’re real fuckin’ frustrating at times.”
Sitting down next to her, Kaede laughed. “What makes you say that, Miu?”
“Y-You can just see right through me and shit. It’s fuckin’ crazy.” Miu rubbed the back of her neck, averting eye contact.
Kaede squeezed Miu’s gloved hand. “Well, it’s because I care about you! And I want you to know that, alright?”
Miu felt her vision get blurry with held back tears. “Y-You can’t be serious. That’s why you’re a Kaeidiot.”
“I am serious, Miu. I understand that you have a hard time realizing that though.”
“T-That’s really goddamn sappy, cowtits.” Miu muttered, wiping her eyes.
Kaede intertwined their fingers together, making Miu’s heart pound faster than before.
“If caring for you is sappy, then I’m fine with being sappy.”
“Agh… That makes you real fuckin’ pathetic then.” Miu spat out. She didn’t even mean to say it, yet it came out.
“Huh?” Kaede asked.
“You don’t get it, Kaeidiot! You don’t have any goddamn reason to be sympathetic towards me, I’m an asshole! And y-you’re, you! Stop worryin’ about me! I’m fine!” Miu yelled, hiding her face in her free hand.
Kaede frowned, her eyes filling with worry.
“You really think that, Miu?”
Miu refused to answer, looking down at the ground.
“Miu, look at me.” Kaede insisted, sternness dripping in her voice.
Miu stayed silent yet again. Noticing Miu’s behavior, Kaede grabbed Miu’s chin so she was facing her.
Miu tried to ignore how close Kaede’s face was to her, and how Miu could feel her breath on her face.
“A-Ah?” Miu yipped.
“You really think that about yourself, Miu?” Kaede asked, keeping a soft grip on Miu’s chin.
Miu’s eyes darted everywhere but Kaede’s eyes, attempting to come up with words in a panic. “N-No, of course not! I’m the gorgeous girl genius, I-I would never think that about myself, titless!”
“Alright. It’s okay, I get it. I won’t press you further to say anything, but just know that it’s okay to not be okay, alright? It’s important to me that you know that, Miu.” Kaede’s eyes softened, and the hand on Miu’s chin moved towards Miu’s cheek to caress her.
Miu didn’t know what to say. Kaede Akamatsu was currently caressing her cheek, inches away from her. She was also giving her the affection that nobody else had ever given her. This was something she’d never felt before, and she didn’t want to ruin it.
Miu’s eyes stayed wide open, watching how Kaede smiled at her. It was too good to be true, really. Way too good to be true. Maybe she was dreaming? She was not sure.
“A-Are ya just doin’ this because you feel bad for me? I’m a tough girl, I don’t fuckin’ need sympathy.” Miu growled, a few tears running down her face.
“Miu, I’m not doing this because I pity you!” Kaede emphasized, yet never raising her voice.
“T-Then why do you give a shit, Kaeidiot? Unless you pity me, I can’t fuckin’ see why you care so much about me, and want me to act nicer and shit!” Miu spluttered.
Miu didn’t miss how Kaede looked away, and how her face reddened.
Kaede hesitated. “You’re my friend. I care about you, it’s my job as your friend.”
There it was. The exact reason the inventor did not want to tell Kaede about her feelings. She merely sees her as a friend. She would get friend-zoned, and be wallowing in her own self pity.
“Y-Yeah, I get it. We’re friends and shit, whatever. I’m gonna just head back to my own lab now.” Miu growled, her heart aching.
Miu felt the guilt rise in her chest as she saw Kaede’s frown, but she felt as if leaving was the best thing she could do. For both her and Kaede’s sake, she didn’t want to ruin anything that the two of them had together.
“Miu…” Kaede muttered, watching as Miu got off the bench.
“L-Listen, Kaeidiot. I’m doing this for both of our sakes, you better be grateful!” Miu scowled, walking to the door.
“Our sakes?” Kaede jumped up after her, following her.
“Y-Ya know, so none of our hearts get broken! You fuckin’ get it? Don’t question me, Kaeidiot!” Miu barked, tears welling up in her eyes yet again.
“What the hell are you talking about, Miu?”
“W-What do you want from me, cowtits? Ya heard what I just said, didn’t ya?” Miu yelled.
“Yeah, I did. But I don’t understand what you mean by that. Why are you talking about hearts being broken, Miu? Specifically ours? Is there something going on with you? You’ve been acting weird this entire time.” Kaede asked. The amount of concern she had frustrated Miu to no end. She was consistent, and real fucking good at it as well.
Miu groaned. “Me? Acting weird? I-I’m acting perfectly fuckin’ normal, thank you very much! Why wouldn’t I not be normal right now?”
“Why don’t you ask yourself that, Miu?”
Miu was not exactly sure why, but the question made her feel like she had gotten hit by a bus. There was no way that Kaede was outsmarting her right now.
“G-God damn, you! Y-You can’t outsmart me!” Miu shuddered.
“I’m not trying to outsmart you, Miu. I know how smart you are, I wouldn’t dare to try to act like I’m smarter than you. What I want is for you to be honest with yourself.” Kaede explained. She sounded so genuine, it pissed Miu off. There’s no way in hell that Kaede wasn’t lying right now.
“T-There’s no way that you care so fuckin’ much about me, Kaeidiot! I know you’re lying to me right now! Y-You can’t lie to me! I know how this shit goes!” Miu cried out, tears fully running down her face.
Kaede nodded, as if she began to understand something. “So, nobody has told you that they care about you? Is that why you’re in denial about someone caring about you?”
“M-Maybe! You’ll never know!” Miu crossed her arms.
“Okay, I see what’s going on here. It’s alright, okay? You can trust me. I know you’re not used to it, but give me a chance, alright? I promise I won’t do anything to hurt you.” Kaede spoke, maintaining a calm composure.
“I-I just don’t get why you care so much. I-I’m so fuckin’ bitchy, Don’t you want to get away from me?” Miu fidgeted with the goggles on top of her head.
Kaede’s lips turned into a small smile. “It’s actually the complete opposite.”
“H-Huh? The hell do you mean, Kaeidiot?” Miu stuttered.
The pianist gripped both of Miu’s hands, and Miu could feel the coldness of Kaede’s fingertips on her own.
Miu’s eyes widened. She noticed how Kaede began to avert her gaze away from Miu, her eyes darting around the room.
“It’s… It’s because I love you, Miu.”
What?
Miu’s jaw was hung open, eyes wide, and face totally red.
Nobody has ever said those words to her. She doesn’t remember the last time that was said to her, and she couldn’t believe the person that said it to her was Kaede Akamatsu.
“Miu? I’m sorry if I got the wrong idea, I-”
“Y-You’re serious?” Miu breathed out, awestruck.
“Yeah.” Kaede said nothing more.
“Wow, Kaeidiot. S-Shit. Me? You love me? You’re screwed. Like, really goddamn screwed.” Miu stated, voice shaking.
“It’s okay if you don’t feel the same way. We can still be friends! I wouldn’t want our friendship to be ruined over my silly feelings, Miu.” Kaede’s eyes began to grow shiny, starting to well up with tears.
Miu didn’t know how to put it into words, so she did something she never expected she would ever do.
She leaned in. Kaede didn’t move away, and Miu couldn’t tell if she was imagining Kaede moving closer to her.
And then their lips met.
Miu was frozen in place as she attempted to kiss her, but Kaede guided her as she wrapped her arms around Miu’s shoulders and kissed her back.
Miu began to relax as Kaede continued to kiss her, wrapping her arms around Kaede’s waist.
Kaede’s lips moved smoothly against Miu’s, who was sloppily kissing her.
Miu could taste the cherry flavored chapstick that Kaede had on, reveling in the taste and feel of Kaede’s lips.
It was an ethereal feeling, even if Miu was inexperienced with kissing.
It took a few moments of kissing each other before they pulled apart from one another, catching their breath. Miu’s arms were still on Kaede’s waist, as hers were still around Miu’s shoulders.
Panting, Miu began to smile. It didn’t feel like one of her cocky smiles, but one that showed affection for the one that stood before her.
Kaede was smiling as well, and one of her hands reached up to caress Miu’s cheek yet again.
“That’s the smile I like to see, Miu. I’m proud of you.” Kaede spoke, voice full of adoration.
Hearing those words, tears flowed down Miu’s face yet again.
“Did I say something wrong, Miu? I’m sorry if I did.” Kaede’s hand wiped at the tears coming under Miu’s eye.
“N-No. It’s just that nobody has ever said that shit to me before.” Miu sniffled.
“I understand, Miu. I’ll make sure that I tell you that all the time, okay? You won’t be lonely anymore.” Kaede leaned her forehead against Miu’s, who watched her with glossy eyes.
“I-I just don’t get it. Why do you love me?” Miu frowned.
“Because you’re you, Miu.”
“But I’m such a bitch, Kaede. You could have anyone else, you could have anyone you fuckin’ wanted.” Miu sobbed, sniffling as she spoke.
“Well, I don’t want anyone else. I want you, Miu. And as for your brashness, we can work on it. I know you’re good at heart. You just have a hard time showing it, and I’ll help you with that.” Kaede explained, looking deep into Miu’s eyes.
Miu gripped Kaede’s body and pulled her in closer. “Y-You promise? You won’t leave me?” She asked, voice shaking.
“I won’t. I promise.” Kaede gave a soft smile, pressing a kiss to Miu’s forehead.
The two sat together in comfortable silence, wrapped up in each other’s embrace.
“Miu?”
“Y-Yeah?”
“Since we’ve kissed and all of that… would you like to be my girlfriend? I’m sorry if I misread anything, that’s on me, but-”
“Hah, of course! Anyone would want to be my girlfriend! Consider yourself lucky!” Miu smirked, blushing furiously.
“Wow, you recovered from that quickly. You don’t have to act confident to cover your feelings.” Kaede softly laughed, which was music to Miu’s ears.
“Jesus, you can read me like a fuckin’ book. But I’ll be your girlfriend. I want that too.” Miu explained, resting her head on Kaede’s shoulder.
Kaede pulled Miu close to her, kissing the crown of her head.
“Mmm… You’re such a mush, Kaeidiot.” Miu hummed, leaning in closer to Kaede.
“Haha, I’m fine with that.” Kaede grinned.
There was a pause, until Kaede broke the silence.
“So, Miu. Before, you definitely came here for a reason. What exactly was that? It just occurred to me now that you never told me.” Kaede explained, keeping her arms wrapped around Miu.
Miu forced a laugh out. “S-So about that… You already did it for me, Kaeidiot. So thank you for putting me out of my misery.”
Kaede’s head tilted slightly, which Miu secretly found adorable. “What are you talking about?”
Miu’s voice was muffled due to Kaede’s embrace. “Well…. I came here because I wanted to tell ya how I felt. That’s why I was shakin’ like a fuckin’ rabbit.”
Miu looked up to see Kaede’s blushing face staring right back at her.
“You were? That was the whole reason that you came here?” Kaede inquired.
Miu reluctantly nodded, feeling her face heat up in embarrassment.
Kaede gave her a big smile and held her closer.
“Aw, that’s so cute, Miu! I should’ve known, you did seem very nervous.”
“I-I wasn’t nervous! Heh, Miu Iruma never would-”
Then Kaede kissed her again, cutting her sentence off. It was quicker than the first kiss they had shared, but Miu could still feel Kaede’s love radiating from it.
“I know, Miu.” Was all she said.
Being loved was a weird feeling. It was strange, it was totally foreign to Miu. Nobody has ever treated her like this before. Based on how Kaede’s eyes continued to lovingly stare into Miu’s, she felt like it was a dream. But it wasn’t. It was reality, and it was shocking.
“K-Kaeidiot?” Miu stuttered out.
“Yeah, Miu?”
“A-About you loving me, I just wanted to say that I… I love you too.” Miu’s face flushed. She never said that to someone before, and especially not to someone as special as Kaede Akamatsu.
Kaede beamed, a twinkle in her eyes. “I’m really glad, Miu.” She paused, presumably thinking of what to say next. “Thank you for opening up to me and trusting me. I’m really glad you gave me a chance. I promise I’ll treat you right.”
“Y-Yeah. Don’t mention it.” Miu hid her face in Kaede’s arms, causing a soft giggle from the other girl. God, it was a beautiful sound. She couldn’t get enough of it.
They stood for a few minutes in silence, Miu held close to Kaede.
“Hey, Miu? I’ve got an idea!” Kaede spoke up.
Miu’s eyebrows raised. “What’s up?”
“Do you want to listen to me play a song? I’m in a really good mood right now, and usually when I’m in a good mood I gotta play!” Kaede explained, and Miu for sure could feel the happiness radiating from her.
“Eh, sure. Why the hell not.” Miu tried not to make a big deal out of it, but she knew it was. Listening to any piano piece played by the Ultimate Pianist was an honor, especially a piece played in front of Miu, and only Miu.
“Alright! I’m gonna play Clair de Lune by Debussy! It’s a soft, soothing song. It’ll calm your heart.” Kaede explained, smile prevalent.
“Hah, Debussy. Like pussy.”
Kaede let out a playful sigh. “I knew you’d say that.”
And with that, Kaede adjusted her position so she could play. She still allowed Miu to cling onto her, with her head on her shoulder and arms around her waist.
The both of them closed their eyes, and let the melody of the song take over.
Tenko was returning from a small date she had with Himiko, eating some lunch together in the dining hall.
She decided that while she was in the school building, she wanted to make a particular visit.
Someone she had helped earlier on in the day, Miu Iruma.
Tenko pondered if Miu actually went through with the idea of talking to Kaede like she had said, and she wouldn’t be shocked if Miu chickened out of it. Tenko did have a bit of faith in her though, as she could tell that Miu really liked Kaede.
So she went to the Ultimate Pianist’s Lab to find out for herself, to answer those unanswered questions.
Heading upstairs from the first floor, she could hear a faint melody presumably coming from Kaede’s lab. It was a soft yet bittersweet song. Kaede was definitely in there, she wondered if Miu was in there alongside Kaede.
Slightly opening the door, Tenko was relieved at the sight that she saw.
Not only was Kaede in there, but Miu as well. Kaede was playing her piano, and Miu was holding onto her as she played her melody. They were both relaxed, seeming comfortable in eachother’s warmth.
Carefully shutting the door and leaving the area, Tenko smiled to herself.
She always had the best ideas.
