Work Text:
Rinne is not jealous. He isn't a jealous man, why he's quite an open minded one. So he's not jealous, not in the slightest.
But he does feel like eating a brick wall when he sees Kuro give Keito and Souma chocolates with that cute smile and little blush of his.
He watches as the Akatsuki trio talk to each other, and whatever they're talking about, it's making Kuro's blush become more apparent.
This is unfair. He wants that too. He wants to see Kuro smile that pretty shy smile of his directed towards him too. And he wants to see him have that pretty red hue on his fac—
Fuck.
"You're hopeless." He hears a voice calling him out, disdain clear as day in the tone.
Rinne turns his head around, exasperated. "Kohakun~ help me then, hm~? Just a little bit, yeah~? Like—"
"No." With that, Kohaku stood to walk away from the cafe, not even turning around to glance. Rinne sighs, helpless, then he turns around again, looking back at the sight of Kuro, happily chatting away.
He notices the way Kuro's gaze flits here and there, shy as he scratches his cheek, a nervous habit. Rinne can't help the surge of adoration that appears within him.
Oh god, he's got it bad.
It isn't that long, however, when he sees Kuro again, with the familiar bag of chocolates in his hands. Again, a green little monster emerges.
Now, who's he giving those to?
Rinne watches, from a safe distance away. He sees a familiar lock of black hair, approaching Kuro. Oh, it's Rei. Of course, they're close, friends since yumenosaki, the same production company. Of course. Of course.
He watches on, glances, he doesn't want to get caught after all, but it seems he gets caught in the act in the end, because when his gaze meets Rei, the other man smiles, mischief clear. Then Rei leans into Kuro, whispering something into his ear and it makes Kuro flustered.
Fuck, he's cute when he's flustered.
What's not cute is how Rei looks back at him after the act, and smiles. Rinne's about damn near biting his wrists off. Kuro's attention is grabbed by this, then he turns around, looking at the recipient of Rei's gaze. Which, in turn, makes him lock gazes with Rinne.
Rinne's heart jumps.
Then Kuro smiles at him, and waves.
Rinne perks up, and waves back, with a wide smile. Then Kuro walks away, giving both him and Rei a final wave.
Rei stands on his spot for a moment, staring at him with the same shit-eating smirk, shrugs and walks away.
If Rinne had been a lesser man, he would break into his dorm room and break down his partition.
The next time he sees Kuro again, he walks by him, rushing steps. Though only a short time, he sees the seemingly extravagant gifts on his hands when he walks off, and the red tip of his ears. Rinne's eyes narrowed, then he heard another set of footsteps.
He turns away from Kuro's rushing figure, to see Wataru, standing, watching Kuro rush off with a smug smile on his face. Pride seeping through.
It didn't take long for Rinne to put two and two together to realise why Kuro was so flustered. He looks at Wataru, then realises in one his hand, is the familiar bag of chocolates.
.
Okay.
When his attention is finally brought away from the gift in his hand, he looks back up only to see Wataru staring back at him. Then, he smiles and waves, walking away.
Wow.
By the end of the day, Rinne has been reduced to a sulking man. Forlorn. Lounging in the break room in the ES building. Rinne's weighing his options. Should he just get a Valentine's gift for Kuro and give it belatedly? But then what should it be? Chocolates? Plushies?? Sewing related stuff???
But then if he were to give it belatedly, then wouldn't it show he did this last minute? Then what would Kuro think of him then? Well, he's not one to care much of what others think but it's Kuro.
Just thinking about him makes Rinne want to punch the air.
Wallowing deep in his pitiful thoughts, he doesn't realise the door to the break room opening and closing. Not even when a presence sits itself next to him.
"Hey." A voice breaks him out of his thoughts. Sluggishly, he raises his head up to look at the source of the voice. The sight that greets him freezes him right on the spot.
Sitting right next to him is the source of his helplessness.
"Hello." He replies, rigid.
Kuro simply chuckles at his response. Rinne is about to evaporate. "What brings you here?" He asks, snapping out of his stupor.
"Nothing. Just wanted to see you."
Oh.
He's about to melt right then and there.
Now, what does a person usually do or say when your crush says he just wanted to see you?
"Why? Wanted me to be your Valentine?"
Probably not that.
But the laugh that Kuro lets out is worth his somewhat embarrassing reply.
"Did you want me to ask you?" He asks, after calming down.
"Well, I wouldn't say I'd mind it if you did."
The ripening blush that appears on Kuro's face makes him want to bite his hand. Or Kuro's lovely cheeks. That'd be cute too.
"Well," he looks away, gaze flitting from the snacks in the break room and to him, "I came here, because I wanted to give you…this."
Then, put right in front of him, is a bag of chocolates. Oh.
"I uh," his hand scratches his neck, clearly nervous, "I made it. Myself. Made a lot of it, to give to the people I appreciate."
Rinne moves to take the bag into his own hand, examining it, admiring. And then—
"And…to give to uh. Someone. I…like." His voice trails off, but Rinne hears it as clear as day. Swiftly, his gaze moves to look at Kuro. The blush Kuro adorns is unlike he's seen before, covering his entire face, and then even to his ears, and he sees the red hue traveling down to his neck.
Oh my fucking God.
Abruptly, Kuro stands up, already walking away, rambling between breaths. "Anyway, good night, Amagi. Uh sweet dreams and uh goodbye!"
Just like that, Rinne was left behind to watch Kuro's retreating back. Rinne, still speechless, could only lean back into his seat. Breathing in deeply, to calm his stormy mind, and ever increasing heartbeat. He's about to get arrhythmia if this goes on.
Then he looks at the bag in his hands, deciding to open it. He takes one of it into his mouth, but then he sees a small rolled up paper inside the bag. Pulling it out and opening it, all he can do is laugh softly.
"Ah fuck."
For a man with such rough-like appearance, he sure is adorable.
