Summary
Daryl groaned as he sat up, scrubbing a hand over his cheek. His hair was flat on one side and sticking up wildly in the other, but she knew he wouldn’t care even if she told him.
“Good mornin’," she said quietly, still wrapped up in her blanket. He glanced at her and cracked a sleepy smile, similar to her own. “...What?”
His smile grew slightly and he gestured to her hair.
“You’re one to talk," she muttered, glancing pointedly up at his rat’s nest. He ran a lazy hand through his hair, which helped but didn’t quite get rid of his bedhead.
She reached a hand out of her blanket to fix it for him. He froze, but after a moment, lowered his head forward to let her do as she pleased. His eyes fluttered closed as she ran her fingers through his fringe and smoothed it down.
He drew the line when she pulled a hair tie off her wrist, jumping up before she could even try to put it in his hair. “Oh, come on,” Sadie whined, but didn’t move to follow him. She was too comfortable.
“In your dreams, sweetness," Daryl scoffed. Sadie’s heart soared and her smile widened at the pet name.
“Bet you’d look cute with a pigtail," she teased, chuckling as he kicked the back of her chair.
