Work Text:
It was a quiet breezy day, still lunchtime but most students had already left the school rooftop because it was getting too hot, the sun was right above their head with almost nothing to shelter them from its glaring heat. Luckily, these two occupied the only shades on the roof.
Toya was sitting, back at the wall and straightening his feet, a book was in his hand. While Akito lay down, head resting on Toya’s laps. He obviously wouldn’t do this while people were still around, this was just one of the rare occasions where it felt like the world only belonged to them.
The wind swayed his hair and the air was warm. Akito felt his eyelids getting heavy. Toya noticed that and placed one of his hands on top of Akito's head, stroking it softly. "Akito, don't sleep."
"I know, I know," he replied. The first stroke did wake him up but after that it felt comforting as if it lulled him back to sleep. But nope, Akito blinked rapidly, he couldn’t take a nap now, the bell was gonna ring anytime soon.
So he glanced upward, looking at the other guy's face. Pale skin with tints of red from the heat of the summer. Eyes were scanning the book he propped at one hand, expression was serious as always. Mouth pouted slightly (there something upsetting from the book probably), it was small and the lips were red...
Ok, the heat was doing something to his mind. He was trying to change his focus, but those lips, Toya’s lips, it was so-
Oh. He then remembered a certain thing.
Out of reflex, he reached out the taller guy’s face with his hand, cupped his cheek and stroked his thumb at the corner of Toya's lips, the left one to be exact. The gesture of course startled Toya. He gave Akito a confused look.
Then Akito asked, "Does it hurt?" Toya tilted his head 'huh?' "That time." His eyes widen 'oh'
The memory of that time flashed in his mind. That night at the back stage, he told Akito he won't sing with him anymore. And Akito, out of rage, out of frustration, grabbed on his collar and punched him. Toya was doing nothing in return and just telling Akito to let him go.
Toya closed his book, had already memorized the last page number, placed it down and muttered "Yes, it does hurt."
Akito flinched slightly, yeah obviously it hurts. He was not the best at controlling his own emotions. When rage takes over him, his body acts before his mind does. This was what dragged him into some fights, into some separation. No one could stand him after he showed this side of him.
No one until Toya. He stayed.
"I'm sorry."
When Akito was about to let him go, Toya placed his hand on top of his, keeping it on his cheek. Then he noticed Toya was smiling at him.
"But I'm glad," he began, "Remember when I said you always make me experience many things for the first time? That was one of them."
With bewildered looks on Akito, he continued "I've never had a wound in all my life. My mom was extra careful with me, she wouldn’t let me do sports nor do outdoor activities. My dad paid close attention to my physical condition, he always pushed me to do piano and violin practices but after that he would massage my fingers and let me recovered. That was all but this," Toya squeezed Akito's hand on his cheek, "was the first time I had a bruise."
"After that, I went home and checked it on the mirror. It reddened and later it turned into blue. It was something I saw on Tsukasa-senpai back when we were young. He has always been a very active and lively person. He fell, slipped, knocked on things. He experienced all that and was proud of his scars. Even Saki-san was quite clumsy and one time knocked her head on the railing then she laughed it off."
"Having a bruise makes me feel alive. Because it is normal that people make mistakes and get into accidents." He smiles brighter. He reminisced about his wound but he was smiling. "It made me think, if I stay with you, I'll keep feeling something new like this. Experience something I never had back when I was little. So, yes, the punch was hurt, but wasn't as hurt as separated from you"
His eyes sullen. Akito knew the feeling, it hurt so much that he thought he couldn't bear it anymore. It hurt both of them until An, Kohane, Ken-san, and Miku helped them. They let them finally speak up and confessed each other's true feelings.
Akito wriggled his hand out of Toya's grasp. Then his arm reached for Toya's neck, hooked it down while he sat up, and gave Toya an apologetic kiss on where the wound was.
"Then never ever think to leave me again, 'kay?" He looked into his partner's silver eyes, and Toya softly shook his head.
"I won't."
Now Akito was fully sitting up, he raised his arms up and stretched. The wind was still breezy and the sun was still warm but he felt more awake now. The bell probably will ring in five minutes, they gotta hurry back to their own classroom.
But before Akito got up onto his feet, something grabbed his sleeve and when he turned around Toya's face was red, definitely not from the weather.
"Can we kiss more?"
They probably needed to run all the way back to their classroom later.
