Work Text:
“Who are you texting so much?” Bad asked and Hannah looked up from her phone.
“Just my MERCH guy.” She said, looking at her messages with Skeppy that had nothing to do with MERCH and a lot to do with Bad. “Gotta make sure everything works out for the drop.”
“I’m happy for you, by the way!”
“Aww thank you.” Hannah smiled sweetly at Bad before her eyes glanced down at the screen.

Hannah typed at her phone while Bad scrolled through Twitter, once she lowered her phone, she excused herself to the restroom.

And also, I’m sorry.
Skeppy sat on the couch next to Dream who wrapped his arm around Skeppy and let Skeppy curl into him. “I know that sometimes you think we all like you less because we knew Bad longer… but we will always be here for you, Zak.” Dream said, rubbing a hand on Skeppy’s arm.
Skeppy nodded his head.
“Besides, there’s a plus to being here.” Dream said.
“What’s that?” Skeppy asked and felt a body to his other side, before arms wrapped around him. If he expected anyone to hug him it would be Dream first. Check. Then Sapnap. Not slim arms that belong to George.
He felt a different hand in his hair, that was Sapnap. He was standing behind the couch.
“Lots of cuddles.” Sapnap said. “And booze if you want it. Dream usually doesn’t let us consume alcohol until after 3 and it’s only like noon but he’ll make the exception.”
Dream nodded and Skeppy chuckled, melting into everyone around him. “I’m good just sitting here..” he spoke softly.
When Hannah returned to the table she looked at Bad who was staring at his phone with a furrowed brow. She tilted her head. He did not look like someone who just freshly got into a relationship.
“You good?” She asked and Bad looked up at her.
“Yeah..” he paused, “Skeppy just confessed to me.”
“Oh! Congratulations!” Hannah smiled and sat down before her smile faded when he shook his head. “Why is it not a good thing? You guys are like totally in love.”
Bad bit his lip, “because he’s just- he’s too late. I do love him.. those feelings never went away.. in an entirety. But, I moved on. Almost a year ago.”
Hannah’s face fell instantly. “Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
“I told Dream. And I mean, I’m sure the other two know but it was never the right time- how was I to know he liked me back? I would have never forced myself to move on and put the idea of us so far behind him.” Bad paused, “I think I might leave early.. I will only hurt him if I stay.”
“Bad-“ he just shook his head.
“I’ll pay the bill then we can leave. He’s not even at his place anyway. I’ll pack my things up and get Lucy all sorted. Then I’ll leave in the morning.”
“You can’t be serious? You’re just going to leave him?” Hannah asked and Bad set cash on the table, rising from his seat. Hannah stood as well and followed him out to his car. “Bad!”
Bad turned to face her, “Yes. I’m really just going to leave. I already told you that it’ll hurt him more if I’m here compared to just leaving and letting us figure it out apart. Our friendship won’t die, we can still be best friends but I can’t hurt him anymore.”
Hannah nodded and got out of the car at her house and watched Bad drive back to Skeppy’s.
Bad packed up his things, he had really started to make himself at home there. He could see himself moving in eventually. Or he could.. before. Now he wasn’t so sure if Skeppy would want him to live there anymore. They would be awkward and horrible and Bad couldn’t keep hurting him. He didn’t care about what he wanted for himself, only what was good for Skeppy.
Bad looked at Rat who was tilting her head at him. Rocco and her were curled up together. If Bad swore, he certainly would have just sworn now. He would have sworn at how stupid this all was and how he knew he was running away just as much as he was looking out for Skeppy. He was an avoider. He had avoidance issues. And Skeppy was too clingy for these issues. And maybe Bad should have taught him not to be so clingy with the older. He should have made it so Skeppy didn’t love him so much, friend and not. He shouldn’t have let them get so close- close enough to hurt. Because that’s all it did. Was hurt.
Skeppy came back and knocked on Bad’s door, “hey I grabbed dinner. We can eat in and just hang tonight then go out to eat tomorrow night. Celebrate your one week of being here.” Skeppy slowly opened the door when Bad hummed loud enough for the younger to hear and his face fell. Bad watched as the food nearly slipped from his fingers.
“You’re packing?” Skeppy asked. Bad nodded. “Ok, cool.”
“Skep-“
“What time are you leaving? I’ll make sure I’m awake to make you some breakfast before you head home.” Skeppy never had referred to Bad’s house as a home before. Just his house, because Skeppy and Bad had always said that they were each other’s home. Suddenly Skeppy didn’t believe that. Maybe because Bad was about to abandon him without much warning.
“Probably around noon.” Bad said.
“Right, sounds good. We can go out tonight then if you want- or you can eat in here and I’ll just go edit that video I need to post this weekend.” Skeppy said. “I won’t make you eat with me.”
“We can eat together on the couch.” Bad said and Skeppy now somehow looked worse. Bad didn’t even think that was possible.
“Oh well now I feel like I made you feel like you had to..” Skeppy reached into the bag and grabbed out some Chinese dish that he knew Bad loved. It wasn’t from a place near Skeppy’s house, Bad remembered when Skeppy told him that the closest one was an hour away and Bad had been sad. Skeppy handed it to Bad, it was still warm. “I used one of those temperature control bags that I picked up at the store.” Skeppy stepped back into the doorway, his eyes looking at the suitcase. He patted his thigh and Rocco stood up and sat at his side, staring at Bad. Skeppy couldn’t bring himself to look at the older man. “Uhm I hope it tastes good, and I wish I could just go back and unsend that text.. so I’m sorry for that too. Enjoy your dinner, Bad.” Skeppy said and just left the room.
When Bad tried to go into Skeppy’s room after he finished packing, the door was locked.
When he tried it again before leaving for his house - not his home. His home was behind the door - it was locked still.
Bad let out a breath and went out to his car, getting Rat situated and texted Bad a goodbye text and told him that he would call him later.
He started his drive down to the first stop.
He thought about it for a moment. Turning around. Going back. Throwing away all the hard work he did to leave Skeppy and his heart on separate pedestals. But he just kept driving, and he didn’t look back.
