Work Text:

“Why do you always do this shit?! You know my schedule never changes, it’s the same every fucking week!”

Izuku sighed deeply as the thin walls did nothing to hide the argument in the apartment next door. He glanced up from his computer, running a hand down his face as he glanced at the time. 8:43 pm. This was your third argument in the last couple of hours. He honestly had no idea how you two managed to find something to argue about every hour.

“You’re joking, right? You’ve been staying later every day now. I know your schedule and you’re supposed to be home around 5 pm. You didn’t get home until almost 7 pm today, so excuse me for worrying about you!”

“I don’t need your worry. Stop bothering me and just focus on doing your own thing, like cleaning this fucking house. It’s a mess in here. What did you even do all day?” Izuku frowned deeply at that, knowing you had spent the entire day cleaning. He could smell the cleaner through the walls and have seen you going in and out with a bunch of garbage bags. Knowing your arguments tended to get a little out of hand, he shut his laptop and moved to leave the apartment, leaning against his door as he listened.

“Just get out, go stay with your friend or something, and come home whenever you get your head out of your fucking ass!”

“Maybe I will! It’d be a hell of a lot better than staying here with you!” Izuku flinched as the door suddenly swung open, the tall blonde man barely sparing him a glance as he stormed out. He watched him stalk down the hall and disappear down the stairs. He waited a few minutes before he moved towards the apartment and knocked on the door. There were a few colourful curses within the apartment before the door swung open.

“Daisuke I swear to god if you-- oh, Midoriya, it's you. What are you doing here?” you asked, smoothing down your hair.

“How many times do I have to tell you that you can call me Izuku?” he chuckled softly, leaning against the doorframe. You let out a bashful smile and shrugged, looking off to the side as you leaned against the opposing door frame.

“It just feels weird since you and I don’t talk all that much. I mean, in the last month, we’ve only spoken maybe three times.” you hummed before straightening up. “Come in,” you offered and stepped aside. Izuku followed you into the apartment and looked around. It still looked the same as the last time he was here. He also noticed there wasn’t a single mess to be seen. “Can I get you anything? Coffee? tea? “ You asked, glancing over your shoulder as you walked into the kitchen.

“Whatever is fine, I’m not picky.” Izuku hummed, taking a seat on the couch and sighing softly. “How have you been lately?” he asked as he looked towards you. Your hand paused as you reached for a mug, a frown sliding onto your face, but when you met Izuku’s eyes, you smiled, though it didn’t look genuine.

“Keeping busy like usual. The office has been crazy full this week, I haven’t had a moment to breathe while on the clock.” you laughed, setting the kettle and placing tea into strainers within the mugs. “I’ve helped more dogs in the last three days than I ever have in my life.” you chuckled, leaning against the counter.

“I heard you finally got approval for your own vet office?” Izuku cut in, feeling his chest flutter when a genuine, bright grin spread across your face.

“Yeah! I did actually! I signed the papers two days ago, now I’m just waiting to hear back from my agent about the property I’m buying. Just gotta get that settled out and then I can get started properly on spreading my business!” you laughed excitedly, eyes glittering in the late evening light.

“Well, I help a lot of animals in my work, but I don’t do what you do. So if I ever help an animal in the area, I’ll be sure to take them to you.” Izuku hummed with a playful little smile. He couldn’t stop the feeling of pride as a blush spread across your face.

“I’ll be sure to always keep a spot open for you Number One,” you chuckled softly, turning when the kettle started screaming and getting the tea ready. You returned to the living room a moment later with a tray of all the additives. Izuku took the mug offered to him and added cream and sugar, sipping at it as he regarded you silently. After a few moments, he finally spoke up.

“You don’t have to stay with him you know..?” he started carefully, watching you tense up. You were quiet for a while before sighing heavily and setting your mug down, hands clasping together. If Izuku looked close enough, he could see a slight tremble in them, fingers turning white from the grip on each other.

“I have to… He’s my husband, he does me good and--”

“Bullshit.” Izuku spat, surprised at the hatred bleeding into his voice. “The only thing he ever does for you is cause stress and fear. You are not obligated to stay. And I’m not saying this as Deku, the Number One Hero. I’m saying this as Izuku, your neighbour and friend.” Izuku growled, anger rising in his chest. He did his best to tamp it down, not wanting to scare you.

“What do you know?” Izuku blinked at the defensive tone you had taken on, your face morphed into anger. “You don’t see shit, what could you possibly know anything about us?”

“Because I see you .”

----------

Izuku jolted awake at the loud banging coming from his front door, shooting out of bed, green lightening dancing across his body as he zipped to the door. He swung it open and felt his quirk blaze at the sight of you, tears streaming down your face and looking frightened and worried.

“M-Midoriya!” you sobbed, stumbling forward from the sudden opening of the door. He caught you before you could fall, holding you to his chest as he looked around for any signs of danger.

“What’s going on?” he asked, not seeing anything after you.

“H-He hasn’t come home, it’s been two days and he hasn’t answered any of my recent texts, he turned his location off on his phone and I don’t know where he is.” you hiccuped, leaning against him heavily as you tried to calm down. He helped you onto your feet and guided you into his apartment, his quirk fizzling out now that he knew there was no immediate danger. He set you on his couch and moved to kneel in front of you, taking your hands and pulling your focus to himself.

“Alright, where was his last location?” he asked. He watched you pull out your phone to Daisuke’s contact and go into his location. The last time it was on, he was only a couple of blocks away. It also looked like he had frequented that area in the last week. He hummed softly and reached for the phone, waiting for you to give him permission to take it before he went into the texts.

Izuku frowned deeply at the messages, his anger slowly starting to rise and boil. He also checked the call log and saw that you had called well over 50 times in the last few days, all of them unanswered. He slowly looked up at you and chewed at his lip as he debated telling you what he knew. You were watching him quietly, leg bouncing against his knee from where he kneeled.

“___, I hate to tell you this but--”

“Don’t.” you cut him off, closing your eyes. “Don’t say it, please don’t say it… he’s not cheating on me, he’s not.” you whimpered, taking a shaky breath.

“I wasn’t. I was going to say you need to stop stressing yourself out. He’s obviously safe, but you’re not. You’re going to hurt yourself being this stressed out.” he said, setting your phone behind him and taking your hands again. He rubbed his thumbs along your knuckles, feeling the tremor in them. “Listen to me ___. You need to file for a divorce. He’s not a safe man to be with. He’s not a good person…” he said slowly, making sure you heard him clearly. “He’s hurt you in ways no one should ever be hurt. And please don’t deny it because I hear it. I see it…” he murmured, hands moving to brush against your arms. “It’s time to take that step and leave…”

“But I can’t… I don’t want to do that alone…”

“Who said you’d be alone? I’m right here.”

--------

“What the hell do you mean you want a divorce?!” Daisuke’s voice was grating against Izuku’s ears as he leaned against the wall, watching you and your, hopefully soon to be ex, husband argue in the middle of the apartment hallway. Daisuke had shown up later in the morning, not even bothering to express remorse. Izuku had helped you change the locks sometime early that morning, having run to the store to get some. So when he heard Daisuke’s angry shouting and banging on the door, he knew he would be in for a world of entertainment. He didn’t leave his own apartment until he heard you open the door, and that's when the yelling match started. Daisuke was pissed the locks had been changed and when you told him why and the means for divorce, he had blown up. He oddly reminded Izuku of Katsuki. Explosive, always angry, ready to fight at any given moment. It was uncanny.

“You heard me loud and clear Daisuke. I’ve already contacted my lawyer. He’s gathering the papers now and will be sending them to me tonight. I expect you to sign them.” you said, arms crossed over your chest in defiance. Daisuke tried to get past you into the open door of your apartment, but you quickly stepped in front of him, standing your ground.

“Move. Before I make you.” Daiksuke growled, his hand lifting, it was crackling with a purple mist, his quirk. But before he could even touch you, an undulating black tendril wrapped around his wrist, forcing his hand away, which in turn caused him to get pulled away from you. He met the blazing green eyes of Izuku, fear settling into his chest as the number one hero glared steadily at him.

“Try it Daisuke,” Izuku said softly, grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer as he lowered his voice. “I dare you.” ice crawled down Daisuke’s spine before he forced himself away from the hero, Izuku easily letting him go.

“What the fuck ever, I’ll sign the stupid papers.” he snarled, straightening out his jacket. “Good fucking riddance.” he tossed over his shoulder as he stormed away. Izuku watched him leave with smug satisfaction, a smirk dancing across his lips. He turned his attention to you when you let out a weary sigh, sounding like you had aged 10 years in a second.

“What now?” you asked, voice tired. You were leaning against the doorframe, looking as if you had just encountered the most exhausting thing in the world. Izuku didn’t really see it as anything else, to be honest.

“You start over.”

-------

“I don’t know Izuku…” Izuku’s heart did a little flutter at the sound of his name, just like it always did. It had been three months since you had finalized the divorce with Daisuke. As per the agreement, you two would split everything, but you got to keep the apartment. Izuku had offered his own place for you to stay if Daiksuke had chosen to take the apartment, but he had willingly given it up without a fight, as he did with most everything you two owned. “This just feels weird…”

“Hey, if you don’t want to call it a date, that’s fine, we can just say we’re hanging out.” he soothed, reaching and running his hand along your arm. He had tried to keep his attraction to you on the down low, out of respect for your recent status of being single, but you were the most observant person he knew. Within weeks of the official divorce, you had called him out for always being around and asked if he had a crush on you or something. When he couldn’t do anything but sputter and blush as a response it had shifted your relationship with him. He had told you he would respect your new relationship status and give you time to process and heal, but you had been the one to shock him. A week ago, he had been complaining about not being able to go to a new diner nearby due to his work schedule and how he didn’t want to go alone. You had nearly given him a heart attack when you practically forced him to schedule a day off so the two of you could go, and then proceeded to call it a date. But now that the day had come, he could tell you were getting cold feet and second-guessing your actions.

“I mean… I want it to be a date, but do you think it’s too soon? I mean, it’s only been three months, and everyone in the neighbourhood knows what happened between me and Daisuke, they’re going to start thinking I was cheating on him with you and he found out so that’s why we divorced and--”

“Hey! Whoa, okay slow down there Bubba.” he noticed the cute little blush that danced across your cheeks at the pet name. “Everyone also knows how badly he treated you. I talk to a lot of people in the neighbourhood and I can’t tell you how many times people have expressed their concern to me about you two since I’m your neighbour, your friend and the number one hero. So no one’s going to think that. If anything, they’ll be happy you finally kicked his ass to the curb.” he chuckled, taking your hand in his.

“See you say that, but unless I see it for myself, I’m not going to believe it,” you murmured, watching your hand in his. He lifted it to his mouth and pressed his lips against your knuckles, voice going soft.

“We’re okay.”

------

“Wait seriously? Please tell me you’re joking!” you laughed, voice slightly cutting out over the phone.

“No, I’m not joking, he really did turn into a rabbit. It was the funniest thing ever. Unfortunately, it only lasted a few minutes but it definitely was enough time for word to spread that the mighty Hero Dynamight was turned into a little bunny.” Izuku laughed, glancing at the time.

“I hope you got pictures. Use them as blackmail. Post them everywhere for the media to snatch and use.” there was movement on your end of the phone call, the sound of your bed shifting around under you.

“Okay, it’s funny but I don’t have a death wish” he snorted in response. “Katsuki would legitimately skin me alive if I did that.”

“He’d have to catch you first.” you teased, causing him to laugh again. He hummed softly as your laughter died down, a comfortable silence settling between you two. He pulled his phone away from his ear when he felt it vibrate, receiving a text from Katsuki telling him to ‘get the fuck to bed’. His eyes almost bulged out of his head when he saw the time and the duration of the call. 5:06:32 and it was currently 2:52 am

“As much as I would love to continue this phone call, I do have to go to bed. It’s really late and we set out for our next rendezvous point in the early morning.” he hummed softly. He could hear the disappointment in your tiny little ‘oh’. “Hey now, I’ll be back home to annoy you soon, you just gotta be patient Bubba,” he murmured, eyes closing as he envisioned you laying beside him.

“I know, I just.. Need you to be safe. I can’t lose you,” you murmured in response, anxiety clear in your voice.

“You’re not going to lose me. I have a reason to stick around and that reason is you..” he said, voice becoming a little firmer to prove his point. “Get some rest okay?” he hummed in the following silence.

“Okay.. goodnight Izuku.”

“Goodnight Bubba.”

-------

“I love you.”

“W-What did you say?” your eyes were wide as you stared at him, cheeks a dark red.

“I know you heard me,” Izuku murmured as he moved closer to you. You stood in his kitchen, making breakfast for the two of you, spatula held frozen above the pan of bacon. “I’m not denying it anymore. In the last year and a half, we’ve been getting closer and my feelings for you have just gotten stronger.” with every few words he continued to take steps closer to you, causing you to back up into the counter. He used Blackwhip to turn the stove off, taking the spatula and tossing it onto the counter beside you.

“Izuku… what are you doing?” you asked nervously, but you didn’t stop him when he crowded into your space, hands resting on the counter on either side of you to cage you in.

“Showing you what I mean,” he whispered before resting his hand on your cheek, tilting your head toward him. He leaned forward slowly, giving you enough time to pull away if you chose to. At the last second, he stopped, lips barely touching yours as his gaze locked with your own. “Tell me to stop,” he whispered, feeling the shiver that went through you at the feeling of his breath on your lips, eyes glazing over slightly. When you said nothing, he surged forward, taking that leap, lips pressing to yours roughly. A tiny whimper left you at the feeling, your body tensing against his as he kissed you. He kept his movements slow, letting you adjust to the feel of him, fingers gripping at your hip and jaw respectively. He nearly sobbed when you finally responded, lips moving slowly with his. He had never felt anything like this, these warm explosions in his belly, the way his heart stuttered and pounded loudly in his chest, his whole body alight with passion. He felt your own hands slide around his chest to rest across his shoulders, fingers playing with the hair at the base of his neck. He grunted softly when you gave them a little tug, his body pressing you further into the counter. His lungs started to scream from the lack of oxygen, but he ignored it, not wanting to break this moment, this feeling. He slid both hands to rest on your hips, gripping them and lifting you to sit on the counter. He settled himself between your legs, chest pressed to yours as you held him close.

Eventually, you were the one to pull away first, panting heavily as you dropped your head onto his shoulder. His own breathing was laboured, eyes closed as he breathed in the scent of your body wash. You were trembling slightly, his shoulder getting wet from your tears.

“I-I’m sorry, I don’t mean to cry... That was just so… different. I’ve never felt that way kissing someone before.” you admitted, sitting up. He gently wiped the tears from your cheeks, smiling as he kissed you again, keeping it short and sweet.

“Neither have I.” he readily admitted, resting his forehead against yours. “And it’s okay if you can’t say it back yet, I understand.” he hummed softly.

“I want to. I really do. I’m just… not ready to yet.”

“It’s okay because regardless, I love you.”

-------

“Three, two, one!” Everyone cheered when the ribbon was cut, confetti shooting out of handheld cannons.

“Welcome to the new Storm Surge Veterinarian!” you yelled out over the small crowd of your and Izuku’s friends and families, unlocking the doors and stepping in. The place was small and quaint, but large enough for a decent amount of people to come in and get help with their animals. Thankfully, you had already hired techs and receptionists, and their offices were already set up and ready to go. Izuku walked up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist, tucking himself against your back.

"You did it… you finally did it…" he murmured as he pressed a gentle kiss against your cheek. You leaned into his chest with a giant grin on your face.

"I couldn't have done it without you Zuku.." you hummed quietly, giggling as he gave you a gentle squeeze.

" You did it."

------

"I need a vet!! Quick! Please!!"

The oddly familiar voice made your back straighten from within the examination room you were currently in, confusion sweeping across your expression as you tried to place it, knowing you knew that voice, but having not heard it in so long.

"Sir, I need you to calm down and explain what happened." Your receptionist said calmly. You were quick to apologize to your tech and step out of the room to see what the commotion was.

Daisuke stood in the middle of the waiting area, carrying a bloody mess of a dog in his arms, blood dripping onto the floor at his feet. When he caught sight of you, his entire worried expression shifted into one of annoyance and anger.

"If I had known this was your vet office, I would have gone elsewhere. But whatever, this dog needs help." He grumbled out, moving towards you. Shoving past you, he was quick to find his own examination room and set the dog on the table, glaring down at his bloody clothes. You scrambled after him, grabbing your phone and sending a quick SOS to Izuku. Once in the room, you grabbed some gloves and slipped them on.

"Tell me what happened, Daisuke." You said firmly, all business.

"Fucking mutt ran out in front of me and I didn't have time to stop." He said shortly, sitting on a chair in the corner of the room. You gently began to look over the dog, checking to see where and how deep any wounds were. From what you could see, the dog had a pretty deep gash on the shoulder, bleeding steadily. Upon further examination, you also discovered she was female and that her back left leg was completely shattered from the knee down.

"She's going to need a complete leg amputation to prevent any future injuries." You said simply, knowing the leg was beyond saving. Your tech walked in and started preparing an IV. "We'll get a full view of everything once x-rays are taken. Other than that, she'll need treatment for a few months and she should make a full recovery if all tests come back clear." You explained, looking at Daisuke. He shrugged and leaned further against the wall, looking like he could care less.

"Do whatever you want ___. It's not my dog." He said, not wanting to meet your eyes. You rolled your eyes, sharing a look with your tech before grabbing the scanner and checking to see if she had a microchip. A number popped up, so you moved to leave the room. "Bring her to the OR, I'll be there shortly, I just have to prep." You said, discarding your gloves. "Daisuke, with me." You said. The man froze at the firmness in your voice before scrambling after you. You couldn’t stop the slight sense of satisfaction at having him follow your orders for once. You lead him back to the receptionist and set down the scanner in front of her. "Hana will help you with paperwork and deciding what to do from here. Hana, there's a microchip so call the owners and figure out what they want to do with their dog. I'm going into surgery." You said before turning on your heel and heading towards the OR.

----

Four hours went by agonizingly slow as you worked to remove the leg and stitch her shoulder up. The x-rays had come back pretty clear, confirming that she had a severely shattered leg and minor fractures in the femur. Thankfully, her spine was totally fine and you didn't see any signs of internal bleeding. By the time you were finished, and blood had been taken for tests, the dog was recovering in the kennel, snoozing away the anesthesia. You checked her over one last time and scribbled on her chart, smiling when you saw that her blood work had come back clear. It was only then that shouting could be heard from the waiting area. Worry crept across your expression as you moved, recognizing the angry voice of Daisuke and the annoyed voice of Izuku.

"I have every right to be here just as you do!" Daisuke shouted as you stepped out into the room. He was standing toe to toe with Izuku, face red with anger, whereas Izuku was staring at him calmly, looking indifferent and just all around bored.

"See, I don't think you do. Good on you for getting help for the dog, but you have no obligation to stay seeing as the dog is not yours and the owners surrendered her to the vet." Izuku stated calmly, glancing sideways at you before looking back at Daisuke. "Now I'm going to ask one more time. If you don't comply, I will have to issue force. Please leave the premises." He said, voice taking on an icy tone.

"I'm not going anywhere. I want to talk to ___" Daisuke growled, turning and noticing you. "Finally, it's about time you finished. Now, we need to talk." He snapped as he started moving towards you. You stayed still as he approached, expression becoming increasingly scared at the anger wafting off of him. He reached for your arm, fingers just barely touching you before chaos exploded.

-----

Izuku wasn't sure what came over him. One moment he was extremely annoyed with Daisuke, just wanting him to leave. The next, he had him pinned against the wall. It had all happened so fast, using Black Whip to snatch his hand off your arm and throw him into the wall, body jolting forward and hand slamming against his chest and pinning him there.

"Don't you ever lay your hand on ___ again." He warned dangerously, green sparks flying across his body as he gripped Daisuke's shirt, hearing the fabric start to tear. "If I ever see you around here or around ___ again, I will personally throw your ass in Tartarus myself."

"Y-you can't do that! I'm not a villain!" Daisuke yelped out, voice strained at the fist pressing up under his chin. "I didn't do anything wrong!"

"You know what you did. You know exactly what you did wrong." Izuku threatened, leaning closer and lowering his voice. "I looked into you Daisuke. You're not innocent. I know all about your history." He let an odd sense of pleasure wash over him at the fear flickering through the man's eyes, a grin sliding across his face. "Oh yeah. I know all about the Breaking and Entering, the theft…" he said before leaning even closer, mouth next to his ear. "And to think you could get away with the abuse… yeah, not under my watch, you criminal. I should just arrest you right here." He said, making Daisuke start to whimper out pleas.

"No no no! That was in the past, that's not me anymore!" He shouted, causing Izuku to chuckle darkly.

"So my witness who told me you intentionally ran over this dog was lying?" He asked with a playful lilt to his voice, amusement dancing across his features when Daisuke paled.

"What is he talking about?" You finally spoke up, moving closer to the two. You were frowning deeply, staring at Daisuke with horror.

"He's lying, I didn't do anything to that dog, it ran out in front of me !" He shouted, struggling to break free from Izuku's grip. Izuku's grip was like iron, making his struggle fruitless.

"My sources sent me the security footage from the traffic cameras. Should I play it?" Izuku asked, easily holding him in place with one hand as he grabbed his phone from his pocket. He typed a few things out before pulling up a video feed, holding it up so you and Daisuke could watch. Sure enough, the dog was seen lying within the property of her residence, snoozing on a dog bed a few meters from the road, a good distance away from any potential harm. Seconds later, Daisuke's truck was seen speeding down the road before skidding to a stop and backing up. It paused, the window rolling down for a few minutes before the truck backed out of the camera view. Not even 10 seconds after, his truck came back into view in a completely different spot, driving through the yard and right towards the dog. The dog tried to get out of the way but wasn't fast enough, its body flying across the yard upon impact. Izuku shut his phone off and tucked it away. "Daisuke Kaneko, you are under arrest for the aforementioned crimes and animal cruelty. Come quietly and no harm will come to you." He stated firmly, turning Daisuke around easily and slapping cuffs around his wrists that he had pulled from his belt pockets. Daisuke let out a string of curses as he struggled, yelping when Izuku easily lifted him off the ground and started walking toward the exit.

"Izuku?" You called, moving with him. The man in question paused and turned to you, an eyebrow raised curiously, his demeanour becoming a little more gentle in your presence. "Thank you.." you murmured, moving forward to press a sweet kiss to his lips. His whole expression lit up as he grinned, using his free hand to pull you closer and kiss you again.

"Told you, I'm your hero."

------

"Yuki come inside!!"

The medium-sized yellow dog came sprinting across the yard, her three legs working overtime to get her up the porch and into the house. It had been almost a year since she had been brought into your vet office. The owners had surrendered her, not wanting to care for a special needs dog and pay the surgery prices. So you and Izuku decided to adopt her, not wanting the hassle of finding a foster for her, knowing that both of you would give her the best care. Within that year, you and Izuku had gotten a bungalow together, just big enough for you both and the dog. Initially, he had asked you to move into his apartment but decided it would be better to find a new place entirely since you had a history with your ex there and he wanted you to start fresh. So, the new place it was.

"___, dinner's almost ready, can you set the table?" Izuku called out from the kitchen after shutting the back door once the dog was inside. He got an affirmative response as he went back to cooking. Moments later, you walked in, looking cute in your PJ shirt and shorts. It had been a day off for the both of you, crime on the low since he had moved to this neighbourhood. Nobody wanted to be bad when the number one hero lived only minutes away. You had also taken the day off from work, your coworkers begging you to do so since you worked nonstop for the last year. They had said you deserved some quiet time with your family. You had blushed deeply at that since you and Izuku were still only partners and nothing else… at least for now. You were nervous to move too fast with him after Daisuke, but you wanted nothing more than to be with him. Truly and wholly.

"Okay, I'm gonna get everything on the table, do me a favour?" Izuku asked as he started bringing dishes full of food out, setting them across the table.

"Yeah of course."

"Go into our room and in my nightstand drawer, there's a black bag. I want you to go grab it and bring it to me, but don't open it." He stated, barely sparing you a glance.

"Uh… okay?" You said before turning and heading into your room, Yuki hobbling after you. She moved quite well for a three-legged dog as if she had been a tripod her entire life. Wanting to be quick so the food didn't get cold, you moved towards his nightstand and grabbed the bag the second you saw it, bringing it back to him in the dining room. He thanked you with a sweet kiss and then shoved it in his pocket, pulling out your chair and having you sit down.

"Alright, let's dig in baby." He said smoothly, making you blush at the affectionate name. Yuki moved towards her own dish and started eating her kibble, keeping a respectful distance from the table.

Dinner went by smoothly, with lots of food being leftover since Izuku went a little overboard with cooking. Thankfully, you both had saved just enough room for dessert. Izuku was quick to scramble to the kitchen and back with an apple pie looking a little worse for wear.

"Okay, so I'm not the greatest at baking so I hope it tastes better than it looks." He chuckled, cheeks dusted a soft pink in his embarrassment.

"It looks good, Izuku." You chuckled in amusement, setting the smaller plates down as well as forks and the vanilla ice cream.

"You're just saying that to make me feel better. It looks like a biohazard." He snorted as he set it down. Sure enough, the apple pie looked as if someone had taken the crust and the filling and just slapped them together rather than layered them. It wasn't pretty, but it did smell delicious. He cut two slices out and set them on the plates before scooping generous heaps of ice cream beside them. "Before you dig in, I wanted to say something."

"Uh, sure. What's up?" You asked curiously, confusion slipping across your face when he dropped down into the floor instead of in the chair. He kneeled in front of you and gently took your hand, chewing at his lips as he thought over his words. "Izuku. Is everything okay?" You asked, worry becoming evident on your face.

"Fuck it, I'll just say whatever comes to mind. This is going to sound so messy." He said before taking a deep breath.

"I may not be the first kiss that gave you butterflies. Or the first five-hour phone call, even if it kept you up all night." He started off, chuckling a bit at the fond memory, smiling even more when you giggled in response, rolling your eyes. "I may not be the first last name that you scribbled next to yours… but from now till forever, for worse or for better, there's one thing I know for sure. I know it's a bit fast, but…" he reached into his pocket and pulled out the black bag, opening it and pulling out a dark green velvet box. "I've got a golden band… It comes with a promise that never ends, not like it did with Daisuke." He opened the box to reveal a sleek golden ring with a single emerald gem located in the center. You couldn't stop the small gasp as he took it out and held it up to you. "Once I slip this on your hand, our story will begin. You'll never have to cry goodbye tears again, not with me. You'll never spend another night alone. I'll always pull you in close, we'll chase our dreams together. It's the end of your broken road baby, let us call this home, truly." He started before taking your left hand. With no objection, he started slowly slipping the ring onto your finger, giving you time to stop him if you chose to. "Who cares about history? Daisuke's in the past." He murmured, noting the worry in your gaze. Once the ring was fully on your finger, he lifted your hand and gave the ring and your knuckles a gentle kiss, never breaking eye contact. "I knew that the first time I saw you you'd be my last. My last love to have, to hold, even when we grow old. It’ll be a love that lasts. If you let me, I'll be the last place your heart calls a home.." he leaned up until your lips were barely brushing against each other. "Will you let me give that to you baby? Let me be your last love?" He held his breath in anticipation, eyes gazing into yours with absolute adoration and gentleness.

You didn't say anything as you gently cupped his cheek, leaning down and sliding your lips against his. The kiss was slow, gentle and full of so much love it almost hurt. The tingles rushing through each of your bodies were like nothing else you've ever felt before, sparks flying between you and your lips moving in sync. You could feel his heart pounding against his chest, his breathing slightly ragged as he pressed you into the chair, holding you close. After a few moments, when both of your lungs were screaming for air, you reluctantly pulled away, panting softly into each other's mouths. You smiled softly as you gave him a couple more sweet pecks, nuzzling your nose against his. He gently rubbed his thumbs against your cheeks, smiling just as softly back at you. Your gaze moved towards the ring, loving how it glittered beautifully in the late evening light, the emerald almost matching the colour of his eyes perfectly.

"Y'know, after Daisuke, I never thought I'd get to this point in my life again. I didn't think I'd ever be worthy given everything he made me believe about myself," You explained softly, meeting his eyes. "but you changed that Izuku. You made me feel like I haven't felt in years. You made me believe that I could be loved again. You made me feel whole again." You stroked along his cheek, watching the way his gaze softened with each word. "You gave me hope. You gave me peace…"

"I love you…" he murmured softly.

"I love you too, Izuku Midoriya."

"So…? Is that a yes?"

"Yes."
