Alhaitham sits obediently at the side with his hands on his lap, waiting for some kind of order. Request. Anything, really, as long as it’s from Kaveh. When a few minutes pass by and he gets nothing, he clears his throat and says, “Well, um…”
“What?”
“How did I do?”
Kaveh ponders for a moment, looking up at the ceiling as if he were asked to answer 1 + 1. Alhaitham should be offended. Kaveh is mocking him, surely, but alas, cupid has made him an entire fool who could do nothing but simply adore him.
“How did you do,” Kaveh begins, scratching his chin, “that, I wonder about as well.” He pushes himself up to sit on the bed, back against the pillows. Alhaitham’s eager eyes follow his every move, waiting for that single praise.
It doesn’t come.
