Work Text:
Two goddesses were cuddled in a queen-sized bed that was placed center to the room against one of the walls, it was flanked with two night tables, one on each side, both adorned lamps, but the one on the right side had a few books placed in it. The room had one window placed to the right of the bed that was covered by light red curtains, keeping it from lighting up the room as soon as Apollo took out the sun for the day, an essential asset in Olympus, as the sun would shine earlier than in other places because of its height. Beside the window there was a big bookshelf, packed with books to every free place, and while it had some order, it was obvious that the owner ran out of place to put their books.
The all white room in ancient Greek architecture style was like a typical temple that students learned of in art history, adorned by Corinthian pillars it followed the canons set during those times, that proved to be really pleasing to the eye. Though usually buildings in this style were temples, in this case it was one of the residences in Mount Olympus, the place where the gods lived. The main difference being more walls that allowed for rooms inside the house, as they weren't allowed to have more than one floor.
When one looked for the first time, all residential zones looked exactly the same when it came to the building, but if one was lucky enough to get invited to one of the houses they would realize that once they step foot to the territory that not only they were subtly different from each other when it came to decoration (the frieze usually held different depictions, usually about the god that lived in the place). The gardens of the terrain also depicted the god's tastes when it came to nature and art, some of them having unkept gardens, sometimes full of junk (Hephaestus) or magazine-like gardens (Demeter).
Once you entered the home you would see all the personality of the god showcased in the walls and decoration, Athena's house having bookshelves in almost every room, the woman always running out of space to place her stuff; Hestia would decorate with warm colors, plants in the corners and lots of comfy places that included sofa, bean bags, etc.
As you might have guessed by now, we are visiting Athena's room. But, there seems to be an anomaly to the usually isolated bedroom. The main difference being the bed guesting two bodies instead of one.
After all, it was not every day that you saw the goddess of wisdom spooned by another goddess. One would think that something bad might have happened if they weren't aware of the rumor mill in the god's world, because Athena was single, right?
Well, if you asked Aphrodite, you would most probably only get a smug smile in answer.
Aphrodite being the one that was wrapped around Athena like a needy partner, something that she actually was, a partner, not needy (Aphrodite would say, whether Athena agreed to that is a different story).
The curtain, that was supposed to allow a few more hours of sleep, had not been placed properly the night prior, and because of that a ray of sunlight hit Athena straight in the eye, making her rouse from sleep. As she tried to move, she realized that she was wrapped in the goddess of love’s arms, and as she tried to wiggle out of that grip, she woke up her girlfriend instead.
“Mhm, you’re going already?” Aphrodite’s sleepy voice says as she opens her eyes and moves even closer to her girlfriend, she places a kiss on her shoulder. “Won’t you keep me company, love?”
“We already slept until it was very late, I should’ve started my day 2 hours ago.” Athena answers in a whisper as she makes to turn towards her girlfriend.
Athena has never gotten over how beautiful Aphrodite looks when she’s in her arms. As beautiful as the goddess is, by being the representation of beauty herself, there was always something different about the way she looked in the mornings after sleeping cuddled next to her. There was such a sense of longing in Athena’s heart every time she saw her that way, that made her want to always wake up next to her.
“What’s so urgent? Specially now still during winter, when the days are shorter and colder, it’s barely nine in the morning.” Aphrodite asks, she then starts sneaking kisses on Athena’s neck.
Athena let’s out a sigh of pleasure at Aphrodite’s ministrations and fails to answer. “Doesn’t a few kisses in bed and breakfast with me sound way more appealing?” Aphrodite stops kissing her as she makes to look her in the eyes.
Aphrodite’s eyes have always portrayed love, that is something the goddess is very aware of, but it’s when she looks at the one that her hurt truly desires that her eyes really shine all the way. It is a double-edged sword, considering that they are still in the early stages of their relationship and are being a bit hush, hush about it. Her eyes can cause jealousy, but at the same time can be hypnotic, one could say addicting. But they had no way of manipulating the one that she wanted more than anyone else, the one she wanted to spend the rest of the ages with.
That is why when Athena looked her in the eye she couldn’t help but smile, she could see the love swimming fervently in her lover’s eyes, and it was immensely reassuring. She had always been a bit insecure about love towards herself, having grown up in uncommon conditions than the rest of their kin (maybe separate to the five siblings that were born of Rhea and Chronos).
“It does sound wonderful.” Athena says, and she captures Aphrodite’s lips in a tender kiss. Aphrodite takes the chance to let go of her embrace and climb on top of the other body in the bed, successfully keeping her in bed.
“I hoped you would say that.” Aphrodite answers against her lips, she looks at Athena’s gray eyes, that have always been so expressing, and revels at the affection she is able to see in them. She is probably the happiest goddess in Mount Olympus.
And just in that way, Aphrodite kisses off the rest of the morning away from Athena’s mind.
