Notes:

This is my first Huntlow fanfic, and I have not watched much of The Owl House. So I will take well to constructive criticism. I hope you like it.

Work Text:

Willow had been on a trip to see her parents for an entire month and she still hadn’t come back.

Everyone had been doing school and paying next to know attention to her absence. Hunter couldn’t understand why or even how they could act so natural about it. He couldn’t understand how they seemed to barely notice her truancy.

He couldn’t barely think of anything, but that. He understood how much her family meant to her and didn’t dislike the fact that she wanted to see them again. He would never keep her from being happy seeing her family again, but he couldn’t wait to see her again. He missed her.

Of course, whenever someone would ask him, he would try to casually deny it. But he internally knew he missed her.

School wasn’t all that, but he’d attempt to use it as a distraction, not that it worked.

Everything he saw reminded him of her.

The green curtains reminded him of her beautiful emerald eyes. Her brilliant, beautifully green eyes. He could gaze into those eyes forever if he could. But then again, if he even thought about trying someone would obviously notice and things would be incredibly awkward. He could only wish.

He wished he could hug her tightly and never let go. He hated himself for it, but his wish expanded even to kissing those cute lips of hers.

These thoughts, wishes, feelings were still a mystery of why he thought, wished, and felt this when he thought of Willow. He just did.

Right now, he just hoped he would see her again soon. It didn’t matter that he couldn’t do the things he wished to, it would feel amazing just to see those brilliant eyes on that beautiful face with that wonderful smile and hear that adorable voice giggling and talking to him.

Just then, a buzzing kicked him out of his thoughts. He nearly jumped in response and bumbled with his phone before managing to hold a steady grip.  He read the top of the screen of the ongoing video call.

Willow.

He smiled excitedly and tapped accept

“Hi, Hunter!! I just wanted to call and see how everyone’s doing.” Willow’s sweet voice enthusiastically requested.

Hunter nodded, glad to hear from her again… for a moment he forgot what she’d asked. “Oh! Uh.. Good!! Everyone’s doing good.”

“Great! I wouldn’t have bothered you with the call, but Luz, Amity, and Gus aren’t picking up. I guess they’re busy.” Willow joked, lightly giggling.

“You’re not bothering me! I- I’m happy that you called me.” Hunter stuttered with a nervous grin.

Willow giggled a lot more, “I was just joking, Hunter. You don’t need to take it seriously.”

“Oh, right.” Hunter blushed. “H- How’s your trip, Captain?”

“It’s great! But I miss you guys. I’ll be heading back soon. I can’t wait to see you!! Do you know what’s occupying the others?” Willow asked.

Hunter shook his head, “No, but if I find out I’ll be sure to tell you. I- I miss you, too.”

“Thanks, Hunter. It’s great to see you!!” Willow smiled as a blush crept up her cheeks.

“Yeah- uh.. Same!”

“Anyway, tell the others hi for me, okay? I gotta go.” Willow informed.

Hunter agreed, “Okay. Good luck!”

“Thanks. Bye!”

“Yeah- you-you’re welcome, bye!!”

The next moment, they hung up, sighing happily.

Notes:

Tell me what you think. I admit I barely know what I'm doing.
