Day 11: Future

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Scrolling through her notebook, Miorine looks over her monthly sales reports and tries to visualize the data spread for their upcoming monthly projections.

GUND-ARM has grown tremendously over the past decade, and GUND technology was finally being used for something besides mobile suits. The publics' opinion of GUND technology and witches was finally changing for the better, but business still remained the same. Sales and losses were still big priorities, even when creating life-saving technology.

Numbers bleed together on her screen and Miorine shuts her eyes. Massaging them, Miorine tries to stay focused over the late hour. The clock on the wall displays 20:40 and Miorine knows that she should be turning in for the night. Bad habits die hard though, and she wants to go over the numbers herself before projections start tomorrow.

Rubbing her wedding ring, Miorine gets distracted by the golden band. Small intricacies decorate the length, and Miorine feels calmer when she feels the inner grooves rub against her skin: her and Suletta's wedding date.

Perhaps she gets too lost in thought, because the knocking on her office door causes her to yelp in surprise. The knocking pauses before continuing again—clearly they heard her.

Face flushed, Miorine assumes her assistant must have forgotten something. But wait, hadn't she sent her home alrea—

Without even waiting for a response, the door opens and curious turquoise eyes peek in.

"Miorine?"

All the stress from the day melts away, and Miorine sighs as she falls back into her chair.

"Hi, Suletta."

Kicking the door close with her heel, Suletta juggles two takeout containers in her hands as she walks over.

"I was guessing you'd be here." Placing the food down, Suletta walks around the desk and gives Miorine a kiss.

Miorine melts into it, and groans as she finally remembers what she was doing.

"You're still looking over the sales?" Suletta asks, looking over her shoulder. Suletta's hand rests on her shoulders, and she could almost cry when she starts to massage them.

"Yes, but it shouldn't be too long now."

"Isn't the accounting team going to go over this in the morning?" Suletta asks.

Miorine ignores that and reaches over to grab a container—greasy deliciousness just out of reach.

Suletta grabs the packaging and holds it over her, giving her an unamused look.

Miorine maintains eye contact for a few seconds before giving up. Letting out a sigh, she begins to logout from all of her computers as Suletta hums in appreciation.

"I know, I know. Can't keep overworking myself like this," Miorine says.

"And if you need help, I'm here for that," Suletta chirps back.

Miorine watches Suletta open all the containers over her computer shutting down.

Short hair really suited her, and by the way Suletta kept scratching her neck, she was still getting used to the length herself.

"Looking at something?" Suletta asks, a lid held in her hand as food steam wafts into her office.

Feeling a little mischievous, Miorine simply says, "Just my stunning wife."

Suletta sputters at the compliment, and Miorine uses the opportunity to finally steal a dumpling.

Notes:

Sunrise, I swear, you better give these two a happy ending.
